Newbies very welcome provided they meet the strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 3+months, must have a special pot, NO instadiffers) and bring a bouquet of sausages when they join!

cate seriously, just go back and see someone else at the practice and tell them you would like a referal to your local FC clinic. Maybe get a joint appointment with your husband? we did and I think it makes them take you seriously. I had already had one hormone blood test done for something else that year, so they referd him to the fc first to get his swimmers checked. I am now waiting for my appt (his swimmers fine).
You should not have to go private, especialy at this early stage.
If you are not satisfied with this gp there is nothing stopping you changing to another practice - just go into one and ask to register.

Cate555 · 17/04/2013 22:18

I'm 38!! married 4 years I thought she might have taken me a bit more seriously. She was quite dismissive with a 'you aren't sick what are you doing here attitude' I was hoping for at least blood tests. Anyway I've been looking up costs at a private clinic but they would have to start from scratch. Sad

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/04/2013 22:18

Frog can I pm you re contract mat leave wording? Don't want to abuse your skills but would appreciate your view!

Trying123 · 17/04/2013 22:16

Thanks peanut and great news on the interview, good luck!
Know how you feel charming, our 2 week window was extended this month by another 4-5 days after LH on day 20! had some tough moments trying to "make it happen" had to give up and try again later a couple of times. Found catching him by surprise while waiting for dinner or something 'inventive' helped instead of waiting till we went to bed at night Wink

BombasticPeanut · 17/04/2013 22:06

Trying that's rubbish. Just because you haven't had had yours yet doesn't mean you can't offer valid assistance. Drives me crazy when people say things like that, ok she doesn't know you're trying but it's still so judgemental! Popping a baby out doesn't make anyone the oracle on breastfeeding, knowing your stuff does! Grr. Anyway, I also hope you're mistaken about PMT and AF takes a hike. Fingers crossed..

Frog haha maybe the vet just got sick of temping and decided to stick her thermometer where the sun don't shine!

Charming it's so hard isn't it? I've got to the point where DH knows he's expected to get his romance on every couple of days during SW (and our shag week lasts up to two months, poor man - I don't know how he's still standing) but I don't tend to push it if he really feels he can't. I suppose it's easier for me because I really don't know if, let alone when I'm ovulating so it's just a stab in the dark (HA!! Oh no. Bad joke alert). Have you tried bribing him? I tend to find if he's not in the mood, a back massage on the bed tends to lead to other things...

Cate that's harsh. How long have you been trying? Maybe ask for a referral to the gynae clinic instead, that's who I'm seeing at the moment because I can't get referred to the fc until Aug (even though we've been trying almost a year now.. stupid rules Angry ) Mind you, when I say 'seeing' I mean 'not seeing', it's been a month since they did the last blood test and nobody's been in touch to discuss the result with me despite constant chasing. Useless.

Trying123 · 17/04/2013 21:46

Hello to all!!
Cate how long you been TTC for and how old are you? -suggest going to see another doc and ask for a referal to FC if you think you need one! i am 33, after 12 months TTc we went to docs together and they started the ball rolling strait away.
Had a lovely and rubbish evening all in one today -round to my sisters (step) who has a 3yr old and a 6 week old. Breastfeeding has not gone well either time and she is still struggling and not giving into the fact she needs to give more formula easily (avoiding appt etc). have loads of sympathy for how this makes her feel, but not to shout too!. was trying to have a serious conversation about some of it and her Mum (who has come up to stay for the week to help her out and has been trying to get her to accept things!) turned round and said "its diffilcult to take advise from someone who hasnt been through it and had children" F*** cheek! admittedly she does not know we are TTC, but as she has been trying to get me to talk some sense into my sister I thought it was bit much and made me want to scream!!.
I took a deep breath and said nothing of course, but am still fuming with the pair of them really.
AF due tomorrow, really hoping this isnot PMT, but bet it bloody is.

there all off my chest, sorry for the rant.

Pipbin · 17/04/2013 21:26

Welcome Vicky sounds like we might be IVF twins!

No news here really, I'm 7dpo today but I don't fancy my chances this month really. It sound like, if all goes well, that we should move house next Thursday. So I will have my diagnostic test at the IVF clinic on Tuesday, AF here on Wednesday and move house on Thursday. Argh.

Frogcatcher · 17/04/2013 20:07

Evening berries! Been a bit AWOL so no chance of catching up but sending hugs & Flowers to all those who need them. Nothing new here. Noticed rather disturbingly yesterday that the vet uses the same Babymad thermometer as i have to shove up the cats bottom. Something to do with needing the extra sensitive decimal place for animals I hope & not that she is TTC & brought it from home. Cried at work today after a v stressful few days tho nothing to do with TTC or AF as I'm only on CD9 FFS! Need to start shag fortnight soon. merk I trained as a lawyer in a former life if that helps on the maternity wording at all?

CharmingCats · 17/04/2013 20:03

didnt want to read and run, but have to go and cook dinner. Hello to you all. really glad to hear that berries are getting appointments/interviews and job offers!

CD14 and getting what I think are ov pains as I write. Trouble is, we tried to dtd earlier and it didn't come to a successful finish. which is exactly what happened last time I ov and we missed the egg. More than slightly concerned by this....dh isn't used to the regular sessions, he says! we dtd on Saturday and Monday (eod). May try again later, but feel even tomorrow morning would be too late...grrrr.

Many sausages to you. Will try and check in later, but otherwise, it'll be tomorrow. Thinking of you all.

Cate555 · 17/04/2013 19:58

Oh woe is me Sad went to doctor yesterday to talk about lack of pg and unusally long period and after a 60 second conversation she said come back in 6 months!! (ffs) back to pimping and temping like a maniac Confused

Bunnygirlie · 17/04/2013 19:51

Yay to the jobs/job interview!

peanut yep it's awful, she is only 29 but she has been TTC 18months so just as desperate as the rest of us Sad

OP posts:
CatsCantFlyFast · 17/04/2013 19:39

In fact could do with your opinions on how you read the maternity leave but a bit concerned it might out me or the company!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/04/2013 19:38

Evening ladies and hello to new berries! Sorry for those of you with bad news/delays/crap appointments/migranes today. In my world I have accepted another job! Yes I only started my current job 5 weeks ago, however its a contract (not permanent) role. The deciding factor was that my boss in current role is a nutbar (she's female) and makes everybody miserable, and I don't want to be a part of that. Anyway job I had applied for before current job started asked me for some interviews and I accepted an offer today. Yey! It's with a very well known company that I'm very excited about. I now just have to figure out how long I need to wait to fall pg before I qualify for maternity pay as the wording is quite confusing!

BombasticPeanut · 17/04/2013 19:01

Sorry bunny, crossed posts. Poor girl, that must be crushing to hear, although like you say at least she can get to the front of the IVF queue now. Hearing things like that makes me so sad on behalf of all us poor longterm ttc-ers

BombasticPeanut · 17/04/2013 18:57

Hey barking well at least you were prepared for the crushing disappointment wait. It still sucks though. Looks like we're all just waiting for the sweeties to be doled out!

Tally pants. That's a long time to not be allowed to play the game. At least you're spared the am I/aren't I rollercoaster but I'm sure that's scant comfort Sad. Can you phone up the clinic and ask if you can have a cancellation if one comes up?

Hi Vicky, sorry to hear you've had such a horrible time, but IVF! Hooray! Hope your first cycle is the one for you x

In other news, today I've been offered an interview for a job I really want when I graduate. Suddenly convinced I know nothing and will look foolish under pressure (normally I'm a smug know-it-all). Have to do a 10 minute presentation and it's a 6 hour group session under observation: EEEK. Also, I know at least a couple of other girls in my cohort have applied as well, so I'm up against them as well as actively trying to sabotage my chances by potentially getting knocked up before I even start Confused. Think I might have a sit down on the pity sofa and some nice calming Wine since only CD7 today so no chance of pickling Peanut Junior. Barking says it's ok so it must be Grin

Bunnygirlie · 17/04/2013 18:47

barking glad your appointment went well. Ref NCiS I think this series has lost its way, it's starting to bore me a little, and I used to love it!!!

tally yay to the appointment!

The girl who waxes my legs, who I have been chatting with as she is also TTC had an op last week to flush out her tubes coz of her PCOS so today when I saw her I wanted to see how it went. Feel so bad for her, basically they said her tubes are fecked! They may even have to remove them, just awful! At least she is going straight for IVF now, I just hope it works for her!

OP posts:
Tallyra · 17/04/2013 17:44

welcome Vicky, sounds like you had a very horrible time, but yay for ivf!

barking, I'm sure I saw that one a while ago and was also pretty disgusted with the writers. series 9 maybe?

I just got a phone call (well a few hours ago, but I'm in bed with a migraine so feels like only just) with an appt for the fc. its on 11th June. June!! So we have to not TTC til then! I think I'm going to go mad, we can't do that. I almost want to get my coil put back in for that long!

barkingtreefrog · 17/04/2013 15:59

Hi vicky sounds like you've had a nightmare but how exciting to be starting IVF this wkd!! Grin . Fingers, toes and everything crossed for you Thanks .

Bunny forgot to say before, it was the new series of NCIS, the most recent episode. DP and I have always been fans but this series I swear they've brought in a new script writer as instead of the gritty storylines we seem to be getting distasteful amounts of American cheese. A female marine giving birth while Ziva defends their position and Silent Night plays in the background being a perfect example of this!!! Bring back the grit!!

vickypicky · 17/04/2013 15:03

Married been ttc for 2-3yrs, ectopic aug 12 tube removed, hsg dec 12 other tube buggered...start ivf at Oxford this weekend... Nervous to say the least! Shock

barkingtreefrog · 17/04/2013 14:57

Had my first fc appointment. Really glad I had all the berry knowledge to prepare me as it was exactly as expected (rather than miraculous as originally naively hoped). I've got to wait until the next cd1(why did I have to come on early, cd3 today!!) and call to book an HSG and then I'll have the dildoscan just before we see the doctor next time so I don't have to make an extra journey. 3 months until the next appointment but then we'll get clomid to hopefully regulate my cycle and sort out my LP phase, and they'll do another cd21 blood test and see if I have managed to O earlier.

So, now in the predicted 3 month wait with an HSG to look forward to in the meantime.

DP asked about alcohol and she basically said he was fine. He did say he had 2 or 3 pints twice a week though, unless it was a special occasion. I wouldn't say this was a strictly accurate account of his drinking but it's not like he drinks every night. She told me the occasional glass of wine is not going to make any difference to me either Grin .

BookTart · 17/04/2013 11:25

Cheers peanut :) I don't even know what I'm googling for - I don't understand any of it! The fc said that they might try me on a couple of cycles of Clomid just for the sake of it, so maybe that will help as well. I think there's something about taking baby aspirin for linings as well, so I might do a bit of reading up. Or, I might stuff all that and have a sandwich and a nap...

BombasticPeanut · 17/04/2013 10:48

BAH book, stupid updiffed schoolmates. Mine are all at it, stupid fertile classmates.

From what I know about follicles, the LH surge is only released when they reach a certain size - so it'll keep growing until it's big enough to produce enough oestrogen to trigger the LH surge. Maybe it's just the fact that there's a dominant follicle that's good, it'll have to get to the right size for you to ovulate?

BookTart · 17/04/2013 10:33

peanut, I must get a copy of that CD! Whale music makes me giggle like nothing else (even though I'm a total hippie).

Well, appointments all done for this month. Scan lady seemed pleased with it all but I'm not convinced there isn't a slight problem. Dominant follicle is only 16mm on CD12 and I usually OV CD13-15 so that sounds quite small. Also, I had a sneaky look at my notes from Monday's scan and my lining was only 7mm on CD10 which sounds like the low side of okay. Guess I just have to opk and hope I catch OV on whatever day it decides to happen. Won't know what happens next until my appointment at fc in mid-May though, so this cycle is a bit of a lost cause I fear.

Oh, and best friend from school is diffed. Again. We're only fb friends these days, but I'm still Envy.

BombasticPeanut · 17/04/2013 09:21

Morning berries!

Good luck today barking and book.

Barking much though I wish to pour sceptical scorn on the happy clappy cervical mucus visualisations, I have to admit to owning a fertility visualisation CD. I haven't actually listened yet because a) I'd giggle b) it has a whale-music-type background track and c) I'm not quite ready for tie-dye and birkenstocks yet. But then again...can't do any harm

Pip Bwahahaha. Damn that fertile seaweed. Rude.

Have you decided what tests to get done merk?

Thunder hope it's a BIG bratwurst Grin

Thundercatsarego · 17/04/2013 08:23

Morning all. Well I flushed the fmu and packed a bratwurst into my handbag just in case I have another 'moment' today.

barking that is hilarious. It's the plentiful fertile cervical fluid bit for me too. Good luck today -and to book too.

Bloody sister's uni friends and seaweed. Grrrr
