Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Yes, hopefully you've caught ov in time, BNmum.

Bambi, my cycles have generally been 28/29 days, although last one was 25 days (which could explain the early smiley face on day 8, and the positive cheap opk on day 10).

Am measuring bbtemp as well this month, but so far it's proving to be a bit of a hassle doing it first thing when I wake, esp with the cb digis. I seem to be adding a new thing each month we don't conceive. I dread to think what it'll be next month - saliva microscopes? No, must not succomb... Confused

BNmum · 27/06/2013 11:50

Hi all, i hope it still works charley!

I managed to dtd last night even though I was knackered. Did another digital ov test this morning and it was -ve so i hope we've caught it in time. Will try and dtd a few more times over the next few days too.

Bambi27 · 27/06/2013 09:55

Oh well better start dtd then!! Hopefully it will turn solid soon! How long are your cycles again? X

charleylarlie · 27/06/2013 09:47

CD6 and another flashing smiley (was cd5 yesterday - got that wrong). managed to drop the holder on the bathroom floor though, so hope is still working tomorrow - doh!

I got the 20 pack from Amazon, too Bambi. So much cheaper.

Hope you managed to dtd, BNmum. Will you do another test today?

Bambi27 · 26/06/2013 12:23

Oh gosh bnmum how confusing !! Just dtd as much as you can and hope for the best!! Yes thanks for advice re tests!! Much better value!! Hoping for a fixed smiley this month!! Xx

charleylarlie · 26/06/2013 12:04

Good luck, Bambi. Let's see what happens this month!

That's good, BNmum. Yes, def seize the moment. Smile

BNmum · 26/06/2013 11:41

Good luck ladies! That sounds promising charley, hopefully your fixed will arrive for the weekend.

20 pack is the way to go bambi, especially when they're cheaper than a 10 pack. I'm pleased they're arrived on time too.

I did another hpt this morning and a bfn. Thought I'd use a cb digital OPK just to see as I have been having some cm and i got a smiley. It's not the advanced test just the ordinary digital one. We dtd on sun and I'll have to drag DH to bed at some point today too. Not sure what is going on exactly but I'll class this as a second surge and continue dtd.

Bambi27 · 26/06/2013 08:42

Ah that's good charley seems like you're following same pattern as last month, hoping you get your fixed smiley soon!!

Mine literally just arrived in the post :) so will start testing cd 7 (sat) as advised on website! Got 20 this time bnmum so let's hope I get my fixed smiley!! Xx

charleylarlie · 26/06/2013 07:04

Well, cd 6 and a flashing smiley! Only started testing last month on cd 7 though and got the fixed smiley on cd8, so we shall see if the same thing happens this month. My Babymad bbt thermometer arrived yesterday, so have started measuring that when I wake in the morning too. It was 36.31, so will have to keep an eye out for a spike over the coming week.

BNmum · 25/06/2013 14:30

It will be interesting to see if they throw out similar readings to last month. Good luck!

Bambi27 · 25/06/2013 09:54

Oh good luck ladies!! I've got to start testing sat, hoping that the sticks arrive before then! Bought 20 pack this time just in case!!! Xx

charleylarlie · 25/06/2013 09:08

Yes, maybe get it checked out if still bfn tomorrow, but don't rule pg out just yet.

I am now on cd5 of 4th month ttc. Started again with the cbd opks this morning - obvs a 'low fertile' sign being the first day of testing. Will start again with the cheap opks too and see what happens. Planning on dtd every other day from now on anyway.

Am also hoping that my bbt thermometer will arrive today. Smile

BNmum · 25/06/2013 08:28

Tbh charley I've got no idea, I don't remember having any of this with #1. Still no af but ongoing pain/tenderness and a bfn on Sunday. Starting to wonder if I have a water infection?
I'm going to try and hold out doing another test until tomorrow morning.

charleylarlie · 25/06/2013 06:40

Good idea to dtd just in case, Bnmum. Just a thought though - could the pains be implantation? Don't want to get your hopes up, but - you never know! Wink

BNmum · 24/06/2013 09:47

Yeah, I think I'll do that strawberry. I've been having some really bad pains on my side like stitch/ov pains for a couple of days and I had some clear cm yesterday so we dtd just incase I didn't ov earlier in my cycle. I took a cb digital ov test and it was -ve, i probably should have done one again this morning but I forgot.

Just not sure what the hell is going on.

Bambi27 · 24/06/2013 08:30

Ah thanks! Yes let's hope so :) xx

StrawberryMojito · 23/06/2013 19:12

Ah, that's a shame Bambi, lets hope we all have better luck next month. BN...maybe test again in a few days?

Thanks Charley, maybe a 24 day cycle isn't so bad, I just hope it doesn't get any shorter.

I'm sorry to hear that too bambi Sad

Today is cd38 and I think his would be 12-14dpo? I have been suffering from mild cramps for over a week now which I put down to af. If she is going to appear I'd rather it was sooner rather than later so I can get on with the next cycle!

Bambi27 · 23/06/2013 10:32

Fingers crossed xx

charleylarlie · 23/06/2013 10:14

Really sorry to here that, Bambi. Sad

Maybe next month will be our lucky month? Smile

Hang on in there, BNmum. It's not quite over yet.

Bambi27 · 23/06/2013 09:18

Ah that sucks bnmum mum, when is af due? I'm out this month now af has arrived :( on to next cycle I suppose!!! X

BNmum · 23/06/2013 08:07

Well today was test day and ....... BFN! So the waiting continues.....

BNmum · 22/06/2013 12:05

Oh no! Sorry to hear that charley Sad

I was referring to it being early days for the test not to show anything up bambi. I thought your af wasn't due for a couple of days yet so the chances of it showing up before your due date are pretty slim. It can happen but it doesn't mean that you're not pregnant just because it doesn't indicate a BFP early so dont rule this month out yet, there's only af that can do that for you! Smile I can imagine its really difficult to wait a couple of extra days when you've already been waiting 8months though. Wishing you loads of luck!!

Right I'm off out to the shops......

charleylarlie · 22/06/2013 12:00

Just wanted to say, Strawberry that 24 days is within the normal range, so I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

I started charting my cycle on ovufriend last month (it's free), and I think it's helping me get more in touch with my body. You can also enter when you've tested opks and temps and when you've dtd and any symptoms you may get. It's just encouraging me to get a better picture of my own cycle and thought I'd mention it in case any of you guys might not have heard of it and think it useful.

I'm a bit disappointed at the mo, due to AF, but at least I have an excuse to eat chocolate (as if I needed one)! Grin

charleylarlie · 22/06/2013 08:50

Well, that's me out for this month too. AF arrived in full swing in the night. Four days early. Sad

At least I know that the opks might have been accurate, detecting a peak on days 8-11 of a 25 day cycle. I'm going to carry on using the cb ones until they run out and then the cheap ones. I'm also going to buy a bbt thermometer this month, to be absolutely certain.

Oh, 2 year olds are so exhausting, aren't they? My ds is so busy and manic and LOUD at the mo.

So, it's all down to you now this month, Bnmum Really hope it's a bfp for you. I haven't lost faith that you might be lucky too, Bambi, but I'm def out with Strawberry now - here's to next month!
