Put on your vest/shades and grab your weapons, it's Action Hero Time.

The BESH are experts in all matters action, but specialise in taking out the local droids and sometimes Druids Wink

Cover me, I'm going in!

Thanks for the wisdom, sympathy and hair strokes luffly BESH. I feel better today but did have to take out Facebook with a big fat nuke this morning as it was an endless stream of happy baby photos. Gah.

Rie not insensitive at all - I was glad that someone shared my bathos.

Bugs still fx for you, I've got my crosshairs trained on all droids and bfns.

BE has THE most annoying cough - I live in fear of him catching one as it goes on all night and ends up with neither of us getting any sleep and him coughing til he makes himself sick. Like a child. I would def vote for action hero smack down response. Swat teams, the lot.

Northey · 09/02/2013 11:57

No, shoot him. May as well, while we've got the action hero guns and everything. And then I can shoot AMNH for his irritating loud yawning.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 09/02/2013 11:44

I also think SSG & I are generally 'lucky' though

At the risk of sounding irritatingly negative, I am one of those UNlucky people. Things generally don't work out. And there's no way I can have three rounds of IVF. We get one on the NHS so I'll have to just hope and do all I can. I have the IUI first however. The nurse said that's their chance to see how best you respond to different levels of drugs. Or something

Anyway I'll stop now.

Sorry to hear about the hangover :(

And Moll, how are you feeling today. Sorry if I sounded flippant when you first said about the holding the baby yesterday Blush. It was insensitive.

AIBU to shoot MrA for doing these irritating shouty coughs?

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 09/02/2013 11:20

Ready to run in and kick that droid, if it makes an appearance draf.

maamalady · 09/02/2013 11:11

Norf is like a wise old oracle.

(recognise the film?)

Temp today has dropped back to plateau with temps from a couple of days ago, so looks like yesterday was just a blip. I'm feeling easily tearful and a bit achey so droid is probably not far away.

Of course, this means that I will be at the height of embittered hormonal weakness when we hear about my friend's newborn - its been long enough since her induction date that I'm starting to get worried about hearing no news. Would it be bad form and massively pestery to text her? There's so many posts in AIBU about annoying friends asking if people have given birth and I don't want to be tht person...

Oh, and we did watch an action film yesterday - it turns out that, despite the dreadful title, Looper is a really good film. I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis :)

JethroTull · 09/02/2013 10:48

Wise words Norf.

I am good thanks Bugs, had a good nights sleep which always puts me in a good mood plus SSG got up & took the dog out.

Northey · 09/02/2013 10:21

You old lush, lemon.

Good idea to step away from the tests, bugs. Though don't beat yourself up if you crack and test again tomorrow. If you're diffed you're diffed. If you're not you're not. The important thing now is to do what you need to do to keep your head in a good, calm place.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 09/02/2013 10:03

Hurrah about starting IUI and the Allergy Man - he's my new action hero. Keeping stuff crossed. Sorry about the fb-moment, but am sure it is okay.

Hair strokes for moll, that sounds pretty awful. People should respect some boundaries with their babes. I know the piercing feeling well, like faif we had nephews staying, it was wonderful, but seeing SB reading to them did hurt quite a bit.

On other news I got pissed last night and are feeling really rough!

I am mentally preparing for three cycles, pollyannatull. Then if this one works it is just a nice bonus. And if it doesn't I am buying that nice horse of frankel's

JethroTull · 09/02/2013 07:38

The stats are per client per year. Which means that a client could be represented once or multiple times. The consultant I saw said that most couples would be successful within 3 attempts. I started the whole AC process hoping it would work whilst understanding that it probably wouldn't first time. I also think SSG & I are generally 'lucky' though. And I can be irritatingly positive so I will shut up now.

Northey · 09/02/2013 07:10

I also fear the statistics are going to go against me.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/02/2013 22:51

If you do end up with them evil I can tell you which nurses to look out for. To be fair, they've all been lovely, but two have been extremely good to me.

OP posts:
ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:51

And apart from Jeffers who was private.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:50

They were all first attempts apart from BarbiesBeaver (second). And I don't know anyone who has been able to pay for IVF apart from my SIL and BIL (twinz on first attempt), and the NHS only pays for one anyway. The BESH have all had wins.

maamalady · 08/02/2013 22:48

I am also dubious about figures. Also last time we were in Addenbrooke's we could hardly move for CambridgeIVF adverts, which was rather like being kicked while we were down. They are so new their stats are pretty meaningless too, as they've just not had the same numbers of patients as other clinics. Not that I'm trying to rain on the parade, Frank, but that's likely going to end up being our clinic too so I've spent a good deal of time noseying at their website.

Gorgeous foaly :)

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/02/2013 22:47

How many were first time lucky though? Are the stats per attempt rather than per couple? That would make a difference to your perspective..

EuroShagmore · 08/02/2013 22:44

Love the mini frankel!

Rie I know what you mean. Both of my closest friends have had IVF successes. I can't help feeling that I am going to be the unlucky one. But I think we know by now that I am a pessimist.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:32

Oh the horsies!!!!11!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:32

IVF/IUI stats worry me, in a resigned sort of way. Every couple bar one I know who have had AC since I started TTC have succeeded in it working. The more successes there are, the more likely I am to fail, or the statistics lie. Especially given my age.

Sorry, but that's how I see it.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/02/2013 22:11

I completely forgot to share these with you:

Frankel, taken yesterday (not by me)

Frankel's baby brother, born last Saturday

Ckonic = clinic

OP posts:
FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/02/2013 22:03

This is my ckonic, they say they have a 60% success rate for IVF in the under 35s. The national average for the same age group is 40%.

OP posts:
JethroTull · 08/02/2013 21:43

National average for IVF is only just over 20%

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/02/2013 20:53

Hmm, not the best, but better than 0%....
