Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

Hi there, how's everyone getting on? Just had a BFN, does it hurt so much every time? I suppose my feeling like crap is still the stupid pill withdrawal :( annoying to feel so poorly for nothing!

Ern1 · 17/06/2013 23:16

Can I join please?
I'm 31, TTC for my 1st but will be partners 4th. I've been in the pill for 16years solid with no break. So with my age and the pill I've been a but worried that it'll take a long time!
However I'm being positive, my period came back the first month off, this is my third month and I think I can feel ovulation pains!! My app says I should be ovulating tomorrow so hope that's what the pain is!
Thinking about using the sticks, are they good?
Good luck ladies :) xxx

Hi ladies, I hope things are going well for you all. I'm now on the two week wait (as long as my cycle is behaving) although I'm not entirely convinced that I've ovulated as I've not noticed any of the usual symptoms. I've been on antibiotics so I wondered whether this would have any effect? Perhaps my body is just throwing a long cycle into the mix to annoy me Hmm

Doc knows I'm TTC so was cautious with prescribing the antibiotics. He also told me that I am to behave as if I am pregnant when using / avoiding certain things (not in the recent advice 'avoid everything and lock yourself in a padded room' sort of way - just in a sensible 'don't do anything daft' sort of way) which means I'm officially off cat litter duty! Yay! Smile

Gingerandcocoa · 15/06/2013 21:41

Just wanted to see if I could join you Smile!

DH and I decided to stop TNTC this month, I am actually hoping it will take a few months because of work but I'm well aware I can't decide the exact date Grin!

blueamber · 15/06/2013 20:29

those are positive signs! Smile

emdottyjackson · 15/06/2013 15:17

Thanks for the reply, funnily enough I've had cramping in one side today & without meaning to be tmi, something has come out that I've never had before & by googling I think it means I'm ovulating or about too! So ill count 2 weeks from now I guess, just been so used to popping a pill & not thinking about anything down there, which is great...till you want a baby! Thanks and best wishes

blueamber · 15/06/2013 10:00

It really differs a lot when your cycle reestablishes itself. For some people they have their AF about a month after stopping the pill, for others, including me, it takes longer. I read somewhere if you took multiple strips in a row, it might take longer.

I guess just test 28 days after first day of withdrawal bleed, even though it might not be accurate it's all you have! Then perhaps test every week? Unless you have been able to identify time of ovulation, it would be two weeks after that.

emdottyjackson · 15/06/2013 09:03

Hi, can anyone give me some advice, I'm very new to this! I stopped my bcp on the 28th May, mid pack, bit foolish but there you go, had a withdrawal bleed for a couple of days immediately after, dh & I have been at it all month! I'm just wondering do I count back from the date of my last day of bleed 28 days to find out when my next period would likely have come, I know it might not turn up for months but since I've had a few early pg symptoms, I don't know if I ought to test anyway? I'm pretty sure the symptoms are pill withdrawal, but I'm still hopeful! Lol Grin

blueamber · 09/06/2013 22:00

tea addict congratulations! Hope all goes well with your pregnancy and PhD!

Fox82 · 09/06/2013 21:50

It's a nightmare isn't it! Tends to be friends and work colleagues with me rather than family. People were even asking us on the actual wedding day! Lol!

misseskimo · 09/06/2013 21:17

Hi Fox! I know! My parents aren't too bad, but my in-laws are a nightmare! everytime we see them their making comments about when we're going to give them grandchildren! I wouldn't mind so much, but they already have two from hubby's sister, whereas my parents don't have any!
And it seems that the worlds mocking you by letting everyone else around you fall pregnant seemingly easily! Haha

Fox82 · 09/06/2013 20:37

Hi Eskimo! I'm confused by all the abbreviations too, and we're trying to conceive our 1st as well. It sounds like we're going through the same things - everyone around me seems to be pregnant or have just had a baby! We got married in Jan and it doesn't help that since then I'm asked at least once a day when we're going to have a baby!!

misseskimo · 09/06/2013 20:29

Hi All, I'm the same, TTC atm, I'm 26 and husband is 28, married in 2011, and like alot of others, we naively thought we'd be able to conceive pretty quickly... 2yrs later and nothing yet! It's a little disheartening, particularly when very young extended-family members of ours have recently got pregnant/had children "by accident" - You know how it goes, and yet we're happily married and secure, and actively trying, but nothings happening!

I too am confused with all of the abbreviations, my sister is a regular on here and everytime I speak to her it's more slang and abbreviations, and it just put me off joining the forums as it was a little intimidating tbh!

But hoping to find some like-minded people now to help keep me motivated to try! :)

CooperCat · 09/06/2013 18:45

That's fantastic news Tea! Congratulations!Grin

TeaAddict235 · 09/06/2013 17:56

I had a lot of night time nausea when I stopped the pill which had me very confused and worried. I was convinced there must be something wrong. Since cycles have been more normal I'm trying to pick up on the usual monthly changes and record everything on my phone app but its difficult to always record things without feeling like a complete hypochondriac! Every twinge / pain / slight change MUST mean something! Confused Very frustrating to say the least! I guess it just takes time for things to readjust to non-hormonal intervention. I'm now CD8 so according to my app should be getting to the important stage in the next few days - then it's just the awful wait again for AF to decide whether to show up! Good luck with the PhD - you're braver than me! Smile

blueamber · 05/06/2013 12:20

Another thing that is making me more anxious is that two weeks after stopping the pill I started getting pains around my right ovary. At first I thought it was ovulation, but the OPK said no. The pain has been there on and off since. I read it can be a side effect from stopping the pill, but obviously it's just making me think there might be something wrong.

Anyway, time to distract myself! Just wish I had something good to distract myself with instead of this awful PhD I'm trying to finish.

blueamber · 05/06/2013 12:14

Definitely helpful! 54 days to wait for AF must have been really difficult...
I was taking the lightest Loestrin and had a withdrawal bleed a few days after stopping, but nothing since. I just have to be patient and distract myself I suppose, but I can't help thinking about it and trying to figure it out.

CooperCat · 05/06/2013 11:48

Blueamber - just to give you an idea what happened when I stopped taking the pill... I was told by Dr to come off it on 1 Nov 2012 for medical reasons. I had no intention of conceiving straight away but knew it would be on the cards in the coming months so declined any further hormonal contraception (which the doc seemed horrified at!). It took 5 weeks for AF to come despite having finished at the end of a pill pack so was expecting the usual breakthrough bleed at least. Cycles have since been 30/54/31/28/30 so a little bit messed up but settling now. The 54 day cycle freaked me out!! I had been on Yasmin for quite a few years as well as several others over time so my body hasn't really had a break or a chance to find its natural rhythm for around 15 years or so (almost since puberty to be honest). I'm sure your body will settle down in time. Probably not massively helpful but I just thought I'd share my experience. Keep your chin up!

DisneyDiva87 · 05/06/2013 11:05

blue it was about 5 weeks after coming off the pill (the dreaded cerazette!) before I got my first AF - still not sure if it was withdrawal or AF proper. Keep thinking positive thoughts. I know what you mean about stressing, I really want to buy the fertility monitor but keep telling myself that it's too soon and should wait till cycle 6 before investing. I'm trying to be relaxed about it but TTC is driving me crazy!

blueamber · 05/06/2013 09:52

Thanks, nessalina. It does help to hear other people's experiences. I shouldn't panic, it's only 5 weeks ago when I stopped the pill, so it's early days. It's just that I don't handle the unknown well.

I can imagine you didn't want AF on your wedding day! I didn't know you could take something other than the pill to regulate your cycle. I suppose it might have changed that and the next cycle a bit, but hopefully you'll be back to normal this cycle. I think dtd every other day for the next few weeks is really the way forward Smile

Nessalina · 04/06/2013 22:00

Poor you Blue Sad Who knew how frustrated you could get by your own body til you start TTC!!
If its any help, one of my best friends came off the pill after a good 6-7yrs on it and got pregnant first cycle round. She was overdue AF and took a test, got a BFN and then went away thinking definitely not, didn't get a BFP til another week had gone by!
Yeah, I think I've spotted EWCM but it's not been at the same time in my last 2 cycles.
I used to be a regular as clockwork 28 day cycle, but I was due my AF on my wedding day, so asked the doc about delaying it and he prescribed Noresthiserone which you take from a week before until you are ok to come on. So after the wedding I stopped, but it was a whole week til I came on. So I'm happily honeymooning and DTD (and not just when I should be OV! Grin) but was surprised to spot EWCM a good week after I expected (when back at work & v.little action) but seemed so off cycle that assumed I was imagining it. I was 8 days late on my AF and was SO excited, practically picking out names despite BFN on tests. Guess the drug knocked my cycle out for a week. Then next cycle was only 23 days and didn't see any EWCM, so think we were probably going too late maybe?
Aaanyway. This month it's been all go from C6 to make sure we at least hit OV whenever the heck it is this month!!
Anyway, sorry for the whole life story there, I guess I'm just totally with you in sharing the frustration of the great unknown Sad Hope you get clarity soon!!
