I know a lot of people on here have taken it. I just wanted to know how many cycles it took to work and what dose were you on? I just feel like hearing a few positive stories.

I just had one of those sinking moments when I read a thread with someohe saying they were 6 months pregnant and I realsied thats what I would have been if I didn't have a miscarriage.

Welcome to NorthernDoll and Warlin and good luck.

AF arrived, a couple of days late which had me going.. anyway now we're back to CD10 on our 2nd round of Chlomid. The side effects weren't as dramatic this month, but I was still pretty tetchy while I was taking the course. We'll be getting busy for a few days now.

Fingers crossed everyone!

twolittlemonkeys · 22/02/2011 22:05

I conceived DS1 on 3rd cycle of Clomid. DS2 was conceived naturally, no AF in between DS1&2. Restarted Clomid last year and conceived again (1st cycle) but MCd at 9 weeks, then did one on 50mg but it no longer worked so have now done 2 cycles on 100mg. Taking a break this month as ttc really getting me down and the Clomid I have left is basically my last shot so I have to use it carefully as I can't get any further treatment. :(

NorthernDoll · 22/02/2011 21:50

Hi
I have PCOS and me and hubby desperate to have baby. Just finished provera to bring on period then starting 50mg of chlomid on days 2-6 as soon as it starts. Really excited, this is the first step for us. Really hope we have the same success as others. Keep in touch, will keep you updated. x

Greeneyesbigbottom · 18/02/2011 16:31

Halliegirl thanks for letting me know that!

We tried all the supermarket pharmacies, then discovered Tesco would split the prescription for us and would charge £20 per month - except they were out of stock and I was on CD2. So another month to wait now!!!

I can't wait to get started, but obviously worried about side effects and failure.

Good luck to you all

BabyBunz · 18/02/2011 13:55

hi warlin - It's hard to say. But if you don't ovulate on 50mg, it may help to increase to 100mg. That's why my RE increased my dose. I know what you mean about being depressed! I'm just trying to stay positive. Smile

cazweiner - I just finished my 5 days of 100mg. It's strange but I didn't feel as many hot flushes as on 50mg. I did have some strange dreams though. That's the only side effect I had.

HallieGirl · 18/02/2011 08:42

Greeneyesbigbottom - I have also gone private for my treatment (4 months before I could even see anyone on the NHS).. Anyway I can't remember how much I paid but they advised me that it would be cheapest to go to the pharmacy in my local NHS hospital.

cazweiner · 17/02/2011 21:32

Babybunz i am now on 100mg but only for 1 month then i have to see where i am after that!!
But i can't start them till my next cycle starts which is not till the end of feb!!
I'm not looking forward to the hot flushes and they might be even worse on the higher dose!!

Good luck girls

xx

Warlin · 17/02/2011 14:37

Hi All

I am new to this thread and see that you are all on clomid. I have just got my AF after my second month of clomid (50g d2-7) so am depressed!

My GP intially gave me 2 months and referred me to a Clinic who told me not to take it until they had done some other tests. I clearly don't ovulate, so took the second mth anyway! Upset it didn't work. DH is going to give a sample next week.

I'm worried that my 6 months will be gone and I won't have got preg. I don't have PCOS and have regular 32 day cycles. Without clomid, I have low progesterone but with clomid it is always over 30. I get my day 21 bloods taken each month and my day 2 are normal.

Does anyone think a higher dose would help?

Thanks

BabyBunz · 14/02/2011 13:30

cazweiner - I'm glad you are trying another round. Doubled dose?? I wonder if you and I are on the same dose now - 100mg? My RE said the same thing...that my follies were not getting big enough.

Took my first dose for Round 2 last night. No side effects so far.

queenolive - hope you are doing well.

hi greeneyesbigbottom and hallehope - My prescription insurance is pretty good so I get a 1 month supply of the generic clomiphene for $5. Remember, the generic has the same active ingredient as the brand and will save you money!

My RE gave me refills, but I'm pretty sure most docs will not authorize a 3 month supply at a time. They know what we'll do with it! Wink

QueenOlive · 13/02/2011 14:52

Casweiner - Thinking of you with your double dose, and hope you're feeling OK.

Greeneyesbigbottom & Hallehope - Welcome and good luck.

We had a private prescription just for 1 month that we got from Boots and it was £8 something. Does it really make sense to get so much stock in? Wouldn't it be better to get 3 months at a time?

Hallehope - don't know what your chances are if the problem is on your OH's end of the process, but I guess the clomid will make sure that your eggs are in the right place at the right time.

Hallehope · 12/02/2011 19:21

Hi I'm a 28 year old mother of 1 my husband and I have been trying for baby number 2 for over 5 years I have recently been given clomide by my specialist and am due to start next month, my husband has a lower than average sperm count due to a childhood surgery to bring his testicles down. It is obviously not impossible for us to consieve as we have our son but does anyone know how much a lower than average sperm count will effect the success rates of clomide xxx thanks you for your time xxx

Greeneyesbigbottom · 10/02/2011 15:57

Hi,

Hope everyone is ok today??

Please forgive me for jumping straight in here, but I have to get it today (CD2). I was wondering if anyone had a private prescription for Clomid and if so, how much did it cost for 6 months? I've been to various pharmacies and the difference in costs varies. confused

Hoping someone can point me in the cheapest right direction!!!

I'm also getting scared and very unsure about taking it. However, this is our last resort so I know I have nothing to lose.

cazweiner · 10/02/2011 10:35

QO you might find that have lap may just help i got pregnant just after mine it does something to your insides clears it out a bit!!!

Not long now i really hope it works for you??!!

When are you due for your period?

xx

QueenOlive · 09/02/2011 21:41

CD21 here, so in no man's land and wondering if round 1 has worked. I don't think that we got the days right this time, and I'm still recovering from laparoscopy really.

Casweiner - double the dose? You must feel terrible! Take it easy.

cazweiner · 09/02/2011 08:01

I went to the doc's yesterday and they have doubled my dose of clomid!!
They said that my follicles were not big enough last cycle and the lining of my womb was not thick enough!!

How are you ladies getting on?

xx

BabyBunz · 01/02/2011 17:08

Hi all,

Disappointing news today CD19...Had another scan and my follicles stopped growing around ~9mm so RE is pretty sure I will not ovulate this cycle. They're starting me on Provera again so AF will show, then they're upping my dosage to Clomid 100mg days 5-9. I asked him if I should be taking it earlier in my cycle, but he said that it normally only helps in older women to produce more follicles. He's optimistic that I will ovulate on 100mg, but if not, we are going to move to something else. Already?! He's pretty aggressive...it's good, but also a little nervewracking.

sweetsherry - welcome and good luck. fingers crossed for you.
(just to let you know - if clomid doesn't work, they are other oral medications and injectables you can try without having to do IVF)

queenolive - i know some doctors don't do scans, but i agree with cazweiner, it gives you peace of mind to know what is going on in your body. and it's faster than waiting for bloodwork to come back. i think either is fine though.

cazweiner - hope you are doing well.

Well, on to cycle 2...i hate how i feel on Provera. Sad

sweetsherry · 01/02/2011 08:54

QO - I haven't had any scans, only CD21 tests. Which are normally fine - but normally I OV around CD15-16, this month it was between CD20-22. All messed up.

CD27 for me, BFN so far (but it would still be too early anyway, I tell myself..)

cazweiner · 01/02/2011 08:05

Hey Queenolive your doc should of got you in for scans my doc didn't for my first 2 cycles and when i went back to the hospital on my third it was a different doc that i saw and he said i should of been having them all along and it does give you a sense of peace to know exactely when you are gonna OV !

xx

QueenOlive · 31/01/2011 21:51

Hi Sweetsherry - welcome and we'll all be hoping for a no show for you on Wednesday.

Is it routine to be having scans to check for folicles every month? My doctor hasn't suggested this, but should I be asking - or does it just add to an already stressful situation?

Due to OV about Wednesday/ Thursday. Feeling a bit bloated, but otherwise fine.

sweetsherry · 30/01/2011 19:19

Hi - can I join in?! Plse?!

I've been on Clomid 50mg for 3 cycles now - AF due on Weds, not sure I'm optimistic any more that Clomid's going to work for me. But there are not that many other options, since DH refuses point-blank to contemplate IVF.

I did the CD21 test this montH, as the FS requested - I'm sure it'll say I didn't OV, even though I think I did - because I got a +ve OPK...on the evening of CD21, AFTER doing the blood test at the hospital.

Hmm.

BabyBunz · 28/01/2011 21:29

WantBaby - I'm not sure, but maybe the stress of trying is getting to him? It's probably stress from trying combined with stress from the work week. It's all so much pressure. So he doesn't have the problem at other times of your cycle? Maybe he can get a prescription. Some docs will also give coupons for free sample prescriptions (I'm a pharmacist).

Cazweiner - oh gosh, I'm so sorry. Are you going to try another round or take a break? I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, QueenOlive. Fingers crossed for you this cycle. I had the same side effects during my course.

Had my scan today - lining looks good and 4 follies around 10mm...my RE wants them to be around 20mm so I go for another scan in about 4 days. Hopefully I'll ovulate or he'll give me a shot to force it. So that means I won't ovulate until CD21?? I thought that was weird but he wasn't concerned at all.

This cycle seems to be taking forever!
