Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

businessadmin · 15/07/2013 19:57

Ok thanks charleylarlie Smile

charleylarlie · 15/07/2013 18:58

Oh BNmum, that's fantastic news! I wonder whether it happened when you last thought you were ov-ing, or if you were already pg by then and it didn't show up on the test. Great news anyway! Smile

Can't remember the exact statistics on implantation bleeding, Business, but I think it hapens in around 25-30% of pgs.

BNmum · 15/07/2013 18:41

Yeah, not everyone has implantation bleeding business. I did have some bleeding with my DS but that was more like 7-9 weeks.

businessadmin · 15/07/2013 18:08

Ur welcome Bnmum x

Can you still be pregnant without implantation bleed Smile

BNmum · 15/07/2013 17:43

Thanks for all the congratulations guys! I still can't believe it to be honest, I've had to go and look at the test repeatedly this afternoon.

I'm cd60 today and I think it's about 20 days since my last fixed smiley (I'll have to double check this though). No implantation bleeding and no symptoms other than my new 'belly'

Bambi27 · 15/07/2013 16:23

StrawberryMojito · 15/07/2013 16:05

Congrats BNmum x So is it about 16 days from ur fixed smileys [smiley] x

Did u ave a implantation bleed ? x

blueamber · 15/07/2013 14:31

Bnmum, congrats! That's great news.

I wouldn't be happy if my OH said something like that though, at least not for the first few months! Smile

BNmum · 15/07/2013 14:21

I'm feeling a little Shock at the minute as just tested and I'm only up the frigging duff Smile.

I got a clearblue test with indicator and it's saying 3+ weeks, I would have thought 2-3 at most so now I'm thinking how pregnant am I?

Hubby was suprised I was so shocked and I was suprised he expected it. I asked him how he was so sure and he said it was because I've now got a belly, but didn't want to say anything just in case. Bloody great, thanks darling for not telling me I was turning into a fatty! (Maybe this is my first symptom, moody cow/over sensitive). Had to have a brew to calm down so my no caffeine rule now out the window too!

Get on the conception tablets business!

blueamber · 15/07/2013 13:32

Business, it's normal to have cycles that vary by a few days, so yours is fine! You asked about conception tablets, I think they are a good idea anyway. Gives you some vitamins that will help. Or at least it's important to take folic acid and vitamin d.

Bnmum sounds like you have a great diet. I cut out caffeine as well, well almost, I'm onto decaf tea and stopped drinking coffee. I didn't know how much caffeine was in black tea, how naive! Will not cut back on chocolate though!
Hope your testing went ok.

businessadmin · 15/07/2013 12:23

Wonder how BNmum gettin on with her testing Smile x

Bambi27 · 15/07/2013 10:03

Today is cd 23 for me due af on Saturday, won't be testing this month as almost sure were out anyway so no point! Has been nice to have a month without the worry of the tww! Hadn't even thought about what cd it was until someone asked!!

Bnmum can't wait to hear results of your test!

Sorry af reared its ugly head! I also know nothing about luteal phases except 10 days is fine! Xx

businessadmin · 14/07/2013 23:29

Ok BNmum thanks x Smile

BNmum · 14/07/2013 22:11

I took pregnacare conception tablets which include folic acid when I conceived my DS so i'm taking them again this time. I'll let you know tomorrow business when I test Grin

businessadmin · 14/07/2013 21:46

Do conception tablets help ? x

BNmum · 14/07/2013 21:21

I looked into luteal phases briefly when I was having a few mid cycle bleeds. I rememember reading that your diet can affect things and if you have a short luteal phase try eating foods high in B vits (leafy green veg, marmite, shreddies and other cereals), avoid caffeine, increase intake of vit c and eat eggs.

I've cut out caffeine and tried to increase my vit c on top of my conception tablets and I've noticed the mid cycle spotting has stopped so may be worth trying.

I think there's also more extreme herbal supplements such as Angus castus but there's a lot of mixed reviews out there and probably worth taking some professional advice before dabbling in it.

businessadmin · 14/07/2013 20:26

Thanks charley x

Im on Cd 20, my cycles are irregular, one minute its 31 then 28, then last months was 30.

I BNmum using CB Pregnancy tests x

StrawberryMojito · 14/07/2013 19:52

Thanks guys. I think I will buy more CB sticks for this month and just try and do it regularly aswell. I have a commitment that means I'm away from home one night late next week so we'll just have to do our best.

From what I understand, luteal phases (post ovulation) that are under 10 days are problematic as not enough progesterone is around to maintain a pregnancy even if sperm meets egg. I think mine was 10 days this month so borderline.

Good luck tomorrow BN!

charleylarlie · 14/07/2013 19:26

Really sorry to hear that, Strawberry. I haven't done much reading about luteal phases, so not sure how you go about trying to lengthen it. If it's only the last two cycles though, it may just be bad luck and they may go back to normal? Hope next month is better and you get more chances to dtd.

DS seems to be taking to the new sleeping arrangements thankfully, BNMum, though I suppose it's only day 3 yet. Am amazed that he only spent 20 mins opening cupboards before getting into bed and going to sleep!

I reckon AF will come early for me too. Don't know why, just a feeling. On cd 23 now, according to Ovufriend website so not long to wait. Last month's cycle was 25 days, though usually 29. Good luck testing tomorrow BNMum. Really hope you get a bfp.

BNmum · 14/07/2013 19:07

That's pants, I'm really sorry to hear that strawberry.

How short does that make your luteal phase?

What's the plan for next cycle? Are you still going to use opks? SMEP? Just take it easy?

StrawberryMojito · 14/07/2013 18:36

I'm not in the 2ww unfortunately. My period started today, looks like my luteal phase is still a bit short. Fed up.

Genuinely good wishes for those testing this week though x.

Sounds like you've had a rough time of it charley, I forgot to mention that I put up a bed guard too. We still use this at home although he slept on bottom bunk fine on holiday. He is a wriggler though and it saves us all being woken up in the middle of the night.

Ooh! Fingers crossed for thurs too.

What pregnancy tests does everyone use?

Is everyone in the 2ww now? I've only been away a few days and already lost track of everyone's cycles!

charleylarlie · 14/07/2013 07:00

Glad you had a nice holiday, BNmum. Fingers crossed for monday. I think I can test next week too. - will leave it until Thurs to be on safe side as don't know exactly when ov.

Business - hope your wait isn't too long to find out if IUI worked. It's so hard, but like BNmum says, you've no way of knowing exactly. Fingers crossed for you though.

Strawberry, great that AF hasn't arrived, one way or another. If I think of any tips re the cot bars, I'll let you know. So far we've had to take all his books and clothes put of the room, as he went wild with the freedom! Last night a bit better, asleep at 8.15 after a mammoth empty drawer and cupboard opening sesh, fell out of bed at 3 and was up at 6.30, but seems to be lying on bed with a cuddly now! Thanks for the Groclock tip, BNmum.

No proper symptoms yet for me. I think the tingling boobs was all in my head as nothing yesterday.
