Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

just want a moan about the scheduling of smear tests - have to be done mid cycle, fair enough, so that's about day 14 give or take.......and you are supposed to refrain from intercourse for 24 - 48 hours before!! That's prime time for me in terms of ov'ing. I've been going mad trying to schedule the right time for my appt - . Grrrrr. There's another month. But I really need this done so it has to come first.
Still optomistic though. If not now there's always March. That was a lucky month for me last year so you never know.

Waiting for everyone to pee and post....!

bluestar · 03/02/2004 08:52

Last night thought af was coming and was convinced that af would be here this morning but not yet. Still spotting though. Feel really drained this morning but partly due to feeling that af will turn up (don't think I'm a lucky one who spots and then is still pg) but will wait and see.
Hope you get good news CD, sounds promising.

Azure · 03/02/2004 08:30

Hi all, now getting excited about CD and Bluestar. Virtual pain au chocolats for breakfast for all of us.

fisil · 03/02/2004 08:14

Get a pissy stick, get a pissy stick, get a pissy stick.

I am sooooo excited! Let us know the news as it breaks!

hana · 02/02/2004 23:13

ohhh Cd that's rather exciting, haven't been any graduates for at least a week!
Glad to hear your gf is gone too

CountessDracula · 02/02/2004 23:06

Damn thought had pissy stick in cupboard but box was empty. Forgot I had awful indigestion last night and have it again tonight, oh god oh god!

Is prob psychosomatic though

bunny2 · 02/02/2004 21:01

Thanks Fisil, your virtual choclate was delicious (but not as nice as the Mars bar I ate aswell)

Kay1 · 02/02/2004 20:40

Bluestar, I don't want to get too excited for you either but that all sounds really positive to me.

When i was pregnant with ds, i had lots of spotting and cramps about 2 days before AF due. I was away for weekend on a canoe trip!, thought there was no way i could be pg and that AF was coming early so got very very drunk, spent a lot of time upside down in not too clean river and basically had a great weekend, spotting carried on for about 3 days then stopped and AF never came - by the end of the week, i had other pg signs - nausea, huge breasts(!) etc etc and eventually did test which was positive. I then spent next 8 months worrying about effects of alcohol etc but he was fine!!

Good luck for tomorrow and hope its all positive for you.

fisil · 02/02/2004 20:30

Here's some virtual chocolate - just as satisfying, much fewer calories!

bunny2 · 02/02/2004 20:24

Wow, CD, get a pissy stick now and do a test! Good luck, I really hope you have good news.

Bluestar, I understand why you are cautious but there are some interesting signs - the spotting and the dip post-ov are very promising. Fingers crossed tightly for you.

I have had a crap 24 hours. Clomid makes me have some terrible mood swings, it is like bad PMT and I had it last time before I ovulated with Clomid. Hopefully it means ov is imminent (no pissy stick surge yet though). I have been shouting at dh and ds, totally out of character for me. I feel really bad now, I had so little patience with ds today. . I want some chocolate.

fisil · 02/02/2004 20:14

Ooh CD - how exciting. Have you done it yet? Glad to hear you're better.

Had a bummy day at work and really wanted to cry and felt overwhelmingly tired. Same first signs as last time. But then again, work was really tear provoking and tiring today, so I guess there's probably another explanation. The great thing about knowing exactly when I ovulated is knowing more precisely when af should show up, so I'm not getting all the concerned right now.

bluestar · 02/02/2004 15:24

Quackers, temps have been plotted on FF and ovulation marked. Big dip just before ov, ov actually occurred 3 days after dip, but temps did rise. Also had other symptoms I get with ov, cramps etc and right side throbbing (mc happened on left side so please all pain this month has been from right side). Dropped on day 7, then rose to a third higher level of temps (triphasic is it??) and still high today. Can't really call it spotting, just a very small amount of brown staining, that is not always there. No other reason for dip on day 7, no alcohol, restless night etc. Too scared to believe might be pg, sure af will happen, but usually feel that it will come but this time I don't. Guess will see what happens overnight/tomorrow. Can't face wasting more money on a test. Thanks for support.

CountessDracula · 02/02/2004 15:10

Hi all, I'm back from holiday and back on the case! Glandular Fever seems to have gone, we have had a lovely week away with lots of BDing!

Am now wondering if I may be pg already, I originally booked the week away for last week and remember looking at the calender and thinking that was the ideal time to be BDing. Had to change the week and forgot, but looking at dates I should have had AF last weekend oooooerrrrr! Also got all hormonal and weird on the plane and cried because I was tired and the food took so long to arrive. However have not got sore boobs etc. Think it's pissy stick time!

Quackers · 02/02/2004 10:06

OOH spotting too!!

Quackers · 02/02/2004 10:06

Bluestar, now I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but a dip around day 7 after your ov rise 'generally' signifies an implantation dip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I stress generally as for most this is exactly what it means but I know my friend had a dip and got AF a week later. A dip can also mean a restless night or too much alcohol. If you had neither then it's looking promising! Any chance of posting your temps and I can plot them here and see what I think????

Azure · 02/02/2004 09:46

Kay1 and (hopefully not) Bluestar, it's so disappointing when AF comes, isn't it. My last AF was only 10 days ago and yesterday bleeding started again. What is going on with my body? It's useless trying to use Persona with my cycles all over the place.

bluestar · 02/02/2004 09:32

Feel a bit down this morning. Have been doing my temps and had a dip just before ov, got high temps, then got a dip on day 7 past ov, then really high temps and still a high temp this morning, however, have also had some spotting this morning too. BD took place at the right time. Have been weeing a lot, sore boobs, don?t particularly feel that af is on the way but why the spotting? Af would be due tomorrow and it will probably come and that makes me feel down as temp chart has looked so good. Will I ever get pg again?

bunny2 · 01/02/2004 22:57

Perhaps I should change my name then!

Kay1, sorry this wasnt your month. You just have to swallow the disappoitment and look forward. Its bloody hard thoug isnt it?

fisil · 01/02/2004 19:04

And I looove Nunny!!!

fisil · 01/02/2004 19:03

Kay I think af's are worse when ttc. I keep saying I wish someone would do some research on it, see if I'm right!

Very exciting all this temping - sounds very technical. I've just got to grips with the ovulation sticks this month. I'll give them 3 or so months before I move onto the temping, I think.

Good luck ladies.

Quackers · 01/02/2004 18:56

Kay, all the best for next cycle then if this one hasn't been successful. The temping is fab as you say and won't take you long given the insight you get!!!
Hry Bunny, that's your new nickname - Nunny!!!! I just called Boots 'Botts' on the other thread!!!

Kay1 · 01/02/2004 11:59

Well Af has come already! In fact shortly after my last post i got cramps - still convincing myself it was ok - and then woke up in middle of night with really bad pains and yep its now here! I think its my age (i'm now 38) but AF has been getting worse over last few months - very painful and heavy.

i ended up watching tv at 5am this morning upside down on sofa with hot water bottle - countdown proved helpful in keeping my brain occupied - i even got a 7 letter word and managed to do the numbers!!

I was feeling quite devastated actually as i had really hoped it would work out this month, but have now started new chart and hopefully even if it still doesn't work, they may begin to show some sort of pattern to help work out why.

bunny2 · 31/01/2004 22:31

Quacks, when I saw Nunny, I thought "great, a new joinee to this thread". Isnt nunny a euphamism for a woman's bits? That would be appropriate.

KAy1, good lcuk for Monday. I have my fingers crossed for you.

Temping is exciting, I love my dip and keep looking at my chart (must get a life).

ermentrude · 31/01/2004 20:10

Reading all your stories about temping, I am getting quite excited!

Got to wait another 2 weeks or so before I can start though.

Thanks again for all your advice.

Kay1 · 31/01/2004 19:22

i only started charting using the fertility friend site this month but i had the dip before ov. I can't believe its taken me this long to start charting as it gives a really amazing insight into what's actually going on. I've been ttc for over a year and for the last few months had been following the GP's advice of 'trying not to think about it'- yeah right!!

My first chart (and using OPK) has shown an ov dip, huge temp shift after ov and the site also shows the exact date when you ov'd. i had problems working out what was day 1 too as i seem to have spotting for 1-2 days before AF kicks in properly.........i usually spend these convincing myself that this is just implantation spotting and generally becoming very obsessive about the whole thing!

my chart shows that temps are doing what they're supposed to and we seem to have bd'd at all the right times, so now am hoping that the temp doesn't fall, AF doesn't come on monday as expected and yippeeee......

Heres hoping!
