Oh tea I'm sorry you're having a difficult time at the moment, although I have to say your post with the bits about cat snarling and breeding pregnant women made me chuckle a bit...

Jokes aside though, seriously look after yourself and best of luck

Crossing fingers for you too Smile

Thanks Snoozy and Mentalkattitude (fab names!), and all else for advice. Usually relatively mellow about the conceiving, but the mc has made it feel a bit different this time round. Shoudn't grumble, lots of women on here have had awful late mc, and mine was first trimester, but I'm being an arseache this week. I sat next to a women on the train this week who was going to rub a hole through her dress if she stroked her pregnant tummy any faster, my work colleague is being rather precious about her (first) pregnancy (which is making me ratty and jealous), and everywhere I look pregnant women are breeding (ha - I meant that they were multiplying, rather than they are LITERALLY breeding!)

I'm off to snarl at my cat (not really) and surf stone fireplaces (ie look for them online, not a death wish at the beach) and to not even think about the whole sodding idea until POAS day on Sunday (should just pocket the £5 and wait til AF on Monday).

Crossing fingers for the rest of you, chaps x

snoozysleeper · 08/08/2013 14:49

arkady it sounds like you've had difficulties before so here's hoping this time will be different for you Flowers

And purple good luck for your 2ww, I think you're wise to be looking for distractions so not to get too obsessed --such an easy trap- -

snoozysleeper · 08/08/2013 13:19

Welcome aboard all Smile

I'm aware that 25% is the stat that is quoted for chance of conception per month in normally fertile couples...it seems like such a low figure Sad

I don't see any harm in having sex more regularly, every day if you want to-- entirely up to you and what works for your relationship, I found this below on some late night googling...

"The finding, presented at the 2007 American Society for Reproductive Medicines Annual Conference, and which is of particular significance to couples facing challenges of conceiving, suggested that daily sex could increase the quantity of sperm produced and improve the chances of pregnancy.

The research, which suggested that sperm sitting in the body accumulates damage as it ages, indicated that if sperm is released in a steady stream, due to steady sex, the sperm that is ejaculated contains newer and less-damaged cells.

Australian researchers, looking at the sperm quality in more than 40 men whose wives had either failed to get pregnant through Invitro fertilisation(IVF) or had repeatedly miscarried, found that when the men had no sex for three days, their sperm contained high levels of DNA damage. Ironically, on testing the men after having sex every day for a week, the amount of damage dropped by a third.

Dr Abisola Abisoye-Ogunniyan, an embryologist, in an edition of Fertility Update, a publication by The Bridge Clinic, stated the significance of semen quality in couples facing challenges of conception.

According to the expert, one day of abstinence can cause at least 20 per cent reduction in the sperm count. So the longer the period of abstinence from sex, the poorer the sperm count.

He added: ?But with sex at least three to four times a week, the chances of getting pregnant is higher if they meet that once a week or say at weekends.?

And then despite this there are studies showing how strong a factor stress is Sad

I think if you spent long enough on the Internet you could find evidence either way , they also say don't dtd every day for longer than a week because it can adversely affect sperm count

I think you could drive yourself mad looking at stats on the Internet ... So my opinion is just to do what feel right for you and your partner Flowers

Purplestorm83 · 08/08/2013 11:14

Hi, my first post on this forum! I only started TTC this month, now half way through the 2ww - the first week wasn't too bad but I can't believe I've still got a week to go! I think part of my problem is lack of distractions - I'm a teacher, so not working at the mo. I agree with the people above who said to not let it take over your life - at least if I get bfn this time I'll be distracted by work next month so won't obsess so much!

ArkadyRose · 08/08/2013 09:12

Even if you DTD every single day during your fertile period, apparently there's still only a 25% chance you'll fall pregnant.

My problem isn't the falling pregnant bit usually, it's the holding onto it afterwards bit. I suspect I'm one of those hyperfertile women whose body tries to hold onto every embryo, even the ones that would never ordinarily get as far as 4-5 weeks. So getting a BFP will just be the start of different stress. Trying not to think about that too much right now though.

Gingerandcocoa · 08/08/2013 07:12

It's just so crazy, because when you're avoiding a pregnancy you think that even if one time you have unprotected sex you are probably going to get pregnant... And now, I think the the 5 times I DTD during my fertile period aren't enough lol!!!!

Positivementakattitude · 07/08/2013 23:11

Thanks snoozy and gingerand cocoa yeh I am thinking about it too much but mainly as tomorrow is period due day and in the day luckily very distracted as run my own business and moving office sept so very very busy and my other half driving me up the wall as he off work

Even though not thinking about it it always in the back of your mind, I find anyway this is my first real time and month ttc no sign of the witch yet either.

International yes I feel your pain but hopefully out bfp will come soon and can join the club bfp do come and that should give us hope Grin instead of Envy possibly lol

We can all but try. Maybe I should add 5 my friends due in next 5 months one very good friend since school in labour as we speak envy is one emotion I am very familiar with but also glad not every woman has to go through this ! Xxxx

internationallove985 · 07/08/2013 21:43

Hi Gingerandcocoa. I agree you shouldn't let ttc take over your life. Easier said than done, no argument there. I avoided coming on here for a few days as was at a really ebb and I was getting very envious of all the b.f.p.s (God that sounds terrible doesn't it) but now the witch has cleared off I'm feeling much more positive. x

Gingerandcocoa · 07/08/2013 19:20

positive and tea, hope you find ways to take your mind off of pregnancy related things (at least when you're not on MN!)

I went to a meeting for 1.5 hours today and didn't think of whether I'm pregnant or not not even once!!!

snoozysleeper · 07/08/2013 18:28

I know more versatile emoticons would be good! Sending hugs to tea and positive Smile

Positivementakattitude · 07/08/2013 13:52

Positivementakattitude · 07/08/2013 13:50

Tea and natter sorry to hear of your loss and yeh I know the feeling very grumpy as dreaded AF due and dreading the reminder of mc in July (last time had anywhere near AF)

Torture and days going so slow now typical need to try snap out of it but know when I see read ill either be an emotional mess or a dragon b*itch from hell !!! Not sure which I would prefer prob both knowing me

Wish there was an emoti to even show half what I feel right now men get easy but but then dealing with me I feel for him

Sending big hugs and smiles we will get through xxx

TeaAndANatter · 07/08/2013 09:56

Feeling grumpy this week. Moved from feeling very sad about the miscarriage to feeling sad mixed with episodes of displaced rage about the mc. Grump, grump, grump. Due to POAS 11/12th, but feeling like it's not going to happen. Grumpy, grump, grump. Buh!

Also feeling chunky monkey, so feel like I ought to reduce the ass-age, but love food very much (I'm size 10, but my thighs are making a bid for world domination this year). Grr.

2ww can go boil it's head. Why isn't there an unreasonably cross emoticon?!

Positivementakattitude · 06/08/2013 23:49

I do kind of regret asking you, as I've now convinced myself I'm really tired or it could be just from working for 7 hours and studying for 3

snoozysleeper · 06/08/2013 17:56

thank you for your story too, I will try not to use it to help me symptom spot!! Shock

Writerwannabe83 · 06/08/2013 16:01

I got my BFP on Saturday 20th July.

On the previous Monday when I was 7 dpo I felt absolutely exhausted. There was no reason for it at all and I was just drained of all energy. It lasted about 2 days and then completely went away. One of my colleagues joked that I might be pregnant but I laughed it off.

However, I noticed over the course of the week that I also seemed to be going the toilet all the time. I was having wee, after wee after wee. It was when this started happening that I began to wonder.

On the Friday night, the eve of my BFP my left boob felt very achey - but I thought it was because my bra was just digging in. I actually took a test that night as I knew my period was due at the weekend and it was BFN.

I took another test on Saturday morning with my first urine of the day and that came back as BFN too. However, at 4pm I tested again and got my BFP Grin
