solars you will find SP so much quicker, it flies by! Much less stressful and intense...

Solars · 18/05/2013 17:36

Maybe I had a panic attack just before starting our second round, it's the anticipation of it all and the hopes you have riding on it, all normal, but once you get going you will be fine, lovely. Only 10 days 'till downregging right?

Scarlett I was on LP last time so this is all new to me, but glad it's not such a long process this time. As they say you really don't know unless you test, I have high hopes for you.

Geek I would that EPF test it would save so many days of uncertainty. Hope you're doing ok.

I am exhausted, was in again this morning for a blood and scan and will be in again tomorrow for another blood test. Still got half of my milk portion to go yet for today not looking forward to that I have also been snoozing on the sofa this afternoon.

Good Smile

Well my face is all dry & blotchy today brookers which is fairly normal a week before AF so not holding out much hope...

Have a boring weekend of housework ahead just had a lovely nap on the sofa with the pugdog though hope you're all out having more fun than me!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/05/2013 09:49

Grin thanks Scarlett much needed Wink

ScarlettInSpace · 18/05/2013 09:44

Or in fact Brew

ScarlettInSpace · 18/05/2013 09:44

maybe I have those kind if mini melt downs all the time, have a Biscuit with your [tea] Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/05/2013 09:21

Geek heats does denature protein, but it is still a protein IYSWIM? Cooked chicken is still a great source of protein. Another good one I have been told is edamame beans. Ooh, and avocado. I was also told full fat yoghurt.

Scarlett I'm loving your plan. Oh wont get to plan f. Well, maybe when they're 18 and have left home Wink. The injecting doesn fuss me at all bi was always injecting trough my PhD. It's just become very real. Almost ha a pain attack lat night. I think it's the fact that it really is starting now and that there will be a definitive answer at the end of it. At the moment, I know I'm deffo going to get AF every month so there has been no 'am I aren't I' going on, and I've had that little bubble of hope that IVF will fix it. My goodness me I'm a loon. I think I need to make a cuppa Grin

ControlGeek · 17/05/2013 19:16

scarlett wow that's a plan and a half! But Plan F will never be needed. You are a Brooker, and a Brooker always gets her Baby Grin

I was curious about the milk thing because I know from my A levels that heat denatures protein and I didn't know if that took away the benefit of having the protein. Perhaps maybe could advise?

My take on the testing is I would absolutely kill for someone to invent a home test for EPF (Early Pregnancy Factor). I would actually prefer to know 4 days after ov whether fertilisation had taken place so that I knew whether there was any point getting my hopes up towards the end of the 12 days. It would also give me peace of mind to know that sperm was meeting egg.

ScarlettInSpace · 17/05/2013 17:53

Thanks everyone x
I think the test thing is that age old dilemma of wanting to know but not wanting the bubble of hope to be burst?

cups I love your optimism Grin how are you doing?

Good luck with all the jabbing brookers! Trust me it becomes so normal it will worry you lol. I?m brooking so hard that I took all the nasty DR side effects for the team last year so you will all sail through x

geek Plan B is go again. We get 3 funded go?s and the clinic have no objection to going back to back. Plan C kicks in after those 3 go?s and is a shot at mild IVF [I?m secretly stockpiling excess drugs from every treatment so that will cost me as little as possible]. If all that fails then Plan F kicks in, which is basically start smoking again, drink to excess regularly and go on holiday 3 times a year until I die Grin

cups well done for making that call, even if it doesn?t help this month at least you know you?ve got your points across. Do you think that fact you kicked off before and got put through a bit early is why they are being twunty about actually getting you started?

I just checked the stash of sticks, 5 x IC, 2 x Clearblue [not the digi?s], 1 x used FRER still in the box Blush I must?ve forgotten to replace it? Well that helps actually, the FRER has been burning a hole in my head. Although knowing theres 5 x 10miu sticks up there does make think there?s one for every day next week Hmm

Re the milk debate, I got my Acu to look into this as I HATE milk, apparently it needs to be full fat to get all the goodness, but it just needs to be full fat dairy. So FF Yoghurt, Ice Cream etc all counts, and you can make it into shakes, hot chocolates, I made [decaf] lattes with it too?

solars last time did you do SP or LP?

beedle & maybe it is scary but honestly you will be fine, and wonder a little what all the fuss is about ? I used to make a big palarva every evening, laying it all out on the table, being every so precise etc, now I just nip upstairs, mix & fill the syringe standing up, jab, and then back downstairs in under 5 minutes, I'm such a junkie Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/05/2013 15:03

Solars, I will have one of that, you are young too Smile

Beedle, yes I'm stabbing all the way. I'm not scared of the injections, I'm scared of how I will feel if it doesn't work not that I over think things

BeedlesPineNeedles · 17/05/2013 14:56

Are you stabbing to DR as well maybe ? I feel I've had a rather easy start to IVF with the nasal spray for downregging (and obviously the complete lack of side-effects which I'm very thankful for). I am getting a bit scared at the idea of sticking a needle into myself next week though, so I totally understand.

Solars · 17/05/2013 14:55

Geek not sure about uht, you'd have to read the label for protein content, fat doesn't matter either as still has same protein content I think. We were told not too hot as the protein strands coagulate esp if boiling, I think that's what she said. I'm not heating mine but drinking when it gets to room temp.

You'll be fine Maybe I think you youngsters have a much better chance than I do.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/05/2013 14:21

I don't think it matters if you have it hot or cold Geek or what fat it is, as I think the protein levels are similar no matter what. As far as the UHT goes, I wouldn't know. Thou I would guess it would always be better to drink fresh milk.

Cups not long at all. I'm bricking it

ControlGeek · 17/05/2013 13:58

That's great news solars, glad to hear you are resting up. I can't believe you had to be there for 6.30. That would have meant me getting up at... well, almost the time I went to bed!

More questions about milk for those of you who have already been advised about it - does it matter if you have it hot or cold, in other words do my two or three daily decaf starbuckets of latte count? Also, does it matter what % fat it is, or whether it is UHT or fresh?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 17/05/2013 12:53

Solars glad to hear it all went well. You've had a busy few days. Hope you are taking it easy now.

Maybe glad you've got it all sorted. Not long now eeek Smile

NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/05/2013 12:35

Glad all went well Solars. Hope you're being waited on! I did try the clinic, they are posting it today!!

Beedle first jab is 28th, the same day we fly to Italy! All go!

Solars · 17/05/2013 12:30

Cups I'm very proud of you and I'm brooking this will guarantee you are good to go with everything next month. I wonder what criteria they work on??

Maybe perhaps try the clinic first seeing as they prescribed them? It is amazing how much stuff you will be injecting yourself with over the next month or so!

Geek hehe, ginger! I was up at 5am to get in for 6.30am, luckily I was told not to shower this morning so it would have been earlier! Procedure was done at 8am and I was home before 11am. Just resting up now. The milk is supposed to help with increasing your protein content, I would go for it whether or not you clinic advises it. I'm not a milk fan either and yesterday I coud only manage 1/2 litre as it was so filling and I was only told about it late morning anyway. I'm going to try smoothies in the morning, hopefully that will make it go down easier.

I haven't looked at your link yet Sweetie but think its the same article I read in the metro yesterday Shock congrats at becoming MWEPP too!

Great news about DH's job Keep you glad to be coming back now? We always reminisce about our year out but you guys will have even fonder memories as it is where little kip was concieived x

Scarlett Wednesday sounds like a good bet to test. Are you all stashed out with tests?

Hope you're doing ok Face

I've been very lucky with MrB phoning up the clinic for me (twice!) -though if I was completely fluent in the language I am sure he wouldn't have done it. He phoned to chase our very first appointment last year and phoned to chase up our IVF referral, which made them realise they had forgotten to put us on the list. I'm very glad he rang them.

maybe when are you starting? have you got a little holiday planned too?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/05/2013 12:10

Oh Cups well done you. Do you feel better for it? MrM is also rubbish at sorting things out. How lucky they are to have us Wink

So, my drugs have just arrived. I feel sick looking at them. I do have a snazzy purple bag to put them in though Grin. Now I have to try and get a medical certificate so I can fly with the drugs. Not sure whether to ask clinic or GP though.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 17/05/2013 12:05

Oh and MrCups is doing nothing of course. Typical bloke, although he offering lots of hugs and moral support. There's no way he would be on the phone sorting things out though!

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 17/05/2013 12:03

Geek Grin at Gingers!

Beedle that is it exactly, if my AF had been a few days earlier then I might have got in. I've just been on fertility friends, some poor girl has just requested for the 3rd time only to be told that she needs to get her MMR. When she saw the consultant she was told she didn't need to have it and it wouldn't delay treatment. As I'm sure most of you know you have to wait a certain number of weeks after before ttc. I really feel for her.

ControlGeek · 17/05/2013 11:52

oops beedle Blush guess I was caught 'red-handed' on that one Grin I can't even blame it on the phone as I'm sneakily mning on my work pc this morning!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 17/05/2013 11:42

geek what are your gingers? Are they like imps fingers but red? :o

cartoontrickster · 17/05/2013 11:42

yay cups I'm so glad ur standing ur ground, show them that they shouldnt mess with you.
I guess we all have to be pro active and really push to get what we want. look out for number one.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 17/05/2013 11:41

Well done cups There is nothing wrong with complaining (unless you start shouting and screaming and threatening people). Hopefully this will ensure you get accepted next month. Its not fair that people who were referred after you have been accepted this month, but maybe its just due to the weird (to me) way your clinic organise stuff. If their AF started just before yours maybe they were able to ring up and get the last available teach appointment.

Our clinic seeemd to work on the idea of referral, 3 month wait, appointment to meet doc and agree provisional start dates dependant on expected date of next AF and when they had time available for EC. I assume they book a certain number of people in for EC each week (and then hope that they're not all ready on teh same day :o )
