I can't really complain as I already have my son and an early mc is not that terrible compared to what many other people go through, but I do have my moments of self-pity!

Good luck to everyone testing tomorrow Flowers

gillywillywoo · 17/07/2013 19:05

Oh jelly I'm so sorry Sad
Must feel horrible... I feel like that now and I'm still trying for my first and never had even a hint of a bfp! So can't imagine what it's like to have it taken away Sad

It will get better and I'm sure you will get your bfp soon enough Thanks

I'm going to POAS on Saturday. I'll only be 9/10dpo by then but I have Internet Cheapies and I'm going out so I want to know if I can have a drink.
I think, like you Gilly I'd rather be let down gently by testing a couple of times.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 17/07/2013 19:01

Today I went into the doctor's surgery to pick up a prescription and as I got it, I saw a woman and knew - just knew - that she was going to ask for a booking-in appointment with the midwife. She did. I actually flinched - it was like acid on my skin. That was me, just a few weeks ago with my brand-new pregnancy and now here I am scrutinizing sticks for non-existent lines all over again.

I'm ashamed to say that for a split second I hated that woman. And dragged my toddler out of the surgery whereupon he had a massive meltdown (he loves going to the doctor!) and just managed not to burst into tears in the street.

ThoraNomiki · 17/07/2013 18:57

Ooh very exciting Grin I love a bit of suspense..
Congratulations Impatiently!!

ArmyWag My cousin, a PCOS sufferer (who, at age 17, was told she was very unlikely to have children) has 5 beautiful children, all conceived naturally. Fortunately the professionals know more about it now and PCOS does not mean infertility. There are things you can do, yourself, such as diet and exercise which can help control it and make a huge difference to your chances of conception Smile
I'm sorry of that sounds patronising - I've done a lot of reading about it as I have a feeling I may also have it due to long/irregular cycles, pains and some other symptoms.

gillywillywoo · 17/07/2013 18:57

Well good luck! Smile

Silly me just tested with one of my cheapies.. I'm only 9dpo so don't know why I bothered! Bfn obviously!!!!!!! Grin

Feeling a bit concerned as next month when I'm due to ovulate I will have my brother, his wife and their baby staying with us for 3 nights and really won't be able to dtd whilst they're here.. Thin walls and rooms right opposite each other.

Obviously I'm keeping everything crossed for a bfp this month.. Or that I ovulate a bit later next month (ie once they've gone!!!!!!)

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 18:48

I won't be though, I don't have any other signs or symptoms. If you can't tell, I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

gillywillywoo · 17/07/2013 18:45

Great! Grin

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 18:40

I promise to buy a First Response kit tomorrow and test at work Grin

gillywillywoo · 17/07/2013 18:35

Does that make sense?

No!

Now get testing! Grin

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 18:33

I won't be able to get any more until tomorrow now Sad

However, I'm pretty sure it won't be a real positive.

I keep telling myself that the line has appeared just because of how long the test has been sitting there - but then why wouldn't this have happened to the other two test sticks as well??

At the minute I'm in a happy state of, "I might be...."
I'm not sure I want to ruin it by taking another test and getting a real BFN.

Does that make sense?

gillywillywoo · 17/07/2013 18:26

Noooooo! Quick go out and get more!!!!!! Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 18:22

OP posts:
gillywillywoo · 17/07/2013 18:18

Tea1sugar 21% of people get a false negative at 11dpo... And also it depends on the type of test you use. Some can be used early and pick up really small levels of the pregnancy hormone.. Others take longer to work Smile

Congrats impaitentlywaiting :)

Thanks again for the support guys.. I'm glad in a way that I know what's going on and now I can start treatment if I need it. gilly you should see your doc and explain, they should send you for a ultrasound.

Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 18:17

I have just emptied the bathroom bin and when I tipped it upside down the pregnancy test I took this morning fell out and there is a very faint, but definitely there, line in the Test Window!!

I know that delayed readings can be inaccurate so I rummaged through the rest of the rubbish (classy, I know) to get my two sticks from the previous days, which both read as negative, and both of those have empty Test Windows still.

I ran to the bedroom to find the instruction leaflets seeing as I hadn't read them before and it says that in order to ensure any negative result is a true negative then wait the maximum 5 minutes before reading the result. There is no way I waited 5 minutes this morning! I'd had my wee, saw the Control Line appear in the window and when nothing appeared in the Test Window I just threw it away - I thought pregnant results were instant! I probably left it about 2 minutes max this morning before I threw it in the bin.

Also, the tests I bought only read positives at levels of 20mlU/ml - so they are the least sensitive ones, hence why they say wait the full 5 minutes before obtaining the real result.

So now I'm all in a panic - what if I am???

Or am I kidding myself???

Why didn't I read the damn instructions in the first place?!

Tea1sugar - you're mental!!! Getting a bfn at 11dpo means nothing.. Quite frankly it's too early to be testing for most people anyway!
Don't be so silly! Grin

OP posts:
DisneyDiva87 · 17/07/2013 17:46

I don't think so Writer there is a chance you could still be preggers and it's just not showing yet. You shouldn't really count yourself out until AF shows up Tea!

Congrats Impatient!! Flowers

impatientlywaiting · 17/07/2013 17:46

Thanks all, I really can't believe it.
Writer - there isn't no way that you can be pregnant, but the stats on fertility friend say 80% of BFP's are shown at 11 dpo, so if you are pregnant you're likely to see it by 11dpo.
That's why I thought I was out, I thought I was 12dpo on Sunday so when I got the BFN I thought I was out. I either O'd later than I thought, or I'm one of the people who don't get a BFP's until later.

Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 17:36

Tea1Sugar - is a BFN 11dpo the cut off point then?

I.e if we don't have a BFP by that point there's no way we can be pregnant

Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2013 17:35

Congratulation ImpatientlyWaiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So exciting!!!
