Have got a new kitty to take mind off things....he's a sphynx so no fur.

not a newborn replacement or anything like that

Tomkat79 · 02/07/2013 21:14

I'm due AF today...mind you that's based on 28 day cycle that I used to have...wtf knows these days! Maybe ill hold out and if AF doesn't arrive then ill try again Friday.

Am very lucky DH understands so tonight we're gonna sit here with our pimms lol and c bomb together :-)

RainbowConnections · 02/07/2013 20:46

Tomkat sorry re BFN. Were you POAS early? I can't remember your timing. Sounds like a bad day. Other pregnancies are tough.

I was very "Pollyanna" after first MC, now I just feel bitter etc. when I want to, and to be honest I feel better for it.

Aly I used First Response and then Boots own brand OPKs, only ever got faint lines but got pregnant. Most recent pregnancy used Clear Blue digital that detects 2 days. On smiley face day I tested leftover sticks from the other 2 - yep 3 sticks at once! Both other 2 again only showed faint lines.
Hopefully every other night has done it. Fingers crossed you get your BFP this summer.

alyant79 · 02/07/2013 20:37

hugs tomkat. it's hard all the time sometimes isn't it?

Sal1977 · 02/07/2013 20:06

I'm so constantly mad and bitter at the moment that I drop about 20 'C-Bombs' a day.....Grin

Tomkat79 · 02/07/2013 19:39

Thanks trinpy. I'm not usually bitter and twisted! Just really held out a lot of hope for this month. We've all been through so much on this thread, just all a bit much sometimes isn't it xxx

Trinpy · 02/07/2013 19:30

So sorry to hear that tomkat. God knows why the timing of this stuff always has to be so cruel Angry . Completely understandable that you feel upset/angry. Though I know that doesn't make it any easier.

Tomkat79 · 02/07/2013 19:11

Poas today, stupid BFN.

Then saw old friend who haven't seen all year who happily announced that she's 5 months pregnant and her due date is around what mine should've been. It was apparently a total accident. I don't normally get like this but mumbled congratulations...now I'm so upset and angry :-(

alyant79 · 02/07/2013 16:19

seaside i was constantly starving when pg with what turned out to be my mmc. Even before I got the bfp.

welcome trinpy and iowra. Sorry you're here. I sympathise with the close due dates. I've got two friends with exactly the same EDD that I had. it's rapidly approaching in august Sad. i really hope that i have some good news by then to see me through that time.

thanks for the advice re temps and cheapie sticks guys. i tried the cb digi advance last month and it gave me some funny results too, so maybe ov sticks in general just aren't for me. low levels of LH or something?
But i'm loving the temping. didn't think i would but i find seeing my temp every morning somehow satisfying. And seeing the temp jump was really striking. Somehow it seems much more real compared to sticking a strip in a cup of wee.
if i did ov on sunday we completely missed the 3 day in a row shagathon that SMEP called for... bugger. but we've been managing every 2nd night since the middle of last week so hopefully that'll be enough.
Come on sperm! come on egg! make a baby! oooh how i hope that there's a little 4 cell embryo cruising along a tube right now

icklemssunshine1 · 02/07/2013 15:29

Seaside there was one week in January where I couldn't get enough food, two weeks later I had my BFP (unfortunately that little bean decided not to stick around). However I didn't have any symptoms at all with my DD.

Sorry, that probably hasn't helped!

SeasideLily · 02/07/2013 15:14

Ladies, I'm cracking and symptom spotting. I'm trying very hard not to as it just raises my hopes, but I'm STARVING! All the time, I'm getting so hungry I feel sick. I also feel generally dodgy, and my lower back hurts. I'm probably just getting ill, but it's lucky our office is in the middle of nowhere or I'd have been out foraging the nearest supermarket. Am I being stupid? Is being ravenous a pg sign, or just an 'it's cold today' sign?!

icklemssunshine1 · 02/07/2013 14:48

If it wasn't for my horrendous weekend I think I would have plodded on crossing my fingers. Saturday was a wake up call. I'm now not just spotting at OV but bleeding heavily so there's no chance of us conceiving ify body is going to do that each month. Just for to wait to have the pesky cyst removed! So sad for your friend. Must have been heartbreaking to come to that conclusion :(

Trinpy · 02/07/2013 14:40

Also, it can take months to get a referral - it took me 9 months and then I had to wait just over 2 months after that before I could get an initial appointment. So my advice would be to get in there asap and start the ball rolling.

Trinpy · 02/07/2013 14:35

sundance I got a referral through my gp. If you are going to be an NHS patient then you obviously need to do the same, but even if you are private it makes sense to have as many tests done through your gp as possible, because the clinic will ask for them and, done privately, it can all get quite expensive before you've even started on treatment.

I had day 3 and day 21 blood tests done to test fsh and lh levels checked, bloods to check prolactin, haemoglobin, rubella status, thyroid function, and swabs done too. dh had a semen analysis and will probably need a 2nd, and he had a blood test, although this wasn't a requirement of our clinic.

I found it helpful to keep a copy of any tests I had done.

Sundance2007 · 02/07/2013 14:34

Wow, that was nice of her! But well done you for pushing it too.

A friend of mine has just given up on ttc after 3 years of trying, and 2 failed attempts at IVF - I felt so sad for her as she's only 37. She has no children yet (neither do I) but was quite adamant that I should push for help conceiving ASAP as the ticking clock just whizzes by.

I'm going to give it one more month of this and then try my luck getting a gp to refer me! Thanks icklemiss!

icklemssunshine1 · 02/07/2013 14:07

sundance, I went to my GP and basically ranted at her for 5 minutes. I'd just been discharged from hospital as I was heavily bleeding & was so fed up of being told I am ovulating although I have irregular periods, I just let her have all my frustration! I said it took 13 months to conceive my pg I lost to MC & since then my periods have been abnormal from a mixture of MC & PCO. I said I couldn't wait another 13 months as I'm nearing 35 and I want another child. She made me an appointment there & then & set me up to have a blood test too. I was surprised especially as she isn't my regular GP - he's in annual leave. Don't know if it helped that she's the only female at my practice, she's my age & has a DS same age as my DD. Maybe she related? I'd definitely push for a referral. I think we're too anxious not to make a fuss & we should!

Sundance2007 · 02/07/2013 14:01

ddmf - I have heard of them, though I hadn't associated them with pain relief. I don't think anyone on this board has a weak stomach when it comes to stuff like that either, we've seen much worse.

My problem is that I'm lazy, anything that requires cleaning usually goes in the dishwasher and I don't think a mooncup would be welcome amongst the cups and plates! Haha.

I'd been on a progesterone only contraception pill before trying, and it was like a miracle cure for me, the pains completely went and I hardly noticed my periods. Obviously when I came off I was back to being in agony, and they are worse since the mc. Another reason I can't wait to get pregnant!!

DearlyDepartedMrsFinch · 02/07/2013 13:46

sundance re. your pains. Would you consider using a Mooncup? or are you completely repulsed by the suggestion

I realise some might find them a bit too urgh, but I used to suffer cramps quite a bit and they completely disappeared after I gave tampons the heave-ho.

DearlyDepartedMrsFinch · 02/07/2013 13:41

Hope you are okay stars, I've been thinking of you today.

alyant, I'd be tempted to trust your temperatures over cheapie OPKs. It sounds like you had a pre-ovulation dip on Sunday then ovulated later that day. I used cheapie sticks when TTC DD2, but soon switched to the CBFM once I realized the cheapies were a bit hit and miss.

Sundance2007 · 02/07/2013 13:41

Welcome newbies, sorry you find yourselves here, hopefully your stay will be short though.

stars - hope everything went as well as can be expected today.

trinpy & icklemis - do you mind me asking about the fertility clinic appointments? Did your gp refer you or have you approached them yourselves? Think I need to go get looked at!

Af is definitely in the building! Was hoping if might be just spotting but no, full on attack from the old witch so I'm back to square one again!

Trying to find the positive...which in this case is that I can drink on holiday as we said we'd take a month off trying if not successful this time round. We fly on Saturday so af will have gone thankfully, the pains are getting worse every month, quite debilitating really.

SeasideLily · 02/07/2013 12:35

Sorry to see so many new faces here, lowra, Trinpy - stars, I hope today passes quickly and as well as possible for you, so sad for you.

Over - sorry for the slow response, couldn't check thread yesterday. I had some odd pains since surgery, and I think I can feel myself ovulating on that side now. I haven't had anything really painful though, except during acupuncture. It is strange, when she put needles in that side I get shooting and dragging pains around where my tube was. Am assured it's normal - gets much worse just before my period. Have one this evening and AF due Friday, so not looking forward to it! If they're really sore and keep happening, I'd go to your doc, but it's probably your body complaining about and getting used to having bits taken out of it.

I've found my cheapie OP sticks don't give me dark lines either - I'm glad you found the same JBrd, I was starting to worry I wasn't ovulating.

lowra · 02/07/2013 12:13

Hi, can I join too? Just getting over a mc at 5.5 weeks also. I have 1 dd already and have been trying to conceive number 2 for 9 months. Nothing until this cycle. We're going to start trying again straight away I think with opks this month.

icklemssunshine1 · 02/07/2013 12:02

Hi Trinpy, I'm in a similar situation to you. I should be 31 weeks pg now but miscarried at 11 weeks. Two days later I find out my friend is expecting twins 10 days after my EDD. Since the MC 7 other friends have announced their pgs. I've got an appointment at a fertility clinic in a couple of weeks, hoping for a positive result.

Trinpy · 02/07/2013 11:53

Can I join please?

Mc at 5.5 weeks 14 days ago.

Fertility issues of some kind on both sides but Im the real problem. Cycles never went back to normal after coming off bc 15mnths ago, so getting pregnant at all was a miracle. Hoping for another one now .

I have an appointment with the fertility clinic at the end of next month to discuss options (would have been last month but cancelled it when I found out I was pregnant, then mc the next day Angry ). In the mean time I'm desperate to conceive naturally again if I can!

Added to all this, my brother and sil are expecting their first baby a few weeks before mine would have been due. Posted about this on mc forum if anyone saw it.

Sorry for the long first post!

JBrd · 02/07/2013 11:09

Alyant - I find that with the cheap OPKs, the second line never gets as strong as the first one, in all the years I have been using them. So as soon as the second line appears, it's a positive. Sounds to me as if you ovulated on Sunday (the day before the temp starts going up).
