Clomid success rates

Hi girls,

Just thought I'd keep you updated. Aunt Flo is due on Monday... Have been having the "early" pregnancy symptoms AGAIN this month! Been doing research on the internet and kinda got my hopes up a bit too much when a couple of women had said that they had simular feelings to me and found out they were pregnant. Got my hopes up thinking that MAYBE this month we had our little miracle. But after speaking to my fertility doctor (who dashed all hopes I had!) by telling me that these symptoms were actually more commonly associated with clomid side effects. :(

So have absolutely NO hope for this Monday and have already put my prescription in my handbag to collect tomorrow for more clomid as I've already come to terms with the fact that is isnt this month. Got huby booked in for another sperm count on Monday as well - to see if the lifestyle changes have done anything to improve the lazy little so n so's

How is everyone else?? Any news or hopes your ends????

Got all my fingers and toes crossed for you all. I hope at least one of us has some baby luck soon.

Starting to think I may just give up and accept that I'll never be a mummy. Clomid has made me ovulate every time for 3 months and we've done everything we were supposed to.

Firstly congratulations on your great news! hope everything works out.

As for the the other things you are absolutely right.

Will just have to keep my fingers crossed for my second cycle. As everyone says it will happen when you least expect it!

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having trouble conceiving. However, it's great that you're now on Clomid (my fertility consultant used to call them 'magic baby pills' because they really can work wonders). AmyLiz23 gives some really good advice when she says to try if you can to not focus entirely on it. People used to say that to me (and I usually wanted to hit them!) but I now realise it was the best advice. Whilst I was thinking only of conceiving it never happened. As soon as my mind was elsewhere (and I mean REALLY elsewhere - I was moving house, completing my MSc and struggling with a nervous breakdown) I ended up accidentally falling pregnant. I'm now 8 weeks. I'm not telling you this to make you feel worse or envious or upset, but I sincerely hope that it helps you to hear from someone (me) who thought it would NEVER happen (both my husband and I are infertile with low sperm count and pcos) but for whom it happened when I was least focussed on it.

It might be worth finding something to really throw yourself into and obsess over - something that takes up all your thoughts and mental energy (ie become gym obsessive or embark on a career re-think or plan a detailed itinerary for a trip away etc). I know conventional advice is to do as little as poss and not take on stress, but in my experience that just made me focus even more on the infertility thing. As soon as I became v v v stressed about something else the fertility improved.

I hope that somehow helps. I don't mean to be prescriptive though and I hope you have some really good luck with your next cycle.

Not thinking about it is like trying to ignore the white elephant in the room! But you are right. Stress is the biggest problem when TTC.

LIFESNEVERSIMPLE i too had all the signs of pregnancy! but low and behold mine came too! At least we can still enjoy our baby dancing!

All i can say is try not think about it too much and relax. i found myself thinking about it constantly! But i have taken a step back this month and just think to myself that its better to not think about it

Im new to this, just been reading all you stories and they've given me some hope.

Been TTC for over year, unfortunately things are never simple for me. Have a history of PCOS and am currently trying my first month of clomid. Had my first day 21 progesterone and got the result, only to find that I did not ovulate (16) . Worst thing is that I have had the worst stomach pains, nausea and seem to just want to spend my time in the 'little womens' room. Just a little fustrated and wanted to speak to people in the same situation as me. Waiting for my period now (day23) which no doubt will come. So month 2 will soon begin.

I have just finished my 2nd cycle of clomid so hoping that it will make me ovulate again this month so fingers crossed xx

I too have PCOS (have had it for 16 years since I was 14). DH and I spent last 18 months TTC and enduring thousands of blood tests/vaginal scans/hysterosalpingograms etc and were told in April by our specialist that it would never happen naturally (I dont ovulate and my DH has unbelievably low sperm count and poor quality sperm). I was devastated. I was prescribed 3 months of Clomid (they said there was only a v tiny chance of it working tho due to our double infertility). I delayed in taking it due to moving house and having a nervous breakdown, so I haven't started taking it yet.

HOWEVER... when I started to recover from the nervous breakdown last week I realised I've not had a period since early June (which is unusual even for me with my chaotic pcos cycle). I did a test (well, 4 tests to be exact) and somehow I'm pregnant!

I don't want to be insensitive on here by crowing about being pregnant (I know all-too well the years of heartache that fertility probs and hearing about others becoming pregnant cause). But I genuinely hope that my tale can offer some real hope and comfort to all those of you on Clomid and going through the pain of thinking it'll never happen. If I can conceive despite both me and my husband being infertile and despite lots of stress, ill health, not eating, upheaval etc then there is definitely hope for everyone.

Just remember - it will happen when you LEAST expect it and when it seems like the least likely thing in the world. Nature has a funny way of playing tricks on us and will never cease to suprise.

hello tigermouse, i have been through the exact same as you!! i have pcos too!!! had loads of investigations which wasnt nice!! have just finished taking 2nd round of clomid so am keeping my fingers crossed!!! im glad to hear that clomid regulates your periods as mine are all over the place ha!! xx

T-Mouse Thanks for that i figured i was doing it wrong LOL. But that aside i am regular still i got my hopes up this month even though i kept saying to may partner that i wont be!! But deep down i know i wanted to be but hay hoo what will be will be and the TTC is the best part!!!

Have just found this website as wanted to share my experiences with other PCOS sufferers who are taking Clomid to TTC.

I am 24 years old and my partner is 25. I have had PCOS since I was about 18/19 so have always known this was going to be a gruelling journey to go on when I eventually found the right man! But may I just add, even though I have known about my condition for many years and have sort of come to terms with it - it doesnt by any means mean that it doesnt hurt everytime I hear one of friends has fallen pregnant or see it plastered all over Facebook! I know that hopefully it will be my turn one day but I understand how the rest of you feel - it cuts very deep and u cant help but feel extremely jealous.

My fiance and me started our fertility treatment back in May and I had to have a Hysterosalpingagram (not sure thats spelt correctly) and this procedure was one of the most painful experiences! Basically my first ever boyfriend gave me something horrible after he cheated on me which went undiscovered until I had a horrible case of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease which showed up the infection, which meant that before the Sub Fertility Doc could start me on Clomid I had to have this done to make sure there wasnt a blockage in one of my fallopian tubes - anyway... there was and this is why it was SO painful.

After this was done they started me on Clomid 50mg to be taken from days 2-6 of my cycle. I had read in a few places on the web that falling pregnant on the first go was quite common and got my hopes so much that I even started picking names!! Which only made me even more upset when Aunt Irma turned up on day 33! (I thought I was going to come on my P on day 28 as my ovulation predictor tests came back positive as if it was a 28 cycle, so got all my hopes thinking that I pregnant!)

I have just finished my 3rd month of Clomid and my ovulation test came back positive this morning so me and hubby to be are baby dancing tonight and every day til next tuesday/wednesday (if I havent knackered him out by then!lol)

Which means that after next Tues/Weds I am going to be a nightmare because I have to then wait yet another 2 weeks to see if Aunt Irma turns up or not.

Although I would like to give you lovely ladies a little bit of advice that I have found has helped me. I didnt get upset at the start of the month when P came. It wasnt meant to happen that month so theres always next month. Please dont sit there and obsess about becoming preg - I did this and it only led to heartache, you're periods should become regular 28 day cycles each time if you are relaxed and NOT stressed out - the Clomid helps make your P's regular so just sit back and let it do all the work inside your body - AND dont plan and regiment the baby dancing - the stress of this I have found will make you too tight for penetration and you wont enjoy it (it hurt me so bad last month that I couldnt actually do it anymore). Spend at least 30 mins - an hour on foreplay and enjoy the baby dancing.

Well i am not sure now on my cycles because i use to work from the last day of my period! BUT is this wrong and should it be from the first day of your period???? I am sooooooo confused if it is the latter and should be counted from your first day then i have a longer cycle than i first thought!! Could you clarify?

P.s. I just said to myself when it was negative that it was only the first month and i didnt expect to fall pregnant on the first cycle. I was ok about it but My darling fiance was pretty depressed all day bless him!

Sorry to hear of your negative result. Yes keep trying and try to think positive, only your first cycle on clomid. so still time to work!!

I was late this month by 2 days and really hoped i was pregnant! but unfotunatley i got a negative and my period the day after! OH well chin up more trying this month.

Well at least you can still do the business up until then! How long have you been on the clomid bullyforvic? Well i am due on saturday.... My boobs are killing and i am sooooo tired its unbelieveable and i was having them pains last weeks were it was a dull ache! i dont think it will be this month though i think its my body playing tricks with my emotions .

Hi AmyLiz23 yes came on period on Monday...was gutted! :( Felt like it might have been this month. Well should be thankful that the clomid is working and I have been ovulating! More of the 'business' me thinks!! :)

Have to go for a colposcopy on 15th so have been advised not to take my clomid this month as it would be a waste because you can't have intercourse after the colposcopy.

Hi BULLYFORVIC.. i phoned first thing this morning i was excited! i did actually ovulate! they didnt tell me the actual figures though . yeah it was like a dull ache! all day yesturday i had it! right at the bottom of my abdomen!? My boobs dont hurt though but i am not due on until a week on sunday! so fingers crossed everyone!!!

I got my results today and it showed that I did ovulate, apparently they look for over 30 and mine was 37.5 (?? have no idea what that means). Day 28 today and been having anything up to 33 day cycles, my boobs hurt but no other signs.

I have been having pains around the middle of my cycle, like dull ache but not in the stomach and not like a period (??)

I have a quick question i am due on next week. a week on sunday to be exact if i have a 28 day cycle as usual! but today i am experiencing a pain which i would usually get when i come on! its not a severe but still uncomfortable! anybody else experienced this?
