This is all so new & scary to me so just looking for people I can chat to who know as fewof the abbreviations as me and are going through all the same scary stuff for the first time!! Either that or some pro's who don't mind my million questions!!

I'm very early stages as in body still coming off the contraceptive pill so it might be a while til a get my BFP (I do know that one!!) so might need some chums in the meantime!

Hi girls,

I am prone to UTIs after unprotected sex wit DH so have tried to have sex only around ovulation time. We've been using condoms since coming off the pill two years ago after I started with migraines (despite being on the pill for 12 year)s.

I used the ovulation calendar on mumsnet to get the 4 days of when I roughly ovulated for the first 2 months of ttc with obviously no effect (My cycle varies between 26 and 28 days each month). Our first month of ttc we dtd that many times over 4 days I gave myself a UTI (urinary tract infection) so had to go on antibiotics!

This is our 3rd cycle of ttc so decided to go a bit more scientific and bought a pee on ovulation stick from Boots. Started using it at the start of the estimated four days and got a positive ovulation result towards the end of the four days (which is a lot later than I thought I ovulated). On the instructions it says when you get a positive result, you are more likely to conceive the following 48 hours. We dtd 3 times over that 48 hr window, AF/BFP? due next Saturday September 28th so we shall have to wait and see.............

Apologies for the following TMI! I've had diarrhoea every morning since ovulating (which is very unlike me) and I've started with insomnia, I woke up at 2am last night, couldn't get to sleep until 5am and had to eat a banana because I felt shaky. I've learnt not to read too much into symptoms as so much is psychosomatic when you're ttc and I am determined that I will not POAS until AF is late!

tinaw20 · 22/09/2013 19:28

Retrohippy - you sound exactly the same as me!! I too have another 3 months supply of rigevidon (was Microgynon but my doc said they stopped producing it?!) left but we decided we'd ttc at the end of the last packet! My AF has now stopped and according the the Ovufriend website which I'm using for charting my ov dates are between 6th-10th oct so ill most definitely be trying then! Will defo check with doc tomorrow though and use the opk's that week to be sure!! Wish me luck :) x

Hi ladies
AF arrived this am, 3 days late, going to stop testing early, this is month 2 after mc in may, the 2 week wait is hard....

Tina, I got pregnant pretty much straight away after stopping pill with DD as ov can happen straight away, so it could def happen for u

sjd99, how are you charting? With a basal thermometer? Think I might start although clear blue ov kit said I didn't ov at all this month but can't Afford o keep buying those kits!!

Any tips on ov tracking ladies? don't know where to start, after this month I could be ov really irregularly..

RetroHippy · 22/09/2013 17:23

Hiya, can I sneak in? I usually hang out in chat, but could do with some buds to bore to death chat with about baby stuff. I have 12 days left on my pill pack, I kind of agreed to go and get another 6 months worth from the docs to support DH in starting his new job (I.e. by not being pregnant and tired and hormonal!!) but now its come to it I really really don't want to stay on it any more.

My cycle was always unreliable when I've not been on Microgynon (between 14 and 40-odd days, with periods lasting up to a fortnight) so I'm thinking I'll need a bit of time to settle down. Hoping to start actively trying in the New Year.

Anyone else feel kind of sicky excited? Like going on a date with a new bloke? It's weird, never had that before, I think its because I've kind of made up my mind that this is it. Bored of waiting now!!!

SJD99 · 22/09/2013 16:56

Hi Everyone!

Been reading on here for a little while but time to take the plunge and join in!

Just to warn you in advance I struggle with any sort of acronyms or metaphors - I read ROFL as Rolf - which leads me to think of Rolf Harris and I then start seeing kangaroos in my head (?) which throws me off what someone is saying completely! I'm also always mixing metaphors up too. Work thinks it's hilarious as I tend to let the rabbit out the bag or pull a cat out of a hat! So apologies in advance for any scatty posts.

Anyhoo, back to baby bump plans, I'm 33 and like you Eclaires had coil out in August - early August for me.

In second month of trying but have been 'properly' charting this month and found out that I ovulate on Day 20, in a 31 day cycle so first month was a non-starter as we had a break that week!

Just had a visit from AF (just looked that one up!) ... like you Pixieears was hopeful that it was implantation but cramps telling me otherwise :-(

Looking forwards to hearing everyone's stories, and having a place to let off steam - am sure we'll all be where we want to sometime soon.

Nikkilouise26 · 22/09/2013 16:42

I tired the opk and didn't get any readings off them for 2 months so gave up and tired to figure when I ovulate wax thing cm that didn't work either ha with having irregular periods it hard to pin point whe I ovulate if I do every month.... Defo thought it would be lot easier than it has been lol hopefully docs will be nice to me tomorrow and offer me more help but we will see as they like to play god sometimes!!

Crystal049 · 22/09/2013 15:08

Hey there I'm a newbie, came off the pill in June but having started TTC just yet but will be in the next few months, just finishing an extension and need to be working to pay for that. So excited though and can't wait to be pregnant. I'm 31 and been married just over a year - everyone's asking me the baby question and I swear people think we're TTC when were not yet! Ha that's life. I'm just going to go with it to begin with without OPK or anything and see what happens for a few months. Good luck with BFP!! X

barmybunting · 22/09/2013 09:13

Kitchen, I'm sorry to hear about the MC. I hope you are doing as ok as you can be at this stage.

Nikkilouise, that sounds sensible to go back to the Drs. Let us know how you get on.

Tina, I think you are ok to go ahead straight after coming off the pill, I have heard the first month after you come off you have an increase in fertility but what that actually means or if it's true I don't know!

Is it just me, or does this all look so simple until you realise you want to ttc and then realise that it can take a lot longer than you thought?

I'm surprised by being so late for my second cycle, now 21 days but I have been temping using fertility friend and it is saying I ovulated on cd43 so AF should hopefully appear in the next week or so. Timing wise, that would mean I have completely missed a cycle but at least it is looking like it might appear soon! I don't really know what you can do if it doesn't at this stage?

Nikkilouise26 · 21/09/2013 20:29

I'm hoping when I go back the docs on Monday they will off me clomid or a least refer me as it clear I'm
Not ovulating regularly but we will see!!

tinaw20 · 21/09/2013 20:22

Sorry to hear you're having such a stressful time! Hopefully you'll get your BFP soon! Come chat anytime you want! I've got a feeling it'll take a while for me too :( x

Hey girl well I'm 27 ttc 1 been trying for a little over a year now :( very stressful this ttc business but hopefully will happen soon enough.

tinaw20 · 21/09/2013 19:17

Welcome!! Feel free to PM me for a chat at anytime! I've been doing a lot of it as its all so new to means I've o idea what I'm doing! 20 days late is a bit odd though, even from the pill! My usual cycle went from 30-34 days when I came off 3 years ago! I went back on a year and a half ago though and am only just finished my last packet now so I've got to go through it all again!! I'm hoping to start ttc after my next cycle as this one is a pill induced one so not sure if it'll work?! X

skybluegirl33 · 21/09/2013 19:16

Welcome to the group Monkey and Barmy, it's good to share with others who are going through the same thing and we can all understand how frustrating and hard it ttc!

Keep us posted with how things are going?x

barmybunting · 21/09/2013 19:03

Hello, can I join in please?
I came off the pill at the beginning of July, but DH has been away with work since end June, he is due back next week, so we can finally start TTC. We are trying for our first baby, have been married about 2 years.

Despite supposedly having come off the pill whilst he was away to allow my cycle to regulate and not obsess about things, I had a normal 28 day cycle for cycle 1, and now for cycle 2 I am on cd48 now and have no sign of AF - meaning I am 20 days late based on last months cycle. I'm hoping it appears this week before DH gets home. I hate how long it takes to get things back to normal, I think it could be very easy to start to obsess about this.

Glad to hear of other people in the same boat, wanting to be calm but finding it hard!

Monkeygirl28 · 21/09/2013 18:26

Hi there, this is my first post too, Hello! have one DD nearly 2.5, early miscarriage in may, been ttc since but having a weird time at the mo, 2 days late which is rare, lots of negative hpts so very confused and pretty fed up! Really want to be pregnant

pixieears32 · 21/09/2013 14:33

I'm having a very off day- I'm in a really bad mood and feel sick to my stomach, it's as if AF is starting all over again as I would normally feel this way at the beginning of AF. It's like my hormones are all out of whack. Poor DP is getting the brunt of it :)

I can only imagine what you are going through KitchenWeasel. My mum had two miscarriages as well as three kids and she found it very hard. Be kind to yourself and feel free to let off steam here.

KitchenWeasel · 21/09/2013 10:46

Thanks pixie and sky. Smile everything feels quite cloudy it's a strange place to be in, wanting AF to just pass but not wanting her at all IYSWIM?

Hopefully lots of bfps can come from this thread.

It's so true though- you hardly notice pregnant women until you start TTC then they seem to be everywhere Envy

skybluegirl33 · 21/09/2013 09:43

Thanks for all the support girls, I've not told any friends or family that we're ttc as I don't want the added pressure and expectations from them all, particulary as my DH and I know 17 babies born this year from family, friends and colleagues!!! All I've been doing is buying baby stuff for others and hoping that eventually I'll be doing it for myself one day.

Sorry about your MC KitchenWeasel, I can't begin to imagine what you and you're partner have gone through and admire your determination and strength.

I'm trying to not get obsessed with it all but it's so hard. I'm on my 2ww and have to stop assuming every body change is early pregnancy and not a normal body function, so frustrating!

tinaw20 · 21/09/2013 09:37

That's supposed to say children, not Thomas! Damn auto correct!

OP posts:
tinaw20 · 21/09/2013 09:36

Yay! Lots of newbies! I'm in exactly the same boat! This time last year I didn't even know if I wanted Thomas we were stuck in a rut and I just wasn't very happy, we moved to a bigger house in June and are surrounded by lovely neighbours, all of whom have very young children's d something inside me just went boom! Now it's all I can think about and I just want to be pregnant more than anything! I am aware it can take a while though so will no doubt calm down eventually :) good luck to all & let's keep chatting so we can help each other out! I too have no friends ttc, my closest friend is 13wks but she got her BFP after just one cycle so she's not much use for advice ;) x

pixieears32 · 21/09/2013 09:18

Sorry to hear about the MC KitchenWeasel hope you are doing okay here to listen if you need to vent

pixieears32 · 21/09/2013 09:11

We can obsess together KitchenWeasel! It's funny how you can go from not being too bothered to being completely broody- to the point where it's all you think about! Plus I work with kids and it seems nearly everyday their parents are announcing they are pregnant again!! It feels like it will never happen for me!!

KitchenWeasel · 21/09/2013 08:59

Pixie welcome!

Don't worry, I have a feeling I might be joining you in obsessing.

The worst thing you can do IMO is test early, I have in the past and it does more harm than good.

When you decide the time is right for a baby, you want one NOW! Grin

pixieears32 · 21/09/2013 08:49

Hi,

This is my first post though I've been thinking about joining for some time! I am 32 ttc#1 just finished cycle 2 and heading into cycle 3. AF was 3 days early this month so was really hopeful I was having an implantation bleed but think its just regular old AF now! :(

None of my friends are ttc and need some buddies to share the ride with! Have already started to obsess about why it hasn't happened even though I know logically it could take a while!

KitchenWeasel · 21/09/2013 08:42

Hi wine thats too true, I spent years on the coil/pill and now think how quickly would it of happened if there wasn't the added pressure of TTC?

It took us 19 cycles of half heartedly (not tracking ov just dtd whenever) with DD and 1 cycle for BFP this time (although MC)

It varies so much but I hear the norm is 5 cycles. Smile
If you know when you're ov and doing it then, thats as much as you can do.
