jbrd i think our DHs might be mates!! maybe it's because i sit on mumsnet and dr google all the time that i know more about the whole pg malarkey, but i had to remind mine yesterday that today could be Dday (AFday). i had a night out during rape week and had a few too many and had a little chuck up the next morning and he asked me was it morning sickness aww. (i get theee most awful hangovers and normally have a wee chuck the next day if i've had one too many!)

JBrd · 14/03/2013 10:01

May Sorry to hear about your mcs, but yay for your bfp!

I'd call your midwife or the consultant to ask about the aspirin - I think you're right, it can screw up blood tests. Maybe they can bring the test forward...?

I'm in a similar position - holding out for a BFP (testing tomorrow), and getting blood tests done, fortunately they are taking them today. I'll also start on aspirin asap I know I'm pg.

However, if you can't get hold of anyone, I don't think that waiting until Monday with the aspirin would make a big difference - if you say that this is when your af is due anyway!

JBrd · 14/03/2013 09:56

Thunder and Booty I don't fall into that category (I have a DS), I think I can understand how you feel. When I had my first scan for the then suspected mc and no heartbeat was seen, the sonographer asked if I had any other children. On hearing that yes, I have, she (rather callously) said 'Well, at least we know that you can get pregnant.' Which I thought was really insensititve of her, stupid cow. But yes, there might be a grain of truth in it, although it was no consolation at all for me.

Janie I had to muster a huge effort of willpower not to poas this morning. AF is due any day now, and the test was calling to me, I swear. Doesn't help that it sits on the shelf right next to the loo, on eye level.

Had a rather amusing (well, maybe more exasperating) reaction from DH this morning - upon discussing the eye drops that I'm currently taking for an infection, and that they are not antibiotics because the GP didn't want to prescribe antibiotics as there is a chance I might be pregnant - he stopped, looked rather surprised and said 'That's news!'. What does he think we have been doing? I mean there is a chance I might get pregnant each time we dtd atm! I live in this 2ww hell every month - think I need to sit him down and do some explaining. Honestly.

Maybeamug · 14/03/2013 09:43

I don't know if this is the thread for me. I used to be on the freakout room threads a lot before having dd.

Since then I've had a mmc (twins) at 10 weeks last June/July and another mc in November. Yesterday I got the faintest bfp at 11 dpo.

Am terrified.

I've had some tests for recurrent mc but they need to repeat some bloods due to staff errors and that appt isn't for another 2 weeks.

Gynae said to take aspirin if I got a bfp before results came back but he wasn't anticipating needing to do tests again (and I've heard aspirin may screw up the results).

Has anyone been in this position? And know what I should be pushing to take (if I do get a formal bfp on Monday Confused )

BootyBigFatFridayBanger · 14/03/2013 09:33

Good luck Janie!!

alyant79 · 14/03/2013 09:31

i completely forgot to welcome you birds
it's horrible and sad, and be prepared for more tears as the hormone crash comes, but you will get happier again I promise

BootyBigFatFridayBanger · 14/03/2013 09:30

Thanks Aly Treating myself to a massage today because she arrived Grin

Thanks as well to all sharing your thoughts & experiences - I was only very early & hadn't really had a chance to get very excited for long so I really sympathise with those finding out later on & seeing the scan etc.

Great re the good ovaries tho!

Anyways - enough pondering & thinking too much - I have an Easter Egg I'm going to eat early Smile

JanieLovesCake · 14/03/2013 09:24

wows 4 thread pages already! ad i only missed a day!

aw booty i'm so sorry AF got you :( boo

My AF is due today, so if it hasn't arrived by the time i finish work, i'm off to boots to buy a test - how will i manage to save it for fertile friday testing. polishes halo at not having tested yet trying to hold on to some posifrickintivity, one minute i think i have af cramps, then next minute they are obviously pg twinges going slightly crazy here DH actually offered to buy me the test this morning - i'm quite surprised he did, then as he left for work he came in to the bedroom and said 'fingers crossed your period doesn't come'. that's about as enthusiastic as he has got so i was pretty happy!

hi to all the newbies, glad you found us in your time of need, these guys have been great.

alyant79 · 14/03/2013 09:21

fod what did your ovulation test say? did you get the smiley?

And thanks for the excellent motivation speech. Am feeling up again after my moment of down last night.

thunder and booty I think that's an excellent way to think of it. although i do have a DC, I can appreciate that perspective.

farmer big hugs to you. But as pink said, if the odds can work against us, they can work for you. And (I mean this in a nice way) as has just been pointed out, at least you know you can get pg and you know why they haven't stuck. So now it's just a matter of having the emotional fortitude to keep trying until one sticks. You can do it!

gin apparently after a mc you are at your most fertile ever. So hopefully this is a turning point for you :)

booty shall i bitch-slap AF for you? Done.

Thunderbuns · 14/03/2013 09:17

Hi bird, yeah I had a 'your ovaries are fine' moment too. Small blessings?!

BirdsDoIt · 14/03/2013 09:14

Ha ha booty I know what you mean about the sperm meets egg plan - it's pretty relentless isn't it!! That said, the one month that DH and I managed to dtd almost every other day was the month that I got pregnant even though there wasn't a happy ending.

I feel the same as thunder, along with the horribleness of finding out there was no heartbeat and things had failed quite early, there is also some relief that I have actually been pregnant (something I was never totally convinced about even after 9 positive tests) and hopefully it'll be possible again in future. The doctor who did the internal scan said as she checked them, 'nice ovaries', which made me smile in the midst of everything (she had a strong French accent which made this funny for some reason!) so I have hope!

BootyBigFatFridayBanger · 14/03/2013 09:12

Thanks Thunder Grin

I can imagine exactly how you mean - mine was only literally 'real' (for want of a better word) for about 3 hours until I had the HCG test & it was so low it was definitely not a sticky one. But I still have a pic of my 'pregnant' test Grin

Thunderbuns · 14/03/2013 09:02

Hi booty, love the name btw!

Yes I felt exactly the same. And actually - and this might sound really weird- when I went to my dating scan, and saw the foetus on the screen, even though the pg had failed and there was no heartbeat I still felt absolutely amazed and full of awe about it all. I just couldn't believe we'd actually conceived before seeing that (despite all the symptoms and poas-ing I did!). Hope that doesn't make me too much of a weirdo. Of course this was all mixed up with further shock, dismay and a big punch of sadness.

BootyBigFatFridayBanger · 14/03/2013 08:49

Hi Thunder - I'm with you, looked at the sperm meets egg plan & was like wow! that's a lot of DTD l'ing - my hubby would think I was trying to kill him Grin I'll maybe try to give it go tho

Just a bit of a sensitive question to anybody that would like to answer - something I keep pondering myself & have googled lots but no real info which is, for those of us who have no dc or mc first time, are you a bit relieved that it means you can actually get pregnant? Obviously mc is terrible and a horrible experience, I just keep thinking to myself that it was an indication that I can get up the duff at least, & that must be a good thing? Unlike some poor ladies who try for ages & not a whisper of a BFP. I also wondered if Drs saw it like that too? Dunno - sorry, it's far too early for this sort of pondering I know Smile

Thunderbuns · 14/03/2013 07:15

Hello all. I'm sorry to have been so AWOL and then jump in and out barking random questions yesterday. I was running about and posting on the go.

tins good to see you. I think it's great you're getting some investigations done.

bump SIX days in a row Shock! Very impressed indeed. We just can't manage that kind of action here. I have to be more canny with timings over here. Not that it makes any difference now anyway.

So I'm not tempting fate? Or acting like a loon? Lol get yourself down to the pharmacy, tell yourself it's instead of that bottle of wind or new shoes you had your eye on......assuming that they would be on for all of 5 minutes Blush

MrsSpencerReid · 13/03/2013 23:16

How on earth do you manage to dtd every other day?! There isn't enough time in the day when me and OH are in the same place
