Kitty, how many cycles in were you when you had the HSG?

My progesterone tests have thus far come back 'normal' (although on the very low end of normal). However, they were taken on CD21 and, in both cases, AF started within the following 4 days. Fertility consultant was not happy about this and said I had to get another one done that was seven days before AF. I am going to get it done this cycle, and I will be amazed if it comes back normal, as that will only be 2DPO!

BlindKitty · 13/04/2013 21:49

boodle lol at 'the girls'. I was convinced it was the answer to everything, but unfortunately, 23 cycles down the line, we have no answers (sad). With short luteal phases don't they give you progesterone to remedy the problem?

Boodlebum · 13/04/2013 21:39

Oops! Just getting to reading back properly; happy birthday, Cats!

Boodlebum · 13/04/2013 21:39

I'd love to imagine that I will also magically fall pregnant after my HSG. I'm pretty sure my problem is hormonal though - maximum 9 day luteal phase. I'm getting progesterone and prolactin done this month and I think that's more likely to turn up a problem than the HSG.

I hope they let me keep my bra on...I'm a G cup and not exactly happy when the girls are on the loose! Grin

BlindKitty · 13/04/2013 21:34

Boodle hmmm well I definitely didn't have knickers on but I think I kept my bra on. My biggest complaint was not having any knickers in the room with me as when the radiographer had finished she put a sanitary towel there and I had to waddle back to the room where my clothes were without dropping it!

Although I obviously haven't had any success, my friend fell pregnant immediately after hers (after about 2 years ttc). She MC but then fell pregnant the next cycle. She's convinced it dislodged something blocking her tubes.

Boodlebum · 13/04/2013 21:21

Thanks, Kitty - that slightly reassures me re: HSG! I am completely pissed off about having to wear a hospital gown though; I don't do leg exposure! I've never had to wear a hospital gown/have an x-ray before...will I have to be completely in the nip underneath?!

BlindKitty · 13/04/2013 21:16

Boodle lol you've not outed me! I think changing my name to an even more conspicuous name has done that (I have a blind cat).

The Last Leg was great! Alex put is on the guest list so we got to wait in a little bar area and has some free drinks, rather than wait hours like everyone else. Didn't really get on telly though (sad)

Don't worry about the HSG. I panicked about mine and it was absolutely fine in the end! Did have some odd discharge a few weeks later like papier mache (sorry tmi but thought you should know so you don't freak when you see it like me!).

Boodlebum · 13/04/2013 21:08

Gah! So much stuff to read every time I come on here! That does it; I'm just going to have to give up teach and become a full-time 'veg on the sofa and read mumsnet-ter'!

Welcome back Soph Kitty! I was wondering where you had got to...mainly because I wanted to hear about your 'Last Leg' audience experience!(Hope I'm not perpetuating the sensation of being 'outed' there!

So, I had a letter through today about my HSG. I have to book it on my next 'CD1'. I was absolutely amazed to have got the letter through so quickly, but am now quite nervous about it as the letter said how it can be very difficult and upsetting and I should have someone there with me to take me home!!! Shock I'm sure if it was that bad I'd have heard about it on here, I know Pip's had one - it wasn't awful, was it?!

BlindKitty · 13/04/2013 20:46

Bunny thats rubbish. Been trying to 'play it cool' and not obsess so much so decided not to come on here to see if it helped. Guess what? Still not effing pregnant lol so just going to come back on when I like regardless of what dh thinks

Bunnygirlie · 13/04/2013 20:30

Hey kitty, no grads in a long long time!

BlindKitty · 13/04/2013 20:26

Hi Guys

I'm back! Decided on a name change (Soph80 was somewhat conspicuous) although blindkitty also kinda gives the game away Decided that people that know me really don't need to know my cd, af, cm, etc etc!

Anyway, whats new? Any graduates whilst I've been gone?

Bunnygirlie · 13/04/2013 19:24

CharmingCats · 13/04/2013 18:22

Ps, welcome poppy! So sorry that you've had such a tough time. The berries are a good bunch. Totally unlike the mn stereotype that seems to be everywhere in the media.

bunny I saw graham norton last night and after we dtd today, DH said 'but you have to lie down for 20 minutes now, don't you?'

CharmingCats · 13/04/2013 18:20

. It's my birthday Smile, so have some cake with me.

Nice to read your news. sid that sounds like a good plan, sorry you feel so frustrated though.

merk got everything crossed for you.
cherry gwyneth Paltrow has just released a new cookbook that is elimination based. Not sure if it eliminates everything from your list, but might be worth a look. So glad that you're already feeling some benefit. I feel inspired....I had some intolerance tsts done a couple of years ago and found I have several, but never successfully eliminate as it was too hard and I was battling depression. Might give it a go now. Can't hurt, right?
barking glad you had your evening with friends despite the builders.

Going to visit the school on Monday afternoon and do the application tomorrow. The interview is on 24th, so not much waiting round, which is good.

barkingtreefrog · 13/04/2013 16:26

Hello Bunny. I am full of a cold and had a crappy nights sleep but there was blue sky today so managed to drag myself out for a ride on the road bike. Of course by the time I'd got out it then clouded over and started spitting, but feel better for having done something. Now on the laptop to get my lesson planning done. Only I'm blatantly getting nowhere as I wouldn't be on here if I was getting it done would I?! Also procrastinating by finishing the photobook I've been working on all week for the couple that got married last weekend. It's got photos from the wedding of all our group of friends, with a message from each of them. It's taking forever but hopefully will be something they love!

Naughty Merkin Shock. Did you still manage to dtd at the right time despite your temporary abandonment of temping & pimping this month? I know what you mean about being encouraged that the sperm has met the egg though, that's why I tested early last month, I thought I might be able to detect something before AF arrived too early and flushed it away!! But then got scared and thought I wouldn't cope very well if that actually happened. Swings and roundabouts...

yorkie I will be taking it all the way through my cycle. I used to take it for energy anyway, so can't see it can do any harm on the 50mg dose I've ordered. It's meant to be dangerous above 200mg apparently, but I don't intend to take 4 tablets a day...

Sounds like good news thunder but this waiting game is indeed incredibly frustrating, even when things are heading in the right direction.

SidneyBristow · 13/04/2013 16:10

Merk fingers and toes are all crossed for you, maybe this is your cycle!

Peanut can't blame you for getting overwhelmed at work; must be hard enough during your midwife gig, but to have a front-row seat for pg stuff at your 2nd job sounds just too much to take. We all crack sometimes; even if your coworkers don't understand, we do. Hell I got teary at Nando's the other night, just bc a pg lady had the nerve to sit at the next booth Hmm so you're a much tougher cookie than I am.

Frog anyone who thinks being a stepmother is the same as being a mother needs a reality check, but sadly they probably won't ever get one. It's so aggravating. I love my SKs but it gets hard sometimes being an afterthought to them, when their well-being is always at (or near) the top of my list.

Poppy welcome, and sorry to hear about your MC Thanks this TTC stuff is really not as straightforward as we were all led to believe, is it? i hope you're getting lots of support from your DH & family.

Thanks all for the encouragement re: the waiting game. I truly get the impression the GP is basically trying to get me past the 1yr mark, heading towards the 2yr mark, bc 'statistics show that 95% of couples get pregnant within 2 years'. Well F that, statistics aren't going to help me if something v simple is wrong that nobody bothered to investigate til 2 bloody years go by. So I'll be doing as suggested, handle the neuro stuff (which ought to be simple as there isn't a problem to 'fix,' just needs annual monitoring) and call GP back immediately after and request the NHS referral, or a private referral if NHS wait is too long. I was upset yesterday bc it just felt like I was being pawned off, when all I was doing was requesting what was available per NHS guidelines. I might to put on my pushy American hat next time; this time, my sweet Southern belle bonnet was on, and at this point Scarlett is kind of pissed, so I'll be politely pushy next time Wink

Bunnygirlie · 13/04/2013 15:45

So what are you lovely berries up to today? Quiet day today just catching up on tv and sorting some paperwork, what fun!

Thundercatsarego · 13/04/2013 15:11

Thanks girls, I was being eeyore still feeling a bit disappointed but you're right it is a positive change.

Well done with the sleeping cherry, do you think that having some positive action to take has taken some of the weight off your shoulders?

Tallyra · 13/04/2013 15:08

naughty girl! Well I have my fingers crossed for you!

cherrycoconut · 13/04/2013 14:58

Thunder that's great, I hope it keeps on dropping for you, a major reduction already. Fab!

Naughty Merkin but it sounds like you can be cautiously hopeful. I have everything crossed - you've really given yourself some anxious waiting times now...

Bunnygirlie · 13/04/2013 14:43

Naughty merkin!
