thank you thunder that's helped clear up some confusion, I've looked out the instruction book but is rather vague.

katerinaemalina · 18/03/2013 09:11

I also equate bfp with not a lot as the two I have had have resulted in mc. Am feeling a bit scared as now 30 days in. I have long cycles (I think can't really tell as 2/4 have been mc ha) but around 35 days so in the constantly checking pants stage. Don't feel anything really. Had sore nipples but fine now, some back ache and mild cramp but as we all know could be AF could be preggo. Am going slightly crazy as half of me thinks be better to just get AF than BFP followed by another mc. bangs head against wall me and dh had agreed not to test till 40 days in so another 10 days if AF not shown. May have gone mad by then lol

Thundercatsarego · 18/03/2013 08:58

Morning all. Hi poppy, and welcome. Sorry to hear about your story, You're very welcome to vent on here.

tins, she hasn't told us not to ttc! Just said to come straight in if we get a bfp. Thank you though, I think you're right, I'll see if I can get retested after a month.

littleb it was my understanding that cb generally gives you around five 'high' readings, then a couple of 'peak'? I never used one- don't even know what they look like!- but I think the peak reading is what coincides with a positive normal opk, the highs just give you a warning that it's coming?

LittleBairn · 18/03/2013 08:51

baking please don't feel guilty about not equating BFP = Baby I'm betting many of us on this thread no longer do that. I had such a late miscarriage I'm not even sure if I will believe I'm really having a baby until it's safe in my arms breathing.

Does anyone else use the clear blue monitor I'm a bit confused it started to tell me I was on high fertility on Day 7, which didn't surprise me as I'm sure I ovulate early. But it's now Day 11 and I'm still getting High Fertility but no ovulation indication.
Aren't you supposed to ovulate after 2 days of high reading or can some people ovulate a lot later?
I've looked at all my sticks Day 8 stick seems to be a little darker than the rest. Confused
I do have cheapie OVulation test strips I was wondering if I should use them too but worried I might then end up even more confused.

Mummytothearkbuilder · 18/03/2013 08:05

Thanks ladies - will try and dtd tonight and keep my fingers crossed!!

I am dreading my AF - I feel like its going to be a huge reminder of the miscarriage so would love a BFP instead of horrible AF!! Xx

yay for BFNs when you want one, aly. Only BFPs from now on, please.

Mummy sounds ok to me, normally you ovulate in the 24 hours post LH surge and those swimmers can be active up to 5 days. I agree with Z that if you can DTD today I would, but all is by no means lost. Fingers crossed for a week on Friday!

Hi to Newbies - the thread is moving so fast at the mo I can't keep up.

thunder have you spoken to your doctor about when you can TTC? I would get yourself retested a month after starting and then any dose adjustments needed are not taking too long. My friend's experience is it needs to be you driving the process and hassling for tests.

I'm ok most of the time. Have told the practice manager and the partners at work but said I don't want to talk about it. My boss took me aside yesterday and said "I'm not going to labour it (un fortunate choice of words) I just wanted to say I'm sorry" and that was enough for the tears to come. In some ways I feel like I ought to feel worse - like it's disloyal to the baby that I've coped so well this time when I was such a mess after the first couple. Partly because I've stopped assuming a BFP will result in a baby Sad

However, onwards and upwards, right? I just need to get to first AF then can have some of the tests done about 6 weeks post MC.

EvenIfYouSeeAPoppy · 18/03/2013 07:27

Think it's time I joined you, if that's OK. Might only be in sporadically - not a huge MNer - but could do with being accompanied a bit on this journey.

I had a mc, then dc1, then 2 mcs in consecutive cycles, then dc2, then 4.5 years of largely calendar-method contraception, which brings us up to last spring, when I miscounted my days and got pg. Was Shock but actually quite thrilled. Only to have a mmc, discovered at 9 weeks. I was so upset I think I was grieving for all four mcs at once. My gynae (I'm not in the UK) thought I should have tests. The genetic stuff was inconclusive but the blood tests shoeed up Factor V Leiden and something else I can't remember the name of - something you can usually balance out with increased folic acid. After waiting a few months just to stop feeling devastated and then to get the test results, we started ttc at the beginning of this year. I've always got pg immediately or almost immediately before, and now this is the third (arguably fourth, we took a risk before Christmas) cycle of nothing. Wondering whether my fertility has changed - I still have regular cycles etc., but I've just turned 36 and it's several years since I was last successfully pg - and thinking my next step, if it doesn't work this month, is monitoring ovulation.

I appreciate how phenomenally lucky I am to have my two dc but I always assumed, right from when dc2 was born, that another one would be coming along one day, and the idea that it might not happen is a hard one to get my head around. So hope I can pop on here and vent occasionally.

Good luck to all of us Flowers

Oooops I just danced around the house singing bfn bfn and woke up my DD Sad

alyant79 · 18/03/2013 07:15

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bfn! Bfn! Bfn finally!!!

Not to worry fod press on I say!

Welcome vocal. How about testing Friday with an ultra cheapie?

Zeuxippe · 18/03/2013 07:05

Hi mummy the positive opk means you're about to release an egg. They say the day after is the most important to dtd but sometimes ovulation is delayed. I would dtd again today/ tomorrow for good measure? Hope that helps.

GardenWorm · 18/03/2013 06:50

Mummy I don't think so, not dissimilar to me and I got a BFP x

Mummytothearkbuilder · 18/03/2013 00:15

Hi ladies!! Hope you all had good weekends - I haven't been on today and there has been so much to catch up on - I love a chatty thread!!

I need some advice as I am lying here trying to sleep and driving myself crazy!! So.......on Thursday I had a faint second line on the opk - I know it generally means negative but I summoned DH and we DTD, on Friday the line was darker than the control line (hooray!!) and we DTD, we also DTD on Saturday night and I thought we should on Sunday night too however it did not happen - we tried and tired and I used all my womanly charm (some of which I didn't know I had in me!!) but it didn't happen - have I missed the boat???? I am reading conflicting things all over the web and need some proper advice from lovely knowledgable mumsnetters xx

Hi again, I didn't know about the Friday system but do now! This Friday I will be 1 day pre AF, too early to test? What do you recon?

fod27 · 17/03/2013 23:22

Hi thunder both my mother and aunt have a under active thyroid...is yours over or under? I shall do some research for you (well mither them lots) so glad to see some good news on here too

Also we ttc last night however there was slight bleeding after...what should I do? Carry in regardless? Hold off or contact the dr?
(secretly hoping you tell me to ttc anyway....I know I'm impatient and naughty)

Thundercatsarego · 17/03/2013 23:13

Hi tins, how are you doing my lovely? Thank you for the info- I don't like the waiting around bit, that's my problem. Hope I respond as quickly as your animals and then I'm back in the game.

Thank you too, mrs, I may well drop you a line. I'm just firing out questions on the thread at the mo.

Hi vocal, so sorry about your mc, but you are very welcome to chat/rant/be scared here. I trust you have familiarised yourself with our Friday system?

Vocalista86 · 17/03/2013 22:30

Hi ladies, new to the boards and time to say hi I think.

I found out at 13 weeks (New year's eve....) I had had a mmc at 7 weeks, then had managed mc which resulted in complications. It was awful but I had so few pregnancy symptoms I can look back and say that deep down I knew something wasn't right. So much so that when they told us at the scan I almost wasn't surprised. Month off work, and now cannot wait for my next BFP. We'd just started to tell everyone our good news too.

On my second cycle of TTC and AF due in 6 days, fingers crossed she never shows up...

I was so naive and thought it would happen straight away last month (as it did for a friend of mine who had had a similar exp.) but no such luck, and was devestated. Did a couple of tests 5/6 days before AF was due which was a waste of money! This month I have been slightly more relaxed about it, only slightly though and do not intend to test until 3/4 days late, so just over a week away now.

Good luck to all the ladies who are waiting to test at the mo.

xx

alyant79 · 17/03/2013 22:04

Gotta question: tomorrow is 5 weeks post medical mc, 1 week post extra erpc. Today my boobs have been really sore - like when I was preggo. Anyone else had that?
What could it be? Think it could be ovulation symptom? I don't really know what those symptoms are except for ewcm.

MrsSpencerReid · 17/03/2013 20:54

Thunder, pm me If you want I've been on most thyroid drugs and had radio active iodine treatment, off to read the rest of the posts!!

Bakingtins · 17/03/2013 20:20

Thunder this is second hand info but a v good friend had an overactive thryoid and had radioactive iodine in order to be able to TTC (the thyroid suppressing drugs are bad for baby) then because that makes you underactive was put on thyroxine. She had to wait a year after the radioactive treatment then each time she was pregnant had to have regular thyroid monitoring because her dose needed adjusting. Once it was sorted she had 2 normal pregnancies Smile
I haven't seen the response about waiting a year, but the thyroid supplement drugs are very safe. When we use them in animals we expect them to be stable within a month of starting treatment!

jmf294 · 17/03/2013 19:53

How many times is too many to do an OPK test?
Hangs head in shame- husband caught me and thinks I am mad-
I am getting a line that is getting darker.

Beans- I don't blame you for wanting the scan- hope all will be ok.

Hope you don't have to wait a year Thunder- who said that, seems a very long time.

alyant79 · 17/03/2013 19:49

beans I thought about doing that last time and wish I had. My empty sac would have been picked up so much earlier.
Still naughty but fully understandable

thunder I don't know what response you got on that other thread but 1 year would totally suck. Perhaps that is worst case scenario?

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 17/03/2013 19:39

eBay. There is NO WAY I would spend that much money, and DP would think I'd lost the plot! He already thinks I'm a bit bonkers! I'm up and down like a roller coaster, and trying to do SMEP! The poor bloke looks like a chewed up rag! I'm trying really hard not to make him think I'm obsessed! obsessed? Moi?

Thundercatsarego · 17/03/2013 19:22

Hmm streaky doesn't sound great tbh. Are they amazon ones? buy a cbdigiOPK!

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 17/03/2013 19:16

No line at all. The tests come up a bit streaky so I wonder if they are just crap.

farmerwife · 17/03/2013 19:15

beans you're not a bad person at all....sometimes the anxiety just gets too much. Now I have lost 4 and one was mmc I get automatic early scans but if not id be lying if i said i woudn't be tempted to do the same as you! Now all I need is the bfp!
