Thanks peeps for the rousing fertilisation dance. Lets hope it does the trick, of course it will cos it is the Brookers doing it.

It has been a bloody tough day. I have found it more difficult that when we only got our single egg last time. I think my expectation was so much higher with it being a donor cycle. The clinic had said to expect at least 8 so to only get 5 is very disappointing. DH has also felt down that we had to use ICSI, but I don't really mind that. Of course ICSI has an additional cost but we get a refund as we didn't get 8 eggs. I have had a long conversation with our nurse this afternoon, she said the keep in mind that the donor last, recent, donation had a positive result. So I am hoping for quality over quantity. They will ring us in the morning to let us know how many have fertilised. Then Thursday they will grade them and we decide what to do & when. I think they will push me for a 3 days transfer but we will see how things progress.

Thanks so much for all your Brooking efforts.

I just realised we haven't been doing the fertilise eggs fertilise dance for sweetie's eggs. So I'll start it.

Hope you and mrsweetie are doing ok and relaxing at home.

So cups you don't think that me passing round a peestick during our morning coffee break should be the way I announce my pregnancy to my colleagues? I'll have to think again, I've probably got a while to think about it though Hmm

GrinGrinGrin Beedle I nearly pissed myself laughing at that. I guess seeing as people have started posting pics of their tests on FB then that's probably not far off!
(btw I dont mean any of the brookers on private pages, I mean those crazy people that post them for everyone to see).

Well done on controlling yourself Geek

How are you doing Sweetie hope you are at home now and taking it easy.

I've just got back from a counselling session, my manager offered it to me when I last spoke to her about IVF & I thought why not. I feel so good now, it was uncomfortable going over some of the subjects but the counsellor was really nice. It was great to be able get all the negative thoughts out without fear of being judged. I've tried counselling once before & hated it so was pleasantly surprised how well the session went. Has anyone else seen one?

geek did she hand around the still-dripping pee-stick for everyone to admire as well? [bitch emoticon]

no beedle, just some super fertile spring chicken who happened to make a v public announcement. If it had been a bloke, I'd have been leading the round of applause myself!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 09/04/2013 14:25

Shock geek Is it the bloke that's pregnant? Then I could possibly applaud!

OP posts:
BeedlesPineNeedles · 09/04/2013 14:24

sweetie sorry the news wasn't as good as you had hoped for. But please don't worry about the ISCI, they'll be picking the absolute best sperm to give your 5 eggs the best chance. TBH I'm amazed any bloke over the age of say 25 can manage to go into one of those rooms and produce a good sample with such huge pressure to perform.

((hugs)) to you both and remember it only takes one

OP posts:
ControlGeek · 09/04/2013 14:22

...I have just reached a new low in the world of pg announcements. Being forced to applaud. Oh yes.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/04/2013 13:14

Beedle I agree the pee stick was faulty. However the triple whammy endorsed stick making its way to you will be brooking no arguement for a BFP Smile

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/04/2013 13:12

(((Hugs))) Sweetie I'm sorry your upset, I know it is not as many as you hoped for. But 5 is a good number, you may still get to freeze some if they all fertilise. I'm sure the ICSI is probably a bit of a shock (it certainly was for us when we were told it would have to be ICSI) however try to see the positive. A lot of people choose ICSI as they feel it is the best way to do it. I hope your DH is ok, I know my DH took it hard over his rubbish sample. We are all brooking for you both xxx

ControlGeek · 09/04/2013 13:01

Sweetie (((hugd))) but 5 is goos, and fertilisation ratea with icsi should hove you an excellent chance. Brooking for some strong growers ready for et x

keepitgoing · 09/04/2013 12:10

Oh sweetie. It only takes one, but I'm sorry you didn't get more eggs. I hope they all fertilise brilliantly with the icsi, they WILL, and you will have them all still there on Friday. X

SweetieTime · 09/04/2013 11:56

Only 5 eggs, DH sperm rubbish so ICSI. Will hear more later. Am really upset & at work so off home to cry.

ControlGeek · 09/04/2013 10:40

Good luck sweetie! That article was very interesting, and raised a lot of things I had wondered about anyway but I hadn't spotted that it was written so long ago. I've not been through an IVF cycle yet, so I don't really feel I can comment as I have no idea what I would do in any given situation. It's all very easy to think 'I would do this...' but until I know the emotional investment firsthand it's only theory iykwim. Would pushing for day 5 transfers give you more confidence, weighed up against the potential for losing everything before day 5? Would you prefer to know sooner (ie day 4) that it wasn't going to work, rather than going through a whole 2ww to find out? It's such a horrible, horrible game no matter which way you look at it. Sorry, reading back that all sounds really harsh. I don't mean to sound negative. Perhaps just ask the questions of colin the clinic and make your mind up based on the responses?

beedle sorry about the faulty pee stick. The non-faulty one must still be in the post.

2nd day of high temps here, so stealth ov is almost confirmed. I can't believe I'm going to have a cycle under 30 days!!!

ScarlettInSpace · 09/04/2013 08:46

Good luck sweetie x

SweetieTime · 09/04/2013 08:45

Beedle sorry to hear about the faulty pee stick. you just wait until those olives has posted. we all know grad endorsed pee sticks are the most reliable

thanks for those links keep i know we have to do what the clinic colin recommends. Dh has gone this morning with a few questions to ask while he is tgere. He has to wait for them to review has sample so might be a while. He is even more clinical thinking clinic want to do day 3 transfer because they will be closed on Sunday which is day 5. Shock I am sure that is not the case as we could do Monday morning. Will see what they say. We really come across as dead stroppy but we really aren't Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 09/04/2013 05:38

Really interesting article sweetie but as to whether what he is saying is right, who knows. I had also heard that the uterus is a less harsh environment than the lab. Also that article was written in 2001, that's 12 years ago (I know it doesn't feel like that long Shock ) who knows what developments have been made in that time. And if it really was the holy grail of IVF wouldn't more clinics be doing it by now to increase their pregnancy rates? Anyway you have lovely spring chicken donor eggs that will result in your much longed for pregnancy, and I'll brook no argument. So there :o

Sore boobs and negative test here but AF not due for a day or two. Time to get ready for work

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 09/04/2013 03:33

Your clinic recommendation. Sorry 'bout imps fingers.

keepitgoing · 09/04/2013 03:32

sweetie masses of good luck and love for today. I read that article and think that man has a bee in his bonnet. He also says he does assisted hatching on all.

My clinic here say that 30% of embryos will be chromosomally normal on day 3; 70% on day 5. So basically better to wait to day 5 to weed out the bad ones. But, if you have few embryos there's no point waiting so might as well put them back in the best environment (its thought the lab environment may kill some healthy embryos).

this article suggests no difference in pregnancy rates, and is a RCT. Most just compare preg rates which isn't fair as patients have already been self selected to day 5 transfer, ie those with lots of embryos etc.

I would say two things - firstly I think you ultimately need to go with your Colin CC'd recommendation, as each lab is different and you want them to do what you do best. Second, you are having this camera thing, which may negate the argument of not knowing which the good 'uns are on day 3.

Wait to talk to them, and see what your fertilisation numbers are like.

Good luck good luck good luck x

SweetieTime · 08/04/2013 20:30

Solars lovely to see you, seems ages since we last heard from you. Good luck to MrS when the time comes, we don't want a repeat of SoapGate Wink What does your monitoring cycle entail?

Grin at pee sticks wizzing their way over to Sweden. I wonder if they scan mail coming into the country? Olives did you have to state what was in the package?

Geek no one has said if we get to see embiecam but I presume not live anyway. I know other ladies have been given the DVD of their embies but not sure if this is available at our clinic. I would love to watch it live though that would be very interesting even though I wouldn't have a clue what I was looking at

Does anyone know the success rates for different day embie transfers? I am not sure if I should accept day 3 transfer or push for day 5. I have read this article (beware it is negative towards day 3 transfers) and am now confused. I might ask DH to ask the clinic for their info when he goes tomorrow. Does anyone else have any links I can review go mental worrying about options ?

Solars · 08/04/2013 16:31

Right, finally sometime to myself so I can catch up with you all.

Sweetie that is amazing that it's all come around. Will you also be at the clinic at the same time with DH? The embycam sounds very exciting. I'm so excited for you. Brooking loads!

Cups It was great to have the time off thanks and I would highly recommend some time off after your ivf result, a nice chance for both of you to reflect on what's happened with whatever outcome you get. In terms of appointments DH has his repeat soap free sample to produce a week on thursday and I may be going in sometime this week when af arrives to start my monitoring cycle so hopefully things will start to move for us too although the last month has been nice not paying too much attention to all things ttc related.

Geek glad to hear your'e healing nicely, but sorry to hear you've been having to work weekends. Yay for a 28 day cycle!!

Can't believe af has darkened so many post-grads doors at the moment, I am not due af end of this week but I think it will be nothing short of a miracle if I get a bfp.

Hope everyone else is good, nice to finally have some sunshine around too...

GreenOlives · 08/04/2013 13:39

Talking of which beedles I posted the FRER this very morning in preparation for your bfp! They should be winging their way to Sweden as we speak! Grin

ControlGeek · 08/04/2013 13:38

This is exciting stuff sweetie - brooking like mad for you! Embycam sounds fab - do you get to see it, or is it just for the embryologists' benefit? Would be awesome if you had a weblink to it!!!

I'm sorry for all the post-grads who are having to entertain AF, she's certainly spreading herself around this month.

A wee bit of confusion in the geek household today. Temp has gone skyhigh this morning, so it's possible that I may have stealth-ov'd yesterday Confused SWI-o-meter is looking good, but I had expected to have to wait at least another two days. On the plus side, this will be my first 28-day-cycle in years
