Ah ok, my bad Buddha. I'll just slink off to sit quietly in the corner now...

I agree with your MIL Definitely that's pretty much what all the females with kids have been saying to me and hubby. He finally agreed when his sister announced her pregnancy. Besides, I bet you'll wonder what on earth you were worried about once you have that cute little bundle of trouble in your arms.

Definitelysometime · 29/05/2013 19:52

Thanks Buddha - it does feel like the right timing. It's just blimmin scary the whole thing, isn't it? I'd really hoped we'd own our own place before TTC but house prices (hell, even itsy bitsy studio flat prices) round here mean that won't happen for a while. Maybe ever. Are you hoping to TTC as soon as the mortgage agreement is in your hand?

Buddhagirl · 29/05/2013 18:51

Hello there :) how exciting! I agree with mil, your married, 30, perfect time :)
I reckon a lot of people have worries about their lives changing and money, etc.

Definitelysometime · 29/05/2013 18:42

Hello fellow soon-to-be-TTCers. I've been absent from the boards for a few months, dutifully taking folic acid and trying to not think about impending TTC too much. I have (drunkenly) celebrated my 30th - a big pre-children milestone for me - and AF has just arrived meaning, I suppose, that I am officially TTC! Meep!

Are others in the May / June lists about to start? How are you feeling?!

I'm a bit panicky now that the time is just around the corner. Not enough money saved, feeling too young and immature, scared about our whole lives flipping on their heads etc. Which I realise is ridiculous as it might well take us four years.

And, as my MIL says, sometimes in life you just need to close your eyes, hold hands, and jump off...

Buddhagirl · 29/05/2013 17:51

Faddy : yeah fair plays!

Disney : i meant the monitor that tells you when your most fertile days are, £60!

DisneyDiva87 · 29/05/2013 12:16

Buddha I have 1 packet of clearblue and then I am just buying cheapies, the clearblue is for that wonderful moment when I get a BFP on my cheapie tests.

That way I'm not wasting money unnecessarily but will still have the assurance that I'm not imagining that 2nd line.

FaddyPeony · 29/05/2013 10:18

Just saw from the stats list that you're living with your ILs, Buddhagirl - in that case your DH's want to wait is understandable! Hope you get there soon anyway :)

Buddhagirl · 29/05/2013 00:08

Madame, fuck it, do it. Money isn't everything as long as you won't be hungry or homeless.

Buddhagirl · 29/05/2013 00:07

Thanks Faddy, that helps. I know I'm being illogical. I think partly I want to start ttc so I know either way. Weird.

DH doesn't want to start ttc until we are in our new house, so I'll have to wait. I'll live, first world problems!

FaddyPeony · 28/05/2013 23:10

Buddhagirl... I always had a very strong feeling that I would find ttc difficult - irregular periods, etc. But then DD got conceived when TTC was the last thing on our minds. Totally not in any way planned - we were just careless with contraception. It was very silly really because we rent and at the time I was on a career break to pursue a hobby - meaning no maternity leave and feck all funds!

But it was all absolutely fine. I was able to pick up part-time work again fairly quickly after having DD. The house we rent isn't particularly baby-friendly (marble floors, arghhh), but it's the only home she's known. That you both have good jobs is brilliant and very important. Owning your own house...still nice, but less important IMO :)

Buddhagirl · 28/05/2013 22:58

Reading this forum freaks me out, I just know I'm going to have a hard time conceiving... Which is odd as you can't predict these things.

I'm so fed up with waiting. Yes it would be better to be in our own house but we have good jobs and a decent deposit, it can take a while to get pregnant and then it's 9 months anyway! As soon as dh gets his first pay check from his new job I'll be kicking in Halifax's door.

Pretty sad... I looked up how much a clear blue fertility monitor was on ebay. A lot as it turns out.

AnnoyedAtWork · 26/05/2013 22:26

Really tempted to say "fuck it" and do it now...

Finances wise, conceiving next June would be the earliest we can afford

But that is still quite soon! Smile

Now to convince DP and my sensible career minded side!

Buddhagirl · 24/05/2013 22:08

Yay for all the newly weds :)

It took me 1.5 years to get my periods back after depo, but I've heard they can come back much sooner. You might conceive having not had a period!

FaddyPeony · 24/05/2013 21:57

Hi everyone, I'm going to join in too!

Firstly huge congrats moominlike. And also to you, Nottalotta on your recent wedding. I am your wedding twin, I also got married a week ago today! It was a fab day.

We have tentatively talked about ttc #2 in the autumn - most likely from the end of September. I have a 16 month old already, who is fab. She was seriously hard work as a small baby and I couldn't understand my peer who also had small babies talking about how great it was and how they wanted to try for #2 straight away! But now I get it. DD is just lovely.

I'm taking Dianette (pill) at the moment, mostly for my skin. It's not a great drug to be on, I'm well aware, and I'm planning to stop taking it around end of August. I'm well aware that it could take me quite some time to conceive, as my periods can be a bit irregular. That said, DD wasn't planned at all and was a happy accident!

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/05/2013 16:49

Hello everyone, not sure if i should be here or not but what the hell. I am 35, no children. Been married a week today!! (yey!) Was on depo provera for six years, last injection sept 2012 so was 'covered' til 6th december when i didn't have another jab. Still no AF appeared yet. So, while i probably can't say we are ttc, i am not trying to not concieve (make sense??) went to docs today re snottiness and mentioned lack of AF and he sent me off for blood tests to check for hormone probs. Trying not to worry but very aware of my age.

Buddhagirl · 23/05/2013 23:20

Found ya!

Years ago I was on the old thread, The Date has been put back and back but finally we have a 100%: When we get our new house. We both have jobs, 30k deposit, come on Halifax give me my baby!

AnnoyedAtWork · 23/05/2013 11:09

Aw I see I'm still on the list! Thanks guys xx

AnnoyedAtWork · 23/05/2013 11:08

Ugh I'm so jealous of all my friends getting preggo and having cute babies! I'm 27 and have 8yo dd but have now started proper career (2yrs in) and its just the wrong time. I need to be promoted at least once first, if not twice, or I can wave bye bye to all the progress I've made!

Also want to get married first and we talk about it a lot but I know DP doesn't have the means to save for a ring although our parents would help with wedding. Ideally we would get married aug 2014 and ttc straight away but I fear both of those things may have to be delayed by at least one year. Impatient sob! Confused

PunkyPod · 23/05/2013 10:30

Best birthday present ever Moomin! I hope I get the best Christmas present ever Smile

moominlike · 22/05/2013 17:53

Thanks everyone! Still in shock (and POAS almost daily just to check!) as I just never expected it to happen so quick. Cheesy I know but it's my bday soon and this is the best present I could ever wish for.

Thanks for the support and good luck with WTTTC and TTC when the time comes. I will be keeping an eye out for more BFPs here :)

blueamber · 22/05/2013 09:10

Congratulations moomin!

PunkyPod · 22/05/2013 08:53

Hey there - could I join?

We'll be TTC from November so a while still to go. But I am so impatient! My DD is almost 1 and I'm feeling so incredibly broody for a little squish. We had a tough start with DD as she just wouldn't BF, so the first couple of months were just a battle to breastfeed although she hated every minute of it. I soon realised breast was not best for us. And then everything changed for the better. So basically I want to experience enjoying that teeny tiny baby stage, I felt a bit robbed of it first time round.

We're getting married at the start of next year so I'm hoping to be a tiny bit preggo by then. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations Moomin Grin

OwlBeThereForYou · 21/05/2013 22:52

Wow just read above, congratulations moominlike !!

OwlBeThereForYou · 21/05/2013 22:50

Can I join in too? I'm 24, no dc, we're waiting until we have our own house (currently house share), which I'm hoping is August time but realistically could be next year Shock I'm extremely impatient and am not good at waiting so some moral support would be nice. A major part of me wants to say sod it and start now (I'm still on the pill ha!) as its probably going to take forever to get a BFP but I know sensibly that's not a good idea Hmm I hate being sensible sometimes! Well enough whining, cake anyone? Biscuit
