Clearblue digital OPK – smiley face (peak fertility) on day 8?

Has anybody used these and what are your experiences of them?

I?ve never been able to detect any natural signs of ovulation, so I tried unsuccessfully with the cheap ones bought on the Internet and never had any positive result from these, so started this month with the Clearblue digital ones (the newer version with the dual hormone indicator that is supposed to tell you your four most fertile days).

I only started testing yesterday on day 7 and got a low fertility result, but this morning (day 8) I got a smiley face! However, the test seems to have skipped the flashing ?high fertility? symbol and gone straight to the3 ?peak fertility? smiley face.

It just seems a bit early in the month to ovulate as the test would mean that I?d be ovulating in the next day or two (so, around day 10, I guess). Does that sound rather early? My cycle is usually 29 days, give or take a day. Or are these tests a bit inaccurate?

I'm starting to think these tests make the whole babymaking thing a lot more stressful than it already is!

Hi ladies.

I've been using clearblue dual opk for about a week now.. I'm cycle day 19 and ovulated on 29th June according to premom app but according the femometer app I ovulated yesterday... I have been using cheap opk strips too and have constantly had high readings on those! And I've had constant blank circles on the clearblue ones...I have pcos and very absent periods...however I have fallen pregnant twice naturally so I know I must ovulate at some point I just don't know when.
My 2nd time of conceiving led to a MC at 5 weeks 2 and half weeks ago, @AS2019 you give me hope that maybe I will get a flashy face sooner or later...I just feel like nothing is helping me get a result and its abit disheartening :( i read they are more accurate for pcos, as they track the two hormones so shouldn't give false positives. Hopefully theres more good reviews on here for them.

FINALLY GOT A HIGH ON DAY 23!

hello ladies

I think this is the first online post Iv ever done
But just had to as Iv been ripping my hair out all month thinking I don’t ovulate
Basics- ttc 18 months , two miscarriages ,PCOS and previous over active thyroid and hormone issues when I was in my teens ( too much testosterone).aged 28

I just couldn’t pin point when I was ovulating
My cycles are between 31-35
I was thinking surely I don’t ovulate that late in the month
Low and behold I get my 1st high on day 23
After 18 sticks ! Technically it’s day 24 but the moniter for some reason starts a day late as I started my bleed at 2pm so it’s registered day 1 on the first full day of bleeding which was the day after
Anyways moral of the storey is .. stick it out girls
I know it can be upsetting when all the odds are against you .
I did my test window 0500-1100 and this has worked for me
Mucus yes as they say like raw egg whites
Hopefully I get my peak and so does everybody else
Baby dust to all 🤗

Hi ladies, I've been using these and this month and this morning I got my 9 th flashing face in a row.......not sure what that means. ....am I going to peak or am I not going to peak?!?!?! This is all very confusing. Anyone had the same or can shed any light on it? We have only missed a couple of days out of trying it's been every night for the past 3 weeks we have been making love just so we don't miss ovulation but the tests say I haven't yet.......!?

Thanks

X

Hi,

I have recently started using the clear blue ovulation kits abut I have had 3 days blank and now i'm into my 7th day of high fertility, I haven't had peak fertility and now i'm worried that the tests are not working?

I don't know what else to do as was relying on these tests :(

Laniakea1979 · 01/01/2015 14:39

I had a blinking smiley for 4 days straight (always testing right when I wake up), and then a fixed smiley on 5th day. Dtd for the next two days, and decided to test again the following day (today), and I'm still at peak! 3rd day of peak - and I know I'm definitely peaking because the blue bar that measures your LH hormone is stronger than ever. I attached a photo. 1/1 is the 3rd day of peak for me. Not sure if any of this info helps anyone, but posting just in case. I've also have irregular periods - have been this way since I started my cycles at age 14. Crossing my fingers for some positive news soon Grin

You have to make sure that you are testing in the morning, after your longest sleep; if not, you can get unexpected positive results (i.e. false positive). It says so right in the instructions. Also, the test needs a benchmark from which to start, meaning that the first time you use it, it will be negative because it has nothing to compare to in order to register a rise in anything. If you start testing too late in your cycle, it could be possible that you have already had a rise, and so there is not a big rise between your benchmark sample and your subsequent samples. I was getting false positives but then realized that thing about taking morning samples after longest sleep. Then I started a new test, but it was already day 11, so on day 11 was negative but on day 12 jumped right to the solid happy face. So make sure that you start testing early enough in your cycle, and make sure you do it in the morning after your longest sleep. Hope this makes sense and I hope this helps!

Im having the same problem i wish i could get answers to this but i had a MC 4 months ago and i tested and on the first of Dec and got a peak then decided to test and today the ninth of Dec and showed a high:( According to the opk i already ovulated on the 1st but why did i get a high on the 9th??

babyrose · 18/12/2013 20:24

Once you get a fixed you don't need to test again, you should DTD for those days also.

Princesscrystalx · 18/12/2013 18:45

Hello all!! Really need some help! Had a flashing smiley 3 days ago, then that night had a fixed smiley, tested again 5 mins ago and have another flashing smiley?! Whats going on! Xx

bubble51 · 22/10/2013 19:03

Hello ladies,
I am just giving an update on my progress as it may be useful to others who are on the same quest.
I went on the hunt for clear blue opks in my local chemist with no success. I did however come across Boots Pharmaceuticals ovulation test kit - 20 tests - One month supply for £24.99. I thought to myself BARGIN!! But i was slighty disappointment that I wasn't going to get smiley faces, just pink lines.
Anyway as it turns out I got a very clear Positive on my CD12. These tests are extremely easy to read and at half the price of clear blue opks I would recommend them to others who are TTC.
I would also like to add that I done the tests at 3pm everyday with no fluid intake for 2 hours prior and was able to see an increase in lh levels each day. Now I know that if the result lines are lighter than the test line this is a negative result and that there is always a possibility of getting an lh reading as its always present within the body but I definitely noticed an increase in colour as my ovulation date approached.
I am just elated to see and feel that my body is coming back to its old self after such a short period of time from getting the mirena coil removed.
I am also recording my bbt and cm but as this is my 1st month of trying these methods I am finding these systems hard to understand.
Sorry if you feel that I am rambling but this may be helpful to someone.

JellyBeanDavey · 13/10/2013 23:05

Hey,

Just thought Id shed some knowledge on this subject. I believe to get a flashing smiley, it's measuring you estrogen levels and when you get a fixed smiley it's measuring your LH levels. Hope this helps. I have been using them alongside my cbfm and the first time you use the dual hormone one, you will get a clear circle but then after that it's starts measuring.

bubble51 · 12/10/2013 01:03

Thankyou charleylarie & allhatnicknamesgone,
I am TTC#1, cycle2 UCL23-26 CD3, I know this is quite soon to concerned but I was worried about becoming obsessed with expensive OPKs if they were not reliable. I think from your advice I will give them a try from this cycle, I have also started to record my body temp so here's hoping I will crack the code of ovulation and a BFP soon. Wishing you both all the luck in the world Smile

allchatnicknamesgone · 10/10/2013 17:36

I thoroughly recommend them. Really helps you to focus when you are ovulating and look for other key signs like cm.
First time I used them I got the flashing smiley for 5 days before I had my fixed. This cycle just 2 days of flashing before fixed.

charleylarlie · 10/10/2013 17:09

Hiya, I moved onto a different thread and I will see if I can find the link for you later this evening (am on ipad and not sure how to cut and paste a link from here - I think it's called 'Advice re opk: very early smiley face' (or something like that - it might have slipped down to the second page thou, as we've had a bit of a lull lately). But we're still on the thread, if you'd like to join us? Smile

It's very common to get many days of the flashing smiley though, unfortunately. I did find that they helped me to get more in tune with my body's own ov signals though, so I don't use the CB ones anymore (plus they were pricey). We've just had a couple of months off ttc due to a house move, but we're back onboard now and wishing you lots of baby dust! Smile

Would be great to hear the progress of the ladies who started this post

bubble51 · 09/10/2013 20:05

Thankyou Jaykay987 & babyrose for your reply. I have been using basic opk's for a few months now and received no positive readings. I am 2 days overdue my period today and was feeling hopeful until I got a negative result on 2 PT's. I am now considering using a more expensive/reliable brand of opks as I am worried I am not ovulating at all. I wish yous both luck.this baby Making game just isn't as easy as I thought l

babyrose · 09/10/2013 19:43

Last month I used them last month got one low then onto flashing for a few days but I gave up that month as we were all ill.

This month I used my last stick on cd11 and got a fixed!

jaykay987 · 09/10/2013 19:33

I have been using them for four months. They are ridiculously expensive, but I really like them.
Not everyone gets the "normal" 2 days flashing before the peak endings, but they have been very accurate for me.
I have used in combination with temping, which has eloped me, as I have had one false reading because I had a month with so LH surges (if I hadn't temped, I wouldn't have known as I got a peak reading ).
After the first month, I started to use the IC opks as well, to learn how to read them, with the intention of moving to IC opks only. I haven't been able to get the consistency or reliability out of the IC opks, so I will continue with the Cb OpKs.

HTH

bubble51 · 09/10/2013 19:20

Hi ladies, this post seems to be a few months old now and I am considering using this cb product. I was hoping you's could give me an update on your experience with it. Thank you in advance.

Bambi27 · 12/06/2013 08:13

I have had high for 6 days now! Just used last stick! Lady on phone told me she thought I had missed my peak! So the fact it didn't return to 'low' she didn't seem to even be concerned about so thinking maybe it doesn't return until after a peak?? Sorry I'm guessing really but from what helpline said...

Leabea13 · 12/06/2013 07:39

I started using the dual hormone about 3 days ago, forgot to test yesterday morning so tested around mid afternoon and got high fertility but then read on instructions you could get a false high if you test mid day tested again this morning and it was a high again do the tests continue to be high until I get a peak or will it go back to a low?

Bambi27 · 10/06/2013 07:10

Oh day four of flashing smiley :( really thought today was going to be fixed??! Today is day app on phone says I 'ovulate' but maybe that's a good thing as not been using opks so far and maybe that's why we've not been catching as I ovulate late??!! We shall have to see!!! Shock

Bambi27 · 09/06/2013 22:50

Also sorry to hear about your mc :( no idea about surges etc. I'm rubbish at knowing about anything!

Bambi27 · 09/06/2013 22:48

Ah thanks that gives me hope! Hoping for fixed tomo. Dtd every other during flashing just in case :) I shall keep you posted! When did u get your fixed? Hoping you get your bfp soon!! Xx

Misspositivity · 09/06/2013 20:51

Hey. I started using them this month. Went straight to peak at cd 11 which was strange for me as usually ovulate late. I decided to keep testing and a few days later got a day of high flashy ones and then another peak and all other signs I was ovulating. I was in a cycle after mc so maybe that's why I got two lh surges.
