help late 30s ttc and just found a lump in my breast

Sorry this is not a very happy subject. I found a lump in my breast last week and the doctor is sending me to see a consultant. I'm 35 and ttc for 6 months. I just wondered if its benign how long they usually take before they whip it out and so how long before I can go back to ttc. Obviously if it's not benign then it must be at least a year of treatment? And what you can do to see if you could conceive after that? I am very down. Can anyone advise?

Thank you for your messages. Am so glad you got the all clear JAG123. It's always great to hear stories like that. Good luck with ttc!
Evesmama, it moves a little bit and so far not really had any pain (a little in the last couple of days but not excruciating and I think its more likely to be me imagining it because I am worrying myself ) Am sure it is fine - but when you ring up the doctor and NHS Direct and they sound serious it worries you!
I also cannot help feeling worried because I do not have any children - I only got married six months ago - and fear that I may now not be able to at all. But as you say what will be will be.

hi, i also have lump at moment annd am about to have it removed.

does it move when you press it?
does it hurt?
are there any marks around the area on the skin?

mine does all of this, had two lots of cells taken, a scan and showed nothing scary, however i am opting(on consultants advice) to have it removed so i can relax about it and then they can fina out exactly whats there.

i know how you're feeling

Hi

I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I just wanted to say that 9 out 10 Breast Lumps in younger women are benign & turn out to be cysts or fatty deposits. However there are acceptions myself being one of them. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer when i had just turned 30 & my DD was 8 months old. I had a mastectomy, Chemotherapy & radiotherapy. That was 5 years ago & i have just been given the all clear. I was given the go ahead to ttc in Sept 04. Unfortunatly I may not be able to due to the chemo but as i have continued to have regular afs i take this as a good sign. There is always hope & i believe whats meant to be will be.

I really hope that you will be one of the 9. It is still quite uncommon in women under 50. I hope that i haven't frightened you.

I will be sending you positive thoughts.

10 july first available appointment.
my GP was rubbish. He was about 12 and just spent time making notes on the computer. hardly looked at me, didn't say anything reassuring at all or tell me what was happening. I was in and out of there in 3 mins!
I know it's not importnt but I still think some doctors dont help themselves!

I was 34 last year and was referred for a breat lump, mine was simply benign fibrocistic disease of the breast, ie simple terms lumpy boobs.

please try not to worry about what would happen if you had the Big C, most likely you will have some other easy to deal with lump
It is an incredibly stressful time, I worried myself sick about it.
When is your appt?

Hi Mirry71 - So sorry to hear about the lump - it must be a very worrying time for you. I haven't got anything helpful to say, but just thought I would let you know that you're not being ignored!
