Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

At last some success on this thread! Best wishes for a smooth and successful pregnancy.

Oh Eyelash

Well done you!!!

eyelash · 05/02/2004 15:09

Well - I have had some good news. I had a scan today and it looks like I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant with an estimated due date of 4 October. DH and I had decided to take a break but as is the way of these things we got pregnant! In hindsight we did have rather alot of bding and were also very relaxed!!!! I took the test last week after I realised I was late (had last period on Christmas day). Then had a bleed on Saturday night and Sunday morning, but the doctor at the hospital said I had a cervical erosion which was nothing to worry about.

I am still very nervous after our trials last year but I have another scan next Friday at the follow-up to the miscarriage clinic. So fingers crossed.

BTW - all my tests from the miscarriage came back and showed no problem as well. So good news all around.

BigBird · 05/02/2004 14:01

Ermentrude - broken nights commonplace here too !
I hardly ever have 3 hours of sleep before taking temp but it doesn't seem to make much difference. I'm still getting a low line followed by a high line generally.

Jellycat - happy bding.

My next ov should be just after Valentines weekend ! How appropriate
Am starting the plans already !!

Azure · 05/02/2004 13:28

I restarted / reprogrammed the Persona a fortnight ago, it was the AF only 9 days later that confused me. Thanks for the input - looks like it's back to square one again. Grrrr.

Quackers · 05/02/2004 12:52

Jellycat, you're dead right, Azure you had a m/c and that means your cycles will be so different now. Restart your persona and go by the lines as Jellycat says for the first months, well hopefully you won't need more than a couple!! You should save money by using persona then. I do like clearblue though too if you know your cycles pretty well.

jellycat · 05/02/2004 09:46

Bluestar - I tried the Clearblue ones, which have 7 sticks per pack, but had the same problem as you - had a couple of long cycles and ran out of sticks before getting a surge. That's why I decided to get a Persona, because it tells you when to test and in the long run I decided it would be cheaper. Hopefully it'll work and will end up being more expensive though! I'm sure you can get OPKs on the internet which might work out cheaper than buying in the shops.

Azure, I think it might be better if you completely restart your Persona, otherwise it will get confused about when you should test (Quackers, do you think that's right?). After all, the main reason for wanting to store lots of data on your cycles would be for contraceptive purposes I should think. Even if restarting it means you don't get an `O' the first month you could still go by the lines on the sticks.

bluestar · 05/02/2004 09:19

I really hope someone in the Saturday club gets some good news to share - will anyone here start the 'Anyone due in October' thread?? Feel better today. I try to look forward rather than back but you do wonder what it will take to have #2. Anyway will try OPK again this month, for those that use them, which do you recommend? Everytime I use them, my cycle ends up being longer than I expect and therefore I run out but plan to bulk buy this month.
sending some happy vibes to us all

Quackers · 05/02/2004 09:15

Glad I could be of help!!! That feel so good! Gald you got your thermomoter!!!! Great news about your O!!!!!!
I have to say after both m/c's it took AGES to get back to normal. I had such irregular periods, but I beleive your body is trying to find the rest button. I remember not ov'g a couple of months after and was shocked! I went to the Doc and she gave me clomid which was silly after just one anovulatory cycle! I didn't take it and got pg the next month using OPK's and temping.
Bunny, that is so heartless what that lady said. She is of course naive to these things, as we were before our losses. Hope you get your 'o' today/tommorow!!!
Cha Cha, you too, you're Bunny's Clomid pal!!!!

Azure · 05/02/2004 08:47

Jellycat - how exciting to get an "O". Happy BDing! My m/c was 3 months ago and I had some form of bleeding for 2 months. I was then clear for a massive 5 days before AF started, another AF 3 weeks later, then 9 days later (the last two only lasting 2-3 days each). Aaargh. I haven't known what to do with Persona, so pressed my "M" button to correspond with the most recent AF and am back on day 4. Maybe I should reprogram it to start again (more expense ). Bought a thermometer yesterday so I can imbark of the very confusing yet fascinating world of temping. Have downloaded the Fertility Friend handbook recommended by Quackers to help.

jellycat · 04/02/2004 23:14

Hello ladies. Well, Quackers, I got an `O' symbol this morning and have had bad ovulation pains this afternoon and evening so it's all systems go! Then the dreaded 2ww.

Sorry to all those - I think CD, Bluestar, BigBird and Azure - who've been visited by AF .

And CD - sorry about your friend. Hope today wasn't too horrible for you.

Azure - how long is it since your m/c? My periods did take a while to get back on track after mine. Very frustrating though, especially as you shelled out on the Persona sticks .

Kay1, getting pg seems such a complicated business I sometimes wonder how anybody ever does manage it. Even if you time everything right, the embryo has to implant sucessfully, and divide properly etc well before you can hope to get a positive pg test. So I suppose it's not so surprising that it takes a while for some of us. You said you'd been trying for over a year. Are you thinking about going to see a doctor at all? I've been wondering how long I should carry on before starting that ball rolling.

Bunny, what an awful day! But well done you for standing up to those bullies. Tomorrow has to be better . How soon would you expect to ovulate after taking the clomid? Hope it just comes a bit later than you expected.

We all seem to be feeling so down ATM. This month I didn't even want to try because I thought if we didn't try then I couldn't be disappointed when AF arrived since it would be inevitable !!? But dh persuaded me we should go for it

bunny2 · 04/02/2004 22:23

Sorry, that was a bit brief - chatting to dh.

Pls be easy on yourself, these pills can really screw things up. I have been all over the place for the last few days. The only thing keeping me going was the excitement about my imminent ovulation. Now it looks like I am not going to ovulate I feel really p*ssed off that I have been so emotional for no reason at all. You're in good company here

bunny2 · 04/02/2004 21:23

Please dont cry.

ChaCha · 04/02/2004 21:07

I think the side effects are kicking in.
I am becoming over sensitive, oh my gosh...i feel like crying over EVERYTHING!

HELP!

ChaCha · 04/02/2004 21:03

Hey bunny,

I would have given you support too, i'm so sorry!!! When i was reading your posts, i thought you were trying to quit altogether, that's why i said 'do you really need..blah blah blah'.

Supported you on a crossed wire, whooopsy!

Baby dust x

bunny2 · 04/02/2004 20:54

Kay, posts crossed. Thanks.

bunny2 · 04/02/2004 20:54

Thanks for that support Quacks . I had it and it was damn good.

I forgot to add, another horrible bit of my day .. I was chatting to the nice old lady up the road and she asked if ds was an only child. When I replied that he was she said "Oh, I was an only child, it was very lonely". I wanted to scream at her but of course she doesnt know I have miscarried ds' siblings . Why dont people think before they speak?

Slink, looking forward to comparing EWCM notes with you

Ermentrude, I have asked the same question. I never get an uninterrupted sleep. I think you are meant to make a note of any disturbances on your chart. Not so easy if they are commonplace.

Kay1 · 04/02/2004 20:52

Bluestar - Sorry it didn't work out for you this time - it did all sound really good.

What i find so difficult is not being able to understand why it doesn't work - we do all the right things, all the signs look good and AF still comes. I know i would cope better if i could work out why - obvious i know, but i suppose i'd hoped that temp charts would help and it seems that even with all that info, you still can't necessarily find an explanation or understand what's happening.

Bunny -Big glass of wine sounds like very good idea to me - cheers!

fisil · 04/02/2004 19:21

ermentrude · 04/02/2004 19:11

I know that alcohol and trying to conceive are not the best companions....
However, after reading all the information with the BBT thermometer, I understand that alcohol and broken night's sleep can affect the temperature readings.
If so, then how much?
Broken nights are common place in our house

Slink · 04/02/2004 19:04

Thanx bunny 2 printing and reading info at the mo. xxx

Quackers · 04/02/2004 16:04

Yes she does need it!!!!!!! Bunny what a bad day. Have a glass and put your feet up tonight. xx
