Well Geek I hate to say it but currently it seems that whenever AF visits you, another brooker gets a BFP. Of course, being a short visit it could be implantation... :o

ControlGeek · 22/04/2013 13:37

Oh ladies I do love to hear your men/ttc-misconceptions stories, it really does reassure me about MrG! sparks I am just Shock at the idea of MrS thinking you could wait a whole week before testing!!!

I'm a bit late to the party, but beedle I did tell me previous (lovely) boss what procedure I would be having, but then he went and left the company Sad My new boss (dink) I have just told it's a minor procedure (or in the case of the lap & dye, minor abdominal surgery). He's getting nothing more from me than that. I have given him high level info that there will be drugs for me to take beforehand and that I'll possibly feel up and down for a couple of weeks after the procedure and have negotiated working from home when I need to during that time.

cups well done on starting candy crush. It's one of the best things you can do to make time fly by. Can I also recommend farm buddies (I think it's called that, I'll check tonight). It's very similar to candy crush but it's crops and ducklings and things - very cute! PS I need at least three friends playing it to get onto the next stage, like with candy crush, so if anyone else wants to play I can send an invite

scarlett and maybe sooooo lovely to see you both bath (((hugs)))

scarlett I'm so sorry to hear about your latest letter/results, that's just pants. But at least they have a course of action for when the time comes, it's not a showstopper. And it will come for you my lovely.

my laptop died this morning! Please brook that the laptop hospital will be able to fix it :) In other news, AF has been here just three days and is already showing signs of wanting to pack her bags. Yay!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 22/04/2013 12:24

I think you're both probably right, I shall try to find a good time to speak to him (once I've worked out what I want to say and how I can say it) And I'll learn the words minor gynae procedure in Swedish too :o

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 22/04/2013 12:10

Just say you have time off. I agree, nothing to be ashamed off, good old mrBeedle. It's more the expectations. I'd think he'll know enough about what it is not to ask... Men.

ScarlettInSpace · 22/04/2013 12:07

Oooh 'minor procedure, nothing to worry about' usually works with nosey colleagues.
Mind you I just told them my sister was coming to stay for a few days.

ScarlettInSpace · 22/04/2013 12:06

But you are now throwing swedish into your posts Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 22/04/2013 12:01

Ok scarlett that's the kind of thing that would absolutely terrify me! I'm such a wimp!

I was also koínd of hoping that although boss-bloke may know its planned sick leave I could just tell my colleagues that I was having a week of holiday. But maybe I'm being a bit over-sensitive about how curious my colleagues will be. I can always use the "can't remember what its called in Swedish" get out :o

OP posts:
ScarlettInSpace · 22/04/2013 11:54

I talked him through the procees very topline and quite vague, concentraing on when i'd need scans & short notice holiday etc, no need to go throught the details!

Our HR manager was fascinated by the whole thing though and asked me to take him through the whole process, we were sat down together chatting about it for an hour Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 22/04/2013 11:48

keep I have a flexible job so I don't think it will be a problem for scans, I could probably be at the hospital within 20mins from my work place, and they do blood tests early in the morning so I already know I can get those done and still be at work for 8 am.
Initially I had thought I won't tell and just book holiday for that week, but then if it doesn't work and I have to take another week and another week, suddenly I'm going to have used all my available holiday for this year on IVF (I have to take time off in July, I do get more than 3 weeks holiday!)

scarlett my boss is very nice, I'm just slightly worried that I might have to explain what IVF is Shock But surely 40 year blokes with kids should have at least some idea what it is shouldn't they??

For what its worth MrB thinks I should tell him as he says we shouldn't be embarassed about it

Sweetie, congratulations!! ThanksThanksThanks
Your news has made my day GrinGrinGrin xx

ScarlettInSpace · 22/04/2013 10:57

beedle I have told my boss everything and that has really taken the pressure off at work not having to lie & sneak about. Depends on your relationship with your boss though...

ScarlettInSpace · 22/04/2013 10:56

Re-update Grin I'm 36, on cycle 28, 1 tube [R removed in 1999 following ectopic], AMH 4.22, FSH 12, diagnosis of DOR [Diminished Ovarian reserve. Whoop. Mind you at least I have a diagnosis]. I had 1 abandoned IVF last year [I only had 1 follicle and a hideous reaction to the down reg drugs]. Tried again last month, got as far as ICSI, got 3 eggs, but they fertilised abnormally so abandoned before ET. IUI is the remaining funded option. We get 3 gos but they will abandon if dominant follie on R side due to lack of tube so could be on the IUI wagon for the next 6 months..

cups We decided that we would go ahead this month as planned but not make any lifestyle changes, it just kind of happens alongside normal life iykwim which has definitely taken the pressure off.

CD1 was yesterday so start the clomid today and 1st scan on Thursday, don't know if they'll be able to tell then which side is going to dominate?

Oh and I got a letter on Friday saying my last swab showed I'm a carrier of Group B Strepsomething, obsessive googling has shown an un-confirmed link to MC & stillbirth, confirmed links to meningitis in new borns so if I ever do actually get to labour I will need to be on IV antibiotics from the point my waters break. Never simple is it.

I actually don't think the universe wants me to have a normal life - I must've been a right shit in a previous life!

keepitgoing · 22/04/2013 10:50

cups it'll be the next one. I'm Brooking No Argument.

keepitgoing · 22/04/2013 10:48

beedle its a tough one about whether to tell your boss. I can't remember what you do, but if its a rigid job I think you'll need to, as you'll have scans etc. If flexible I think you could get away with it, and just say a minor gynae op for EC. I was fine the day after EC, but if you can take sick leave you may as well. I was told to take it easy for 3-4 days after ET, no walking up stairs (!) lifting etc. I think that's when the embryo would have implanted, but mine was a 5 day transfer. Don't take too much leave, I think sweetie thought the full tww was too much for ivf1.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 22/04/2013 10:30

Kitty we are at 2 & a half years. We are unexplained although DHs last SA was a bit rubbish. We are waiting to start ICSI either on next AF or the one after depending on when the clinic can fit us in.

Thanks Sweetie, Solars and Geek I'm feeling a bit better today. I guess I've accepted that I need to be more patient! I've started playing candy crush which is helping as I'm becoming obsessed by that instead of ttc Grin

It's so nice to see so many of the Brookers back on here. Maybe how are you doing my dear? Scarlett did you make a decision about putting off the IUI?

Mr B was the same Sweetie, because the first test was a faint line he didn't think it was real until I did the digital test Hmm just wouldn't accept a line was a line.

SweetieTime · 22/04/2013 09:09

Munxx I really appreciate the attempted routine

kitty we have been ttc 2 years too. Did first ivf in sept which showed I had very low egg reserve. So we just had egg donor ivf.

I have braved the office today as believe it or not i am feeling quite chipper Wink I haven't done any more tests. Dh says tomorrow we should test again as he has read online that 14 days afrer EC would be a true result. They dont know a thing men Wink

BeedlesPineNeedles · 22/04/2013 07:55

Oh and I meant to say munxx nice attempt at the imps rountine :o

morning all

How are you this morning sweetie ?

kitty we've been trýing for 2 years, we have a sperm problem so we do at least know why its not happening.

So I'm trying to decide whther or not to tell my boss about the IVF. Does anyone have any thoughts on this being a good/bad idea? And if I do tell, I was going to ask for sick leave from EC to ET, will that be enough? It will be 3 days as they only really do 2 day transfers.

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 22/04/2013 01:34

We were just under two years kitty. We had sperm morphology issues at the beginning but though these righted themselves we still didn't conceive. So at the end we were unexplained. We did two cycles of iui, but then decided to move to ivf, which worked first time. Some people suggest ivf is using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, as the issue could have been minor, just not found. But who cares, it works! Doesn't it sweetie.

Unexplained is really hard. They say almost everyone would conceive naturally eventually, but that wasn't good enough for us.

We are brooking for your iui.

ControlGeek · 21/04/2013 20:58

We'll always brook for you kitty, that's what we do Grin

BlindKitty · 21/04/2013 20:48

boo that really is inspiring to me. Maybe theres hope yet!

Please keep brooking for me guys. xxxx

RubberBullets · 21/04/2013 20:32

Fab news sweetie

Munxx · 21/04/2013 20:19

Please allow me to do a poor imitation of imp's routine....
