Oh no, big hugs for sid and tally and your respective furry little critters. Can't bear hearing about poorly animals, it's just awful Sad. Hoping the vets perform miracles in both cases.

Bunny there must be a soap dish... Wink

Managed to do about three hours constructive dissertation work before feeling the need to open the wine. Now waiting for my MIL and SIL to get back from shopping in York for fajita dinner...they said they'd be back at half six, still not here and I'm getting a bit pissed off and really hungryhaving made guacamole and salsa and everything from scratch, now my guacamole is brown and my salad is wilting!

BlindKitty · 06/06/2013 20:06

Oh god syd I hope he's ok. My cat is my world so would be just the same if it were her x

Earlier asked my neighbour if she fancied a quick glass of wine (I don't know her well btw!) and we got a bit drunk oops! Didn't think she was going to bring a load of hers!

Bunnygirlie · 06/06/2013 17:22

Oh sid that's horrid, hugs x

I'm now in Warwickshire with DH for this work thing, bought my opks but guess who forgot their pot! Doh

Tallyra · 06/06/2013 15:55

oh sid, that is horrendous, your poor pooch!! sending you huge hugs, I would be beside myself!
poorly ferret is still poorly but we can't afford xrays. we are at the point now where without insurance we might not be able to treat him an more if this batch of drugs doesn't work. we can't put him through a slow and painful wasting away so might have to consider the other option. I can't bear to think about that, he's only 4! ferret insurance is ridiculous and with 3 it's impossible.Sad

barkingtreefrog · 06/06/2013 15:26

Oh my goodness sid sending a massive hug and Thanks . I would be absolutely beside myself (I'm welling up just reading what you're going through). I really hope you get him home for lots of cuddles tomorrow and the vets start sounding a little less clueless Sad .

DP is still waiting at the hospital, got there at 11.45 but not been in for surgery yet. I've been sent home until I get the call to pick him up.

OP posts:
SidneyBristow · 06/06/2013 12:47

they're hoping to release him tomorrow...surgery was to remove a gland with a nodule on it, which was meant to be a piece of cake. They called me in the middle of the op to say the nodule was much more entrenched in surrounding tissue (near major vein), to find out how I wanted to proceed, since 'any complication would be extremely serious'. Despite this the vet wouldn't cite odds or say anything further than that, so I took it to mean the surgeon felt it was probably too risky (hence the call), so I said to please not take any unnecessary risks that could be fatal. They took a sample of the nodule, which turned out 'inconclusive' (they didn't take enough tissue to be testable, apparently) so nobody knows if it's benign or malignant, or how it may be contributing to the odd test results that brought us to the specialty vets in the first place. And yesterday he developed pancreatitis, from having his organs handled during surgery. So essentially he's had a hellish week, and for no forward movement in his treatment. I'm sick over it. He's better today & they hope to release him tomorrow but the path forward isn't clear, and there seems to be no way to find out what's going on without putting him through another very risky surgery, which I'm not even sure they'd agree to do. Sad He's only 6.

Sorry to have such a one-track mind; this is all I can think about at the moment, I'm still just so confused by how different it's turned out from what I was led to expect.

MrsB00Mbastic · 06/06/2013 11:10

Kitty yowch!!

Sid sorry the woofer is still poorly Sad. Do they know when he might be coming home? x

Right. Must...do...dissertation...

SidneyBristow · 06/06/2013 09:18

Hope your DH's surgery goes well, barking, and that you gave him a good sendoff ;)

Scone v jealous over here of your lovely sounding summer off!

Just trying to catch up w everyone else's news; lousy week over here, as Bristowpooch is still in the hospital Sad, and I am going quietly insane from worry.

BlindKitty · 06/06/2013 09:12

When mate got with him she couldn't understand why he didn't want to have sex with her (he said it was because he loved her so much). After about 3 months (yes 3 months) they want on hol and dtd....only for his frenulum to snap!!' It had clearly happened before and he was obviously worried about scaring her! So he had to get it fixed on hol but the. He didn't wait for it to heal and it snapped again!

Don't worry though barking, it's a completely different op. tbh he prob should have just had a circumcision in the first place!

Bunnygirlie · 06/06/2013 08:30

OUCH!

BlindKitty · 06/06/2013 07:28

barking word of warning. My friend's dh had a frenulum op and he decided to use it early...lets just say he wished he'd hadn't....

MrsB00Mbastic · 06/06/2013 07:17

*DP, not DH - sorry, fingers running away with me!

MrsB00Mbastic · 06/06/2013 05:55

Sending lots of good wishes and healing vibes to your DH barking! Gosh that's come around quickly. Hope you get your morning bonk! Xxx

barkingtreefrog · 05/06/2013 22:58

Ta bunny, he's on his phone right now googling 'how to make cuts/wounds heal quicker' !! He's determined it's not going to be 6 weeks before he can 'use' it again!!!

OP posts:
Bunnygirlie · 05/06/2013 22:53

barking wishing Mr Barking all the best for the op!

barkingtreefrog · 05/06/2013 22:51

I'm right there with you boom, my washing has been on the line for 3 days now!!

OP posts:
barkingtreefrog · 05/06/2013 22:48

Don't apologise at all charming!! I ummed and arhed about speaking to slt for ages, but decided against it given the ttc and not wanting to make big changes that would then need to all change again if I went on maternity, and thinking about the ideal situation to then go back to. Irony is, status quo has been blown out of the water with the changes that have just been sprung on me, but I had no way of knowing that. When the deputy told me what was happening I told her straight away I was gutted that I didn't know and she said that in two terms everything could change again and now she knew I wanted more hours it could ve taken into consideration. Trouble is, in an ideal world I'll be upduffed by next April and won't be looking for more hours by then!!!! No one at school knows I'm trying though (except, ironically, the teacher who has just nabbed the extra day I wanted!!)

But it's all good as I'll get my BFP this month and still being part time will give me a chance to have a less stressful pg Grin . That's why I missed out on the job, I knew there was a reason..... Grin

And in my ttc news I finally got + on the opk, cd20! Smile So will O on cd22, fitting my usual pattern to a tee! DP has op tomorrow, so will try and dtd again tomorrow morning. That will be 5 days in a row, then Ov the following day and temp rise the next. Ideally we'd dtd for another two days but as long as he can manage it tomorrow morning and isn't too stressed about the op to finish the job I'll keep skipping gaily down my yellow brick road as there should hopefully be a few swimmers still sticking around for the egg show. Grin

Lol boom you know what I mean!

MrsB00Mbastic · 05/06/2013 22:13

Ok, a salad and curry. But it was homemade curry...

Kitty haha sounds like my kind of trick! You've just reminded me that I've left the washing on the line for the second day in a row. I'm so undomesticated I'm practically feral!

Hiya charming - don't apologise, I like the shroud of mystery! I'm imagining a job as Jane Bond perhaps. Or Batgirl..?

BlindKitty · 05/06/2013 22:05

boom mine did all my weeding at the front whilst I was away but didn't know where the garden bags were. On sun she was like 'you have remembered to move the weeds haven't you?' Erm yeh course not really

CharmingCats · 05/06/2013 21:48

Hello all,

First of all, apologies for being mysterious about the job offer - am paranoid about being outed.
scone enjoying your summer sounds like a good plan. I think we will be doing the same.
barking sorry you missed out on the job and that I rubbed it in with news of mine. Could you have a chat with the smt now and explain that although you realise you've missed out this time, that is the kind of thing you're looking for and would like to be considered for in the future? A you know, staffing in schools changes all the time, there could be scope within next year.... I have to admit that I've been having chats with the deputy about this kind of thing for a term or more. Perhaps sow the seed now and they might be able to come up with something. How about some intervention teaching once you've finished your SENCo course? Put theory into practice?
boom your mil sounds delightful. Ignore as much as you can.... You're bound to wake up a size 10, at most tomorrow.....

MrsB00Mbastic · 05/06/2013 21:19

Sorry bunny, crossed with you! Cackling away here at the use of 'get a good rhythm up' in relation to dtd...

MrsB00Mbastic · 05/06/2013 21:17

Aquarius I'm sure it's PCOS, I just can't get a diagnosis from the time-wasting doctors for love nor money despite raised testosterone, previous miscarriage, two scans showing polycystic ovaries and cycles over 60 days (all of which suggest PCOS). On the bright side, I feel confident that clomid and metformin will sort me out...on the down side, the doctors won't give me any!

And randomly, one of my friends sent me a link to the list...which is why I love her, she doesn't pussyfoot about with fake sympathy, she just sends me jokes Grin

kitty aww she sounds like a good'un! My MIL actually isn't all that bad, I struggle to find things to talk about with her but she doesn't mean to be nasty, she just points out all the things I wish she wouldn't notice!

Just been to the gym and feeling godly. Going to eat salad for dinner now, should wake up a size 10..

Bunnygirlie · 05/06/2013 21:11

Evening y'all!

boom fab list! I haven't told many people in RL but if they said anything in that advice column I would scream! P.s. your MIL sounds ace Wink

scone wishing you luck and a lovely summer Hun! Don't be a stranger!

Hmmm still no +opk, CD15 here, what is going on?!? Managed to DTD days 11,13,15 so hoping we haven't actually managed to get a good rhythm up for no blooming reason!

BlindKitty · 05/06/2013 21:00

scone vodka and mango summers sound fab! Think I've almost decided the same since finding out that iui prob won't start until sept now. However, afraid I haven't taken the plunge in throwing the opks and thermometer out so maybe I'm all talk!
