Re cyclogest - my clinic prescribed pessaries initially up to the test date, and then if the test is positive, they recommend taking it for the first 12-13 weeks. At that point the fetus should be making enough hormone not to need it. As far as I understand it, there is no definitive evidence that progesterone support is needed, which is why clinics vary in their policies. I don't think it does any harm though so I would want to keep taking it for the full 13 weeks. hth

Delgirl- just got your message on other thread-sounds like we have quite a bit in common.Just thinking about the cyclogest, do you reckon they give people different doses?probably do . As far as I unserdatand it is progesterone designed to support the growth of the embryo in the womb.
All i know is it is messy stuff at he best of times.

Delgirl- I have been given cyclogest 400mg and am using two a day, but they have only given me enough for 3 weeks from day of embryo transfer. ( last Sunday)

Delgirl - AT my clinic we take them for first 11 or 12 weeks. 1 a day.
Am officially down regged - ( no mean feat given that it took 10 weeks last summer!) will start stimming on Monday!

hi - sorry to butt in but has anyone had to take cyclogest pessaries and, if so, how many and for howlong? I've been taking 1 a day for 15 days (found out I am pg a couple of days ago) and now they have given me another 28 to take twice a day for another 14 days. This was after I said I'd read about someone taking it for longer (can't find it now). I'd be grateful for any advice. Both consultants at the clinic have different methods....great!! Thanks

I told my immediate boss as I didn't really see any way around it, since I was going to need time off work . Well actually I told quite a few colleagues, but then I always find it more of a strain to keep quiet about things than to be open.

Last time I didn't tell any one in work, but found it really difficult to explain my time off. In the end, as it was a part time job with rubbish money I handed in my notice and left as the stress was too much all round. I had already had a bad experience with the company when i had to take time off for diabetic appointments and they cut my pay. In the end i did not have the will for a fight with them even though they were probably in the wrong.
This time I decided not to take any work on as a freelance during the cycle, but we have been so broke as a result and it has put dh under terrible stress. Fortunately DH boss has been thru IVF and has been absolutely fantastic about him getting time to be with me.

Well done Miracleabie - the whole aim is to get 2 to put back and you got it. Nothing else really matters - except them now sticking. Fingers well and truely crossed.
Becki - I've only told my job share partner ad one other colleague who has had multiple cycles herself and by chance is my other 'friend' ( as opposed to colleague) at work. Have no intention of ever telling anyone in management! That said I'm lucky in that my hospital is 5 mins drive from school so most scans I am later than usual for me but technically not late ( just nearly!)it would be harder if therre were long distances involved making me significantly late several times each cycle - still, we all have car trouble from time to time!

BeckiF, you're doing well with the weight so far - keep it up! I never told a soul at work the whole time ... when I needed a couple of days off for collection or transfer I just said I had to go into hospital as a day case for a minor op ... I think because they were all men they just assumed it was to do with 'womens things' and didn't want to know any more!

My appt isn't this week, I meant that I only have to wait one week for an appt when I decide to go for it. I've lost 9lbs now, so I've a bit more to lose before I book in. Probably won't be until May/June time (need to be realistic with the weight loss!). Mind you, if the diet goes well I will be there before, believe me! How has everyone else approached telling/not telling their employers?

miracleabie, hope you're feeling OK (mentally and physically). I think that for me this part of the whole experience was the worst bit - the waiting and hoping and praying that things will turn out well. My warmest wishes and thoughts are with you .... CM xx

well had et this morning. they have put two good ones back. All the rest perished over the weekend.It's hard to feel anything at the moment especially as i had a m/c at 13 weeks last time.But trying to stay calm and postive.

if you were given the standard sedative (can't remember it's name - sorry) it does list tearfulness as a side-effect. I always woke up in tears.

I've just been reading on CARE-ivf about someone who went from fsh of 4 to fsh of 42 in 6 months - apparently the menopause CAN happen that quickly!!! ARRRRGGHHHHH! Doesn't bear thinking about....
SO all the more reason to rejoice when things DO go well.

Hi everyone. Feeling sore and knackered. Occyte removal was successful but really painful this time for some reason. Got 8 eggs and 6 are grade A this morning- so I guess the pain was worth it. Feel excited now and very pleased that bit is over. God it is such a roller coaster of emotion. I couldn't stop crying yesterday- a real rush of hormones, but today feel sore but emotionally OK. ET on Sunday morning. Thanks for all support- it really means a lot.

Oldie mum, beckiF, Cm Cii thanks for all messages and masses of luck to you all at your various stages. just a waiting game now i guess for me.Just really glad to be off the meds at last. Bayleaf- i got it all mixed up and the needle wasn't that bad. They gave me a big one for mixing it up with so thank goodness.....
Off to bed now as I am exhausted and have to be at the clinic for 7am. think good thoughts.....

I think the ET will be in early June, as I've only just booked in.

Found out we only have to wait 1 week for our drug appt so as soon as i lose some more weight we will be in our way too!

OH Good luck Oldiemum - it IS all just luck I'm convinced... When do you reckon the ET will take place? Mine should be early May.
Miracleabie - hope Ec isn't too bad for you - I have to say it's always been a non event for me apart from one time when I had cramps the next day ( and that was the time I got OHSS later on...) I can't remember my pregnyl needle being any different - but it certainly stings more than the rest!
Anyhow - I should be marking unit tests not gossiping on here - thank heaven the CARE-ivf site is 'down' or I'd not get anything done!
