I am very lucky to have 3 lovely DS and am "allowed" one more child so I want to raise my chances of having a girl so any tips?

I know I am very lucky to have my boys and would be very happy to welcome another lovely son.

Lol. As hilarous as that sounds, that is the principle behind lowering the ph of your vagina in order to sway the odds of a girl sperm making it to the egg. InGender has tons of info on lime and vinegar douches.

Ok my unofficial study from a few years ago on here suggest that people who having knicker bleaching issues are more likely to have girls, so you need to somehow make your fanjo acidic, pour vinegar up there or something.

Have a look at the InGender website. It has lots of info on timing and diet to conceive a specific gender. Though timing and diet are just two of the seven 'factors' involved in swaying according to them. It's quite complex but they claim good success rates. By the way, they reckon the Shettles method is not reliable and that the so called 'O+12' method of timing (ie a few hours after ovulation) is better for conceiving a girl. Anyone got any evidence for this? Be interesting to have a mn poll on boy/girl conception timings!

this looks like the study

Ok, I'm doing a diet for girl, under med supervision by consultant at respected hospital (not UK). There is science to support it - will have a look for a link for you. The principle is you should increase your magnesium and calcium and reduce your sodium and potassium.

So: don't eat any salt or processed food - no bread, crackers, no soup, cereal, whatever. Look at ingredients carefully as even sweets and ice cream etc often contain salt. Don't eat high potassium foods: bananas, dried fruit, coffee, tomatoes, oranges, peppers. Drink >1 litre of milk per day. Take calcium and magnesium supplements every day.

I am not pg so don't know whether it works for me! Also my job involves a lot of eating in restaurants and a lot of foreign trips where I have little control over what I'm eating, so I don't follow very carefully. But I've changed my levels (at least they were good 2 months ago when I last had them tested).

Doctor says I can adjust my chances from 50-50 to 65-35. So only try it if you will welcome a 4th boy (which I expect is my destiny lol)

I did a diet as well, I can't find it on google or I'd recommend it, I got a book from the library, she's 12 now, old school! It was about eating for your pH level. Clearly these things don't work every time or we'd all be at it! I was going to try the douching next but didn't get the chance, that was pH related as well. Quite good fun as you're committed anyway. Let us know what you try!

Your best bet is to research the Shettles method. Not a huge amount of research to support it but it talks about timing. Just don't leave it too late and miss ovulation!

I know I have been around a while so not green lol! I have read today that if you want to try and sway pink you should take cranberry tablets / juice and up your calcium. It is quite mad the lengths some people go to now I have looked they change their who diet and DTD in only certain positions!

Lol, I love your disclaimers, get in there before the accusations fly! Wink

I tried everything I could find out about for #2, having already got a lovely boy and only planning to have 2 children. I did indeed have a daughter, goodness only knows if what I did influenced things in any way.

The only theory I would recommend is that male sperm swim faster but die younger and females are slower but more long-lived. If you know when you ovulate (I used a machine which tested urine) you can stop having sex a couple of days before hand (I forget the exact timings, please don't count on my memory) and the sperm still viable at ovulation is more likely to be female.

Does that make sense? Please do let me know if not Smile. Good luck.
