Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

Hello, have taken all 5 clomid pills and no side effects. Fingers crossed ...

Quackers · 27/01/2004 09:44

Glad you got going on the Clomid Bunny!!!! I'm really keeping my fingers crossed! Any side effects this time???? get BD'g!!!
Willow, don't know if this helps. I did have a table but can't find it! here link won't work - sorry!
I just know a continually high FSH means nearing menopause.
HTH

Azure · 27/01/2004 09:39

Bunny2, I'm pleased to see you on the thread. I don't know anything about clomid, but I hope it works for you again. I have been very proactive, dug out my Persona and spent my Christmas bonus on the two packs of test sticks needed for this month. I conceived the first month of using Persona last time (though think it was a coincidence), so fingers crossed.

bunny2 · 26/01/2004 21:31

Hellooo, found you all! I've been away for a few days with no internet. Good to be back.

Me TTC #2 for ages.
1 ds, nearly 4
2 m/cs since 2001, now not ovulating

I have just taken my 4th clomid pill (it worked for me last time) so ... this time next week I'll be bding for England!

Good to have some new people here, loads of luck to us all.

willow2 · 26/01/2004 17:00

I am sure this has been posted somewhere - but there are so many threads that I thought I'd ask anyway... does anyone know what the "acceptable" levels of oestrogen, fsh and lh are throughout your cycle - and also how long each of the three phases last?

pollingfold · 26/01/2004 16:04

You don't need to tell them about your family plans, in fact its illegal for them to ask you any questions about your ideas for family, since this could be construed as giving rise to discrimination (say compared to someone who wasn't thinking about having kids)

What you should consider is the financial impact of moving - it maybe that you lose some of your maternity rights that you may have now(those above the statutory maternity pay of £100 pw).

Good luck with all the BD'ing

Moomin · 26/01/2004 15:55

BDing = baby Dancing (i.e. shagging!)
AF = Aunt Flo (period)
It's like being in the 5th year again, isn't it?!

valleygirl · 26/01/2004 14:28

'scuse my ignorance but what is "BD'ing" and what is "AF"?
I'm 32, TTC baby no.1 - have 2 step kids, so play at being mum regularly!
this weekend was fertile time - never thought i'd ever see the time i'd be having sex specifically to get preganant. Have just started trying after discovering that BF's vasectomy reversal was successful!!
lets see what happens in 2 week's time! am also trying to find a new job - possibly not the best time to also be thinking of getting pregnant. Anyone know what thre law says about having to tell a new employer about being pregnant at time of being offered a job?

jellycat · 26/01/2004 13:54

Azure, sorry to hear you've been feeling down, but try not to be hard on yourself. My first pg ended in a m/c and it really took me a long time to start feeling better - and I had lots of ups and downs. My dh, like pollingfold's, really couldn't understand why I was so depressed - he felt very optimistic about our chances of conceiving again and having a successful pregnancy, and he was right too. His positive outlook was hard to cope with though - I really felt he was trying to deny my feelings IYSWIM.

I totally agree with fisil about the fantasy thing - I find it just sets me up for a huge down when AF arrives (I also felt this in my second pg - I really tried to take one day at a time, rather than imagining myself with a baby at the end of it, and I think it really helped me through the first few weeks when I was so anxious).

I hope that helps. You are not alone!

hana · 26/01/2004 13:50

Azure - we all do that - we went away shortly after my m/c in October without dd and of course I too had great hopes that I would be become pregnant! Even convinced myself that I would be one of those women who got pregnant without having a period after a m/c and when it arrived, what a blow it was. Men aren't the same as women and it's probably good that they can stay positive and perhaps bring different thoughts and emotions about ttc, loss and the ups and downs along the way. Every month when af arrives it's going to be tough.
Lots of us here and well, we KNOW.
love hana

Azure · 26/01/2004 13:32

Thanks for all your support. I never, ever realised how devastating having a m/c was. I have also had such feelings of regret for not TTC #2 earlier - I want DS to have a brother/sister NOW. Time seems to have disappeared into a black hole since he was born. But this is not creating the happy, babydust vibe needed on this new thread - so come on girls, get producing!

fisil · 26/01/2004 10:56

I understand the tears too. It is not easy! When I was having counselling the (male) counsellor told me that there is nothing wrong in indulging in a little bit of fantasy thinking during those two weeks between the perfect prime time bding and the af. I totally disagree. If I let myself get carried away in those two weeks, the blow of getting my period is even worse.

pollingfold · 26/01/2004 10:43

Azure

Totally understand the tears, many of us have been there, its like a bolt through the heart when you see the signs of Af arrival.

I was the same and my Dh couldn't quite understand my distress, he took the view that although it was sad to have a m/c the poisitive was that we had been pg and therefore we would be again.....he was right.

Stay happy, and book another weekend away for a bit of nookie!!

BigBird · 26/01/2004 10:42

me - ttcing #2 for a year. dd was 2 last mth.
Have been temping since last Summer. It is great.

Moomin · 26/01/2004 10:42

No, not ridiculous at all, Azure. You're still grieving for the baby you lost. Perhaps you've also done what I've done several times since ttc, and that's build a conception around one "ideal" situation or another. I was convinced I'd conceived in June because we'd been in Edinburgh for my b'day and it was very romantic... I did the same in August for our wedding anniv, all to no avail. It's another way of raising hopes too much a bit I think. I know everyone always says to relax and it's by far the best policy but it's SO HARD, isn't it?!!! Try not to be too hard on yourself and all the best for next month... xx

Azure · 26/01/2004 10:24

A/f came this weekend - was not expecting to be due until next w/e. It was my first proper cycle after the m/c, and during the prime ov time DH and I were staying in a hotel without DS for our wedding anniverary (hence lots of bd'ing). Have been quite tearful, which is ridiculous.

Kay1 · 24/01/2004 20:26

can i join too? Am new(ish) to this whole thing but have checked out this site and especially this thread for ideas and suggestions over the past few months - very recently discovered fertilityfriend and the temping thing is really really helpful - reassured me that i am still ovulating and am not yet menopausal!!

me:

Moomin · 24/01/2004 19:45

lots of sad things about m/c and terminations, but won't put them down. Onwards and upwards....

positive thoughts rub off don't they??
hana xx

and so much for staying away!!!!!!

bluestar · 23/01/2004 20:51

I'll join the new thread too. TTC #2, ds 3, I will be 30 this year, took 8 months to conceive then mc last summer, been doing my temps this month and have now ov'd so in the 2ww. Agree with Quackers about temping, gives you a real insight, also worth recording how you feel on a daily basis, eg, I get strong cramps just before ov on one side, and very bad headaches just after, start to see a pattern after a couple of months. Good luck to us all.

Quackers · 23/01/2004 20:40

Hiya Ermentrude. I couldn't see the benefit for ages of temping but when I tried it I couldn't live without it when ttc! It gives such an amazing insight into your cycles. Show your DH/P a full cycle and show him where you ov and where it dips before AF or keeps high if PG!!! Mine even had a dip where the embryo implanted which happens sometimes! He'll be amazed. You'll know precisely when you ov. If you want more help on temping, go to www.fertilityfriend.com and download the handbook. It's good bedtime reading! No scrap that, something else more important you should be doing in bed!!!! If you need any help on temping though, just ask!!
Good luck all on this new thread!

ermentrude · 23/01/2004 20:28

I have ordered one of the basal temperature thermometers from Boots online.
I told DH and he thought I was crazy! He thinks we are being too eager though he wants a baby too.
Surely it will be benefical to record temperatures anyway - to get to grips with my cycle?

juicypips · 23/01/2004 19:36

Hi girls, 28 years, started ttc august last year then fell preggers in september then sadly m/c at 10 weeks. Waited for one period then got the green light to try again, so have been trying since, period will be due in a week, am soooo hoping! Good luck and love girlies, a lucky, lucky year for us all, im sure, can feel it in my waters!!

ermentrude · 23/01/2004 18:53

Oh it slipped my mind to mention that I too was a regular poster with a different name.

jellycat · 23/01/2004 16:57

Mum2Ela, yes I do have another nickname for my regular posts, but I'm not a prolific poster and I don't think we've `met' before. Sorry, I'd rather not give you any hints because I was rather surprised when I found out that I'd been rumbled before and I really don't want people I know in real life to read the details of our efforts at ttc! Sorry, I hope you understand. I promise to reveal myself if I graduate from your new and hopefully very lucky thread .

BTW, I didn't mean to suggest you all sounded depressed, just that I felt you would understand if I needed to sound off about this ttc business.
