Hi over great news about your levels.

If you really want a scan I'd lurk around the hospitals EPAU and bypass the gp. If there is someone available to scan you then they're usually pretty good. If/when we conceive again ill be saying no to an early scan. After some spotting at 8 weeks had reassurance scan, all ok and v low risk of MC....12 hours later game over and then double whammy of shit as had been so positive. Have a little faith xx

OneLittleToddleTerror · 11/06/2013 15:24

I have been waking up in the middle of the night for the last two days. This morning it was 3am and it must have taken me ages to fall asleep again. Is this an early pregnancy symptom? I'm only 9dpo. I think I'm going crazy with this symptom spotting Hmm

nearlyreadytopop · 11/06/2013 15:02

I noticed a change in cm to egg white type. Thanks to you all I realised what it meantGrin

alyant79 · 11/06/2013 14:34

breaking news nearly!! that's fabulous. Grin
If it's been 14 weeks since your ERPC I don't think they can expect you to have waited. In fact I specifically asked at the EPU how long I should wait in AF didn't turn up, since that happened to my sis after her mc (she eventually got pg after 7 months with no AF). They said to wait 4 weeks and then go for it, regardless of AF. So tell your GP to go jump if they grumble.

I'm so bad at remembering everyone's stories - why did you think that you ovulated 2 weeks ago? Was it spotted on a scan?

nearlyreadytopop · 11/06/2013 14:27

so it looks like I DID ovulate 2 weeks ago as ive just got a positive testShock am prepared for fish but I just could not wait.
I am in shock.
am I going to be in trouble with gp as I didn't wait for one cycle? its 20 weeks today since I lost my wee one at 17 weeks. ands its 14 weeks since erpc and no af.

Sitting here feeling very scared.

GuffSmuggler · 11/06/2013 13:21

Awww lovely saggy thanks for sharing Grin

alyant79 · 11/06/2013 13:01

next time around, not this time around.
i'm not pg yet - or am I??? was that a freudian slip?? does my body know something i don't????

alyant79 · 11/06/2013 13:00

guff that's exactly why i want (note the positivity?) an early scan this time around - since I know my body is perfectly capable of growing just an empty sac for 12+ weeks I don't want to give it the chance. Of course I would be aware that just seeing a heartbeat doesn't mean that everything will be OK, but it's a step in the right direction.

I see over, that makes sense. I didn't think that you were crazy, honest Wink

saggy that little foal is SO CUTE. I want one.

OveranxiousUnderated · 11/06/2013 12:20

Saggy - adorable! Grin

alyant - no im not a crazy poas lady haha...the only reason I did a pg test was because I was using the clearblue fertility monitor and opks and on day 7 they both brought up two darker than dark lines, which never happens for me untill day 14 earliest. If I had never done any opks/pg tests I wouldn't even know right now. I'd be on cd22 in the tww. Which is mad.

I think you are all right, early scan or no early scan we are all going to worry throughout the pregnancy so dealing with that is important. I like the idea of doing relaxation stuff.

Katatonic I'm like you - I worry I won't get the chance to worry about being PG Confused What a mad place TTC after MC puts your brain!!!

Re early scans, I don't know what I'd do next pregnancy - I had a perfect 8 week scan then MMC at 12 week scan - baby hadn't grown following my early scan (which had let us to tell everyone we were expecting) however my hospital has already said that when I get pregnant again I will be offered scans every fortnight between 6 and 12 weeks so will have to decide when the time comes what I want to do.

Guff me and DH are now on day 4 in a row, trying to keep it up as long as possible (pun not intended Grin ) - keep going!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 11/06/2013 10:08

guff I know what you mean by postcode lottery wrt early scan. Here you can't go to the EPU without a referal. I too had an empty sac at 12 weeks scan and it was very very hard. Especially since I have thought for 2 months it's all doing fine in there. That's why I would also do an early scan, but only if it is free. I just can't afford £99.

But I have also heard stories about seeing a heartbeat in an early scan only to find a mmc at 12 weeks.

There really is no guarantee. And it is still high risk until 14 weeks.

GuffSmuggler · 11/06/2013 09:59

Morning all,

overanxious I'm so pleased for you, keep that positivity as it's all looking good for you. Regards an early scan, I think it's a very personal decision based on your MC experience.

I had a blighted ovum and was so shocked to find out at the 12 week scan there was just a big empty sac, so I would push for an early scan just to know an actual baby was there, but I'd still be very aware things could still go wrong. I think 8 weeks is quite a bit marker as others have said so would probably wait until then.

What makes me angry about this discussion is the postcode lottery of early scans, my GP said she would definitely refer me for an early scan next time but I know others who've had 2 or more miscarriages and still refused an early scan, it should at least be consistent for everyone Angry So if you want it I would see another GP and fight for it on the NHS, keep going on about the early bleed and how anxious it has made you.

sal I hope you are feeling better. I think perhaps you should give up the DTD and try and focus on getting well for your big day or is that against the TTC rules!?

I think DH and I are going to really struggle to manage it again tonight but I want to try as I got my peak smily yesterday and worried I won't have OV until today. Poor DH looks a bit shell shocked from all the demands on him at the moment!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 11/06/2013 09:07

over I don't think I'll pay £99 for a scan either. I agree with vix that the money is better spent treating yourself. To me it seems a large sum of money to spend, and it seems it's the same case for you. But if you can get it on the NHS, it's a different thing. If the EPU has talked about the possibility of a early scan, then definitely give them a ring and ask. There's nothing to lose isn't it?

alyant79 · 11/06/2013 09:06

re what sal said it's a good point. I looked up stats on early detection of heartbeats and subsequent miscarriage and it turns out that the difference between seeing a heart beat at 7 weeks, 8 weeks and 9 weeks is HUGE. If you go for an early scan and can hold out til 8 weeks and there is a strong heartbeat you've got a very good chance of everything turning out OK.

alyant79 · 11/06/2013 09:02

over that's wonderful news. Very reassuring. If I were you though, I'd be pushing for an early scan. My EPU also said that they'd see me for a early scan next time... You need to do what you feel is right for you, so if you think an early scan would help then you should try and get one. I'd try very hard to get it for free though before forking out the £99. Especially given that you had a regular seeming period!

I'm curious why you did a pg test immediately after you period finished... what was the hint that you might be pg??

missmakes my tummy was really bloated from about 6 weeks in too, and it didn't go away until quite a while after the mc (due to large retained products). I think it's a second pregnancy symptom - already stretched out uterus knows exactly what to do. At 6 weeks I looked about 4 months pregnant by my first pregnancy sizing, and I was in maternity jeans by 8/9 weeks when the first time round i didn't get them until about 5 months.

Good work on all the weight loss ladies.

Sal1977 · 11/06/2013 09:01

I had an early scan at 7 weeks after some spotting last time and we got to see the baby with its little heart going and everything. Turns out it all went to shit within a week of the scan, so next time I think I'll just hold out til the 12 weeks if I can as that false hope was awful!

BakingBunty · 11/06/2013 07:32

overanxious, if I were you, I'd be pushing for an early scan with all my might. I know that it sadly can't necessarily prevent things from going wrong, but the reassurance that it can give shouldn't be under estimated. I am just so much calmer since having an early one last week - am sleeping better and feeling less anxious (though the worry hasn't entirely gone away!)

I'd second the great suggestion to see a different GP, or try direct to EPU.

Good luck!

vix2812 · 11/06/2013 01:56

over I think your husband has a good head on him about this. I know it may seem like he doesn't fully understand the anxiety not-knowing brings, but he his going through it with you too, i bet he's concerned about it going wrong too.
Whatever happens, I hope you can keep your mind at ease and enjoy finding out if your pregnant the natural way - through tiredness and nausea! :P

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/06/2013 23:14

Over I am so so pleased for you. Smile
My EPAU said they would see me early next time. but ~I am in two minds as to if I would go or not.

Thanks for all of your replies, you are all so lovely. So great having people to talk to. Thanks

DH thinks that we should just wait and whatever is meant to be will be. I like his thinking, yet I also need confirmation as I just cannot believe/accept that I am pregnant.

I did think about contacting the EPU directly as the nurse there said to me about an early scan if I was to get pg again after the MC. I might give it a few more days to mull it over and see how I feel.

I liked the comment about telly tubby tummies Grin
