Pregnacare conception vitamins - anyone else had side effects?

Hello!

I've been taking the pregnacare supplements for a while, but this is the first cycle ive taken them everyday. Af is nearly two weeks late but I'm defo not pg. I've been dizzy and nauseous and peeing loads. I've read elsewhere that this can be from the vitamins, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

We are thinking about trying for a baby soon and I’ve started taking Pregnacare conception tablets and take them at night with dinner but then the next day I have horrendous nausea! Has anyone else had this? I suffer with health anxiety but hoping it’s tablet related.

thislittlebird · 07/02/2021 18:59

Yeah I’m on seven seas and my iron was high when I did a home iron test. They load you up with iron, it seems.

Can’t take well woman branded vits because they make me throw up (likely the zinc, but no problem with 7S).

LadyMedea · 28/03/2013 07:10

Sorry iron ... Damn ipad

LadyMedea · 28/03/2013 07:10

Constipation is likely to be from the rn in the vits as it is notorious for that. But.... You definitely need Ron to ake all that new blood hen you are pregnant!

Alohomora · 27/03/2013 19:39

:( I just got my email from Boots to say I can pick up my order in store - including a bottle of primrose oil capsules, some B6 and two boxes of Seven Seas Trying for a Baby! I hope I am spared by the constipation fairy - I just went off Cerazette, still waiting for my first cycle to appear.

Morning all,
I'm new to all this pregnancy/baby stuff...

Took mirena coil out this week and started taking the pregnancy vits (tesco own brand was reasonably priced). Been feeling sick last 2 days and had churning tummy and headaches.
Wondered if it was mirena coming out but had no bleeding or cramps just upper stomach pains with nausea. Thinking now it must be the vits! seems silly that something you take to make you healthier makes you sick Sad

Fairydogmother · 12/02/2013 22:17

Lol I could set up a secret folic acid supply service

rabbitonthemoon · 12/02/2013 20:47

Haven't read whole thread but YES multi vits make me feel shite. The iron in them gives me terrible nausea, especially on an empty stomach. They make my wee a horrible colour, give me rash and heartburn and the runs. I can't take them. I think it is rare to be bothered by them but I have to go on diet. Shock horror, folic acid makes me feel sick too so I am eating the best diet I can and will take folic acid from the day I get a pos pee stick. Two years folic acid seems a bit irrelevant really.

ImpatientOne · 12/02/2013 20:41

That's all right Fairy - post us some over Wink

Fairydogmother · 12/02/2013 19:58

O I forgot we have free prescriptions over here in NI - sorry!

ImpatientOne · 12/02/2013 19:22

I don't think so lexib Sad

I think folic acid works out cheaper over the counter unless you are on free/prepaid prescriptions Confused

lexib · 12/02/2013 14:43

Monetary hijack - so if the cbfm keeps on registering high if it misses ov, is it actually measuring anything?!

Skinnywhippet · 12/02/2013 14:39

Really? But I have to pay £7 per prescription as I am not exempt from prescription charges. Is it free even if you are not pregnant, just preparing to conceive? I'd rather have it free.

Fairydogmother · 12/02/2013 14:05

you can get folic acid free from the gp on prescription

Skinnywhippet · 12/02/2013 14:01

Back to tablets. I am now going to order some plain folic acid. The iron in my centrum ones is affecting my body too much : (

ImpatientOne · 11/02/2013 22:31

Hi setay

Sorry for our hijack Blush

I got highs on my CBFM from about day 12 then ov twice around 17/18. When it misses ov you just carry on getting highs until AF. Mine always asked for 20 sticks despite quite short cycles. One of my very few peaks was the day AF started one month which could be why it's gathering dust now Grin

setayharas · 11/02/2013 22:17

Came on here to read up on vits and have oi web sidetracked by the cbfm. It's my first month using it and I don't normally ov until cd 18 on cd13 at the moment and getting a high on cbfm. But I'm gettin ewcm so already I dunno of I believe the bloody £70 monitor.

So it missed your ov? Maybe I'll listen to my body rather than that!

ImpatientOne · 11/02/2013 22:09

Hope you don't need one Wink

Soph80 · 11/02/2013 21:07

Me too, maybe thats my prob?! Right getting a thermometer for next cycle...unless I don't need to wishful thinking

ImpatientOne · 11/02/2013 21:01

No, married in 2009 but did that smug thing of waiting! Hmm

We really struggle with every other day and general timing issues - I was in a hotel 300 miles away when I ov'd last month!

I don't think any sticks will work for me as I drink a lot, pints and pints of water and juice! I think I dilute myself too much Blush

Soph80 · 11/02/2013 20:40

We've been going since July 2011 too, is that when you got married by any chance? We tried the cbfm for about 3 months too but I got sick of it when it missed ovulation a few months. We've consistently used OPKs but I switched to the digital (annoyingly more expensive) ones this month and think I may have missed it again. Have still DTD every other day fortunately just not sure when to stop (DH will get sick of it soon lol)

ImpatientOne · 11/02/2013 20:27

Been ttc since July 2011 - about 21 cycles. I've done opks, Clear blue fertility monitor and bbt. Never really got anywhere with opks, only when I dehydrated myself in the middle of the day, which is why I tried the CBFM! I did bbt for about 3 months but found it very difficult to be consistent with it.

I seem to ov around day 16-18 and do get EWCM so that's why I've given up pretty much all of the other monitoring! My cycles vary from 25-31 days but I get spotting from as early as day 23 Sad My max luteal phase has been 12 days I think but the spotting does concern me - I discussed this with the fertility consultant and he said it was no problem. All of my blood tests (day 2 and 21) are fine and show - as far as then can - normal ovulation.

I did buy some B6 vitamins but have never plucked up the courage to take them as so many on the conception vits have made me feel crappy!

Ask away Soph as you can see I don't have much trouble talking about myself Blush

Soph80 · 11/02/2013 20:08

Impatientone: Oh wow, think I'd rather save my money for a nice hol or maybe even IVF at some point!Have you tried doing the BBT? I think I will start next month as don't seem to be getting anywhere with the OPKs.

How long is your luteal phase and how long have you been ttc for, if you don't mind me asking?

ImpatientOne · 11/02/2013 20:00

DuoFertility - the lazy girl way of doing bbt as you wear a sensor all the time and some boffin in an office monitors it for you Grin

It's £500 but they have a money back guarantee if no bfp in a year.

I really can't make up my mind and keep putting it off for 'next month' I am convinced I have a short luteal phase and our fertility consultant has basically said if not up-duffed by July he'll refer for IVF - I'm running out of options!!
