Failed morning after pill?

In a bit of a flap. Took the morning after pill on New Year's Eve (11 hrs after unprotected sex, dumb, dumb, dumb) and followed instructions exactly. I can't remember date of LMP but it was definitely finished before Xmas and I would say I was ovulating around the time we had sex. Still no AF and I just did a test (Acon) and got a very very very faint pink line. Does this mean I'm preg? Sorry to sound so stupid, but I wondered if the pill could have affected hormones and given me a false positive? It's not the end of the world if I am, but it's totally unplanned as the baby is still, well, a baby.

I would like to add that everytime I look at my gorgeous daughter I am delighted the MAP failed!

MAP is like all contraception - fallible. My friend had her third after using emergency contraception. I think that pink line is a positive - the pill doesn't affect pregnancy tests. BTW my friend's third was a lovely girl and a fantastic addition to the two boys. Her mother is very grateful the pill failed though she was pretty shellshocked at the time.

I had a similar situation, took MAP, 5 days after period due took a test and got really very feint pink line. Took another test a few days later and it was much stronger. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.

I thought the MAP could result in problems with baby if you took it more than 4 days after conception (or some time threshold.. probably after the embryo would have implanted?). Meaning, if you take it in the right time window it either works or it doesn't. It doesn't do anything else... am I right?

The morning after pill didn't work for me, and thank God it didn't!!!!! I could have missed out on Lottie, doesn't bear thinking about!

tabitha · 19/01/2004 13:09

The Levonelle website says the pill is 95% effective within 24 hrs. Guess I'm in the lucky 5%. Yikes.

I know someone who got 3rd child after failed Morning After Pill... it does happen.

WideWebWitch · 19/01/2004 13:04

think you prob are preg tbh. faint line is still a line imo.

popsycal · 19/01/2004 13:01

i think the mornng after pill is just a big dose of the normal pill
the preg test looks for the hcG hormone
which is something different
i think

popsycal · 19/01/2004 13:01

What do the instructions say (not familair with this particular test)
Don't think you can get a false negative
and it is possible..happened to a friend of mine
hope you are ok
good luck
