Thanks merk, I'll give them another call next week.
poppy, don't be surprised if it suddenly hits you in a week or two. Let yourself mourn. And rant at us when you feel you need to xxxxx

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 23:03

tally push, moan and rant. Be nice but insist you get what you need. You will never be friends with the doctors etc so don't worry about offending them. Pretend you are American and demand the service you expect. Remember you have paid for the NHS and deserve excellent service, in a crude way you are paying their wages

PoppySeedBun · 12/04/2013 23:03

Hello merk thanks for the offer re MC. Actually feeling ok about I now. It's been a rotten week, but now just feeling a bit sad and disappointed, as we thought we were on our way and now have to get back to the dipsticks and all that glamour. I was 9 weeks with MMC that looked like 6 on the scan.
Thanks as well tallyra - I've had a couple of days off since the ERPC, and it seems it went as well as it could have done. Physically, I'm in pretty good shape, considering.
I can tell I'm going to have trouble keeping up with you lots - the acronyms come quick and fast around here, don't they? Smile

Tallyra · 12/04/2013 22:51

On another note, I went to the surgery today to get.a copy of the referral letter they sent, so I can follow it up. turns out the doctor is pretty crap . the letter is worded in such a way as to not really describe my problems or the actual worries I have and instead makes me sound like a trivial shallow person. she also actually lies - saying there was no conclusive thing wrong with the embryo from my last mc when it was actually tested and found to have trisomie 9. she may have meant that there were no implications of being caused by either of our genetics, but she clearly spent about 30 seconds writing this. and then didn't address it to anyone in particular so now I'm not sure if I should just wait for the secretary to get back or try and push it a bit in some other way. GRRRRRRRRR!Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 22:50

Oh that's crap, sorry Tally. I'm still in the last 5 days of hope ignoring the fact I woke up to spots this morn which is my hormones saying AF is coming

Tallyra · 12/04/2013 22:43

Yes, we were both having a wonderful time last cycle playing with dipping sticks. AF for me is due tomorrow or so, and I'm feeling a bit tender, emotional and my back is BLOODY KILLING ME today, so I think it's safe to say she will be here very soon. Not that I doubted it this month.

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 22:36

I knew I'd tempt you back! How you doing today Tally? Weren't we cycle buddies last cycle (meaning we won't be this time due to my everlasting cycles)?
cherry glad to hear you sound a bit more positive. Apply for the job and put Sod to the test!

Tallyra · 12/04/2013 22:26

It must have worked Merk, here I am! I think I'll slink in over here and just curl up on the corner as far away from your wriggling as possible though.
Hi poppy and welcome. I have had 3 erpcs so I understand what a horrible thing you ate going through right now. Keep your chin up and drag that quilt over us and here, have this Wine and Biscuit. while I drink my sweet Brew .

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 22:24

So so sorry about your MC. Do you want to talk/rant/cry about it or not?

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 22:22

Er of course you can poppy, welcome in! Apologies for stripping but it does tend to ensure the absent bunnies return to the sofa for some more chatting!!Confused

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 22:21

sid that's awful, so shitty, sorry x
However it seems that berries are missing since 19.30 so instead of sympathising I am going to do the berry classic to tempt people back...

PoppySeedBun · 12/04/2013 22:15

Hello, can I join too?
33, TTC about 2 years, diagnosed with PCOS in Jan, PG on first round of Clomid in Feb, but just MCed this week (ERPC on Weds) and trying to keep smiling.

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/04/2013 22:12

bajas and fairy pleeeeaaaase set your alarm for 30 mins before you normally wake. After a cycle you will do this in your sleep. Fairy if you O over a weekend FF will struggle to realise if your temps are out. Tell yourself its for 60 days then you can ignore me. It really does make all the difference for most people.
In advance apologies for multiple posts, catching up on my phone and need to post before I forget what I want to say after reading a couple of posts!...

back from the GPs and am done crying from frustration.
She did authorize a thyroid blood panel, set for Mon, and seemed surprised my previous GP hadn't requested it already.

Frustrating bit is that this GP wants to refer me to a neurologist, to 'get control of' a neurological condition I have that necessitated surgery several years ago. It's already under control, but I do have periodic headaches. Her logic is that any fertility clinic will automatically want the neuro condition signed off on by a neurologist, so may as well handle it now before being referred to a FS. In the meantime, she wouldn't set up an HSG, saying the fertility specialist would do that when the time comes.

So, basically nothing will happen til I've seen a neurologist, and if I'm still not pregnant in 4 months, I'm to go back to her and she'll refer me to a FS. Told her we won't qualify for NHS IVF due to DH's existing kids, and her response was that she could refer me to a private clinic now, or I could wait and be referred to an NHS clinic, and have as much testing there as they'll allow before sending me off private.

I'm frustrated bc it just seems like she's chosen 4 months arbitrarily - we're cycle 10, so 2 mos would be the 1 year mark, and she said she never refers anyone trying less than a year. So why do I have to get to 14 months? DH says to just call back after the neuro appt is handled, and tell her I'm ready for a referral to NHS clinic, and forget about her 4 month timeframe.

It's all so frustrating. She told me to keep having sex 3x a week, and 'try not to worry'. Yeah the prospect of blowing 4 months til I can be referred to a place with a 3-4 month waiting list for an intake appointment really isn't worrisome at all Angry

Cate555 · 12/04/2013 19:20

Barking that is absolutely awful!! What a nightmare. I do think they need to pay for the cleaning.

Just an update BBT arrived today along with long lost AF (CD42 wtf) I'm delighted to get started again poor DH had himself convinced I was pg.
Going to take temps at 6.30am so I take it any temps recorded outside of that time will screw up the chart??

CharmingCats · 12/04/2013 19:03

Hello all,

How did it go at the dr, sid? I hope you got what you needed?
barking what happened with the builder? Brick dust is horrid stuff - I'd be livid too. Do they have brains at all? Good idea to take pictures. I also like that you listen to Radio 2....my fave!

So, I went to the consultant last night. Bloods were normal - had high estrogen and LH, which fits with having had af when i did. Also, got a smiley opk that day and ewcm - so nice to see that it all ties together.

Scan showed some follicles on my ovaries, so a slight case of PCOS, but not supported by blood results. Could just be down to not having had a period for a while and the follies being there waiting. I'm going back for a day 21 progesterone test on my third cycle after the amenorrhoea. Other than that, keep dtd to 'expose myself to a natural event'. No answers, as such, but no reasons to worry either.

Due to the law of sod, I have also come across an advert for a teacher in a school that sounds ideal! Grrrr.
Any Friday evening plans?

haycorn · 12/04/2013 18:34

Hey berries, hope you are all having a fun Friday night (even if it does signal the end of the holidays fellow teachers). Hope you have got your house sorted barking, I would be fuming too.

So had my first blood test this morning, and nurse said she was testing for testosterone, thyroid stuff and progesterone, but she was very brisk and I felt too intimidated to ask any questions. So could any of you more experienced berries explain what they will be looking for? Is the testosterone test to see if I have PCOS? And I know lots of you have been talking about thyroid issues for a while, but I don't really know much about this. How do thyroid issues affect TTC? Thanks in advance for any help. I'm such a wuss, I always feel too embarrassed to ask questions or push my point when I'm at the doctors. Guess I'm going to have to grow a pair if I need more tests etc. in future. (Or not, I imagine suddenly developing a pair of testicles could well hinder the baby making process even further!)

Bunnygirlie · 12/04/2013 18:12

Oh balls! I posted this morning and it's gone!

Had my day20 test today, I wonder what it will show, do I want it to show ov or not?!? Confused

cherrycoconut · 12/04/2013 17:12

Well said Sidney, very articulate Good luck at the docs.

Barking you have every right to be apoplectic, I would be definitely. Brick dust is heinous stuff and it gets everywhere, I can only imagine the mess!

Cheers Yorkie I'll join you in raising a glass of favourite red wine herbal tea to a great man. RIP Dr Edwards.

yorkiebilb · 12/04/2013 16:54

barking I would be absolutely livid. I felt angry just reading your post. Idiots! Hope you manage to get it sorted before your friends arrive.

I'm going to go home tonight and raise a glass to Dr Robert Edwards for giving thousands of couples/individuals the opportunity to have a child when they thought all hope was lost.

Wimwom · 12/04/2013 16:05

Barking - I would be hitting the roof, hope it's getting sorted for you, shitty builders.
Sid - need to ask for thyroid function tests. This will include thyroid stimulating hormone and the levels of the actual thyroid hormone being released. If the thyroid hormone levels are low there should be no question of you getting thyroxine, if the stimulating hormone is low that's when you will need to push for thyroxine as the fertility clinic suggest a much lower level than the gps will tolerate. Good luck!

SidneyBristow · 12/04/2013 15:41

OMG that is outrageous! Is your DH going to call them to sort it out? Be sure to take photos before you start cleaning (if you'd planned to do any of it yourself)

Tallyra · 12/04/2013 15:29

They need to pay for a carpet cleaner then. that is out of order. and leaving the door open? in this cold? not to think of the security! I'm right there with you!!!Angry

barkingtreefrog · 12/04/2013 15:25

No idea about thyroid sid sorry, but can I change topic again? I need to RANT!!! Angry Angry Angry Angry

Having the walls outside the back re-grouted as damp is coming into the kitchen. Left the builders to it this morning while we nipped out to Ikea. What a fun way to end the holidays Came back and they'd left the back door wide open. The entire kitchen is covered with a hicks layer of red dust. The floors, the kitchen sides, the shelves and everything on them etc etc. The cleaner came yesterday. The house was immaculate. We have friends coming round for dinner tonight. It gets worse. They obviously came in to use the toilet. They didn't remove their shoes. There are muddy footprints all up the stair carpet. They didn't shut the kitchen door when they walked back through it so there is also dust up the stairs and into the lounge. I am raging. DP has sent me to the park with the dog while I attempt to calm down. I haven't calmed down.

barkingtreefrog · 12/04/2013 15:18

yorkie I immediately made the assumption that she had never experienced ttc problems but it wasn't clarified. The presenter basically said thank you for your view and immediately cut to a song, she didn't even engage in dialogue, which I think nicely made the point that she was being an ignorant cow. Even I thought a few months ago that I might prefer to skip IVF and go to adoption, but purely because I don't know emotionally how I would cope with the stress of trying and possibly not beige successful. I've since switched to the 'I will try anything to make a child that is half me, half DP. And both of us have adopted siblings as well as my parents being foster carers, so we're both clued up and open to the idea of adoption. Doesn't stop you wanting to see what your own dna combination would make though.
