Failed morning after pill?

In a bit of a flap. Took the morning after pill on New Year's Eve (11 hrs after unprotected sex, dumb, dumb, dumb) and followed instructions exactly. I can't remember date of LMP but it was definitely finished before Xmas and I would say I was ovulating around the time we had sex. Still no AF and I just did a test (Acon) and got a very very very faint pink line. Does this mean I'm preg? Sorry to sound so stupid, but I wondered if the pill could have affected hormones and given me a false positive? It's not the end of the world if I am, but it's totally unplanned as the baby is still, well, a baby.

Hi, I Hope I'm not to late in replying, as Not sure how long they keep threads open for...but can I ask, Any of those who fell pregnant after taking the MAP...did you have the bleed that they say you can have on or after the 6th day? As I'm bleeding on the 6th day...And it's hard to say if it's a period as my 3rd baby is only 8 weeks old...So not sure when my first period was due. But just checking if because I'm bleeding on the 6th day, it means I'm safe xx :-D

May be better starting your own thread

Need some insight please.. Last Period May 29, cycle length 28days, Lutheal Phase 14, has unprotected sex on June 10&11th, took postinor few hours after. Don't feel any side effects but uncomfortable lower tummy and back. I already have 3 kids. What is the possibilities for MAP to failed in my case? Because I knew I was already ovulating at the time and thought MAP might still able to work. HELP!

Babygirls, this thread is five years old, perhaps start a new one as it could be confusing when people first click.

Click on conception and then add new thread to topic. Good luck.

Meanbeansmum · 08/07/2009 21:08

Good luck hunni, have a happy and healthy pregnancy. It will all work out, this baby will be a wonderful blessing.

Changed my name for this but my morning after pill failed too. I took it 12 HOURS after 'the event'. It didn't even make me sick but I got pg. Unfortunately, there was no possibility of keeping the baby and I had to terminate and feel as though I pay for it every day.
I'm so glad that this is positive for you!!!!
Many congratulations!!

nutcracker · 21/01/2004 12:14

Sorry forgot to say CONGRATS

SoupDragon · 21/01/2004 11:59

Congratulations, Wilbur

nutcracker · 21/01/2004 11:52

Wish mine would fail.

Jaybee · 21/01/2004 11:40

Agree that there seems to be alot of you who are a member of the 5% failure club although I suppose if it had worked you wouldn't be on Mumsnet would you

celandine · 21/01/2004 11:06

Congrats Wilbur. I too had been thinking I was unexpectedly pregnant but I got my period yesterday. I'm mildy disappointed cos I'd started thinking how nice it would be to have a newborn again, even though ds is only 6 months.

However shocked you are now, I bet, like the other threads say, that in a few years' time you'll look at your child and think 'thank goodness the map failed'

All the best

mears · 21/01/2004 10:53

Please do not worry about you dd - my ds2 was 7 months old when I fell pregnany with ds3. You will cope honestly and so will she. If anything, a baby will be normality for her. Ds2 accapted ds3 immediately. Now ds1 was 2 1/4 yrs old when ds2 was born and his response was entirely different....

codswallop · 21/01/2004 10:46

Congratulations W!!!!!

These things always end up as huge blessing

Well done

Well, I guess I can stop hiding now. Yes, I am the lucky recipient of the failed MAP. Took another test this am and now there is a definite line. You were right, ladies. I'm pretty shellshocked at the timing as it means changing a lot of plans, but that's okay (my MIL won't think so when I tell her we won't be coming on the amazing trip they have planned for their 40th wedding, I feel really bad about that as they are brilliant and are so looking forward to going away with all their kids and grandkids.) My real magging worry is that I feel dd (8 months) is going to be short-changed. I was looking forward to spending more time with her when ds starts doing more hours at nursery in Sept, but now I will have a newborn then and she won't get the extra attention. She hasn't had a very calm and attentive life so far as my dad went into hospital when she was 6 weeks old and died 3 weeks later, and our life since then has been a flurry of organising, admin, solicitors, house selling and so on, not to mention the fact that I have been so sad and missing my father so much. I just feel she hasn't had the best of me at all . I realise it will be lovely later on as hopefully the close age means they will be good friends (fingers crossed), but it feels overwhelming right now.

Then, of course, I feel extra guilty for even thinking this when so many women have trouble getting pregnant. I have good friends in that position currently and I have to say that I am almost ashamed to tell them. Uuuurgh, sorry, I'm a rambly moaning minny this morning.

bon · 19/01/2004 22:05

One of my friends missed a couple of her contraceptive pills so they used condoms for a week or so. One burst so after 24 hours she took the morning after pill..... 8mths later, born 5 weeks early was a baby boy!

He rrrrrrrreally wanted to be born....against all the odds!

I see it's all girls who got through the MAP! A coincidence...?

girlinapanic · 19/01/2004 14:07

Thanks for all the postings. Seems like there's quite a few people in the 5% failure club! I guess I will wait a couple more days and do another test, but it sounds like I am up the duff again. Not quite how I planned it, although we did want a 3rd child one day, but I believe that these things are meant to be, sometimes. Actually getting quite excited about joining the September thread....
