Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

Well I'm getting cramps today, not bad ones just slightly so I think this month is probably a no. Can't say I'm not gutted!

Madratlady · 08/03/2013 17:47

Terrible period pains. No sign of AF but expecting it tonight. I'm relieved to be honest because even though I didn't conceive this cycle we'll be able to try again next cycle.

Saw the doctor today about the pain during sex (lovely doc, we had a nice chat while she was peering up my lady bits). I have to have a sexual health screen and then she's going to refer me for an ultrasound of my abdomen, I can't remember exactly what that is to check for. She also said that I have quite a low cervix which points backwards slightly, so I wonder if DH is knocking it when we DTD. Is having a cervix that points backwards likely to cause any problems conceiving?

Bartlet4America · 08/03/2013 16:44

Thanks wakey, I just hate how badly I want it!! I guess we'll all know next week. I'm really hoping at least one of us gets a BFP!

PistachioTruffle · 08/03/2013 16:15

BBT thermometer arrived today so I can begin charting properly tomorrow Grin I've also got some robitussin that I might try to increase EWCM, haven't decided wether to go ahead with it yet though.

WakeyCakey · 08/03/2013 15:36

Fingers crossed for you too bartlet there is still time this month!
Although I am symptom spotting I don't think I am actually feeling any different! Not a good sign but I still have hope for Tuesday

Bartlet4America · 08/03/2013 13:20

theslug yay! exciting times!! Hopefully you'll get lucky and conceive in the 1st month!! Fingers crossed for you.

I'm due on Monday (cd37 I think) but my periods are all over the place so who knows. I did a test this morning (Superdrug early detection one) and it was a BFN but I kind of expected it tbh! Not really had any symptoms lately either, so perhaps this just isn't going to be my month... That's fine though, I guess I'll know for sure by the end of next week. Fingers crossed for everyone else!!

TheSlug · 08/03/2013 09:48

TTC officially started last night! woohoo...!!

SarahMargaret · 08/03/2013 09:06

I hop both 123234345 and barkingtreefrog are both right :) I will take another opk before I leave for work and your right I will be jumping on him asap tonight, without being gross and I hope this isnt tmi, but I still have mucus today so I'm hoping thats a positive sign :) I had tried the basal therm before trying opks but my temperature varied most mornings anyway. Good luck to you both :)

barkingtreefrog · 08/03/2013 07:22

Sarah I'm swapping from cbfm to opks so I've been doing both this cycle to compare them. I had a high yesterday on the cbfm and just got a peak cbfm this morning, judging on last cycle I'd expect another peak tomorrow morning and to ovulate tomorrow or the day after. I had a strong positive opk yesterday, which in my estimates was two days before I ovulate, so I'm expecting another positive today.
In conclusion, I'd POAS again today and hope it's still positive!!

123234345 · 07/03/2013 23:53

SarahMargaret - from the top of my head I think that ovulation tests give a positive result about a day before ovulation, and you can still conceive the day after ovulation, so if that's correct then it'll be worth jumping on him when he walks through the door. Having had sex within the last week will also give you a chance. This is very non-expert knowledge, though! I really don't know how accurate this information is, or how accurate ovulation tests are.

WakeyCakey · 07/03/2013 20:10

I'm just getting silly impatient now. Am thinking if I get a BFN I may cool it off a bit and just start DTD as much as possible and see what happens. If I didn't know my ovulation I don't think I'd be this impatient!

Juhannus · 07/03/2013 19:29

WakeyCakey

I've downloaded My Cycles, I like it it's intuitive and easy to use and it's pink :) Like yours the home screen keeps you updated on AF. There's the opportunity to add lots of data just pressing on a date on the calender.

I'm still nervous which is silly I know :/

SarahMargaret · 07/03/2013 11:39

Gutted OPK gave a positive result this morning, but hubby isn't going to be home until around 9 tomorrow night does anyone know how long after positive OPK ovulation actually happen or for how long afterwards could conception happen? I hope we haven't missed another month x

Bartlet4America · 07/03/2013 10:54

pistachio am def going to order that then. My shortest ever cycle was last month and 38 days or something, so I just ignore most ovulation calendars as they kindly tell me "the dates you entered indicate you're not ovulating" THANKS! ha

Bartlet4America · 07/03/2013 10:52

madratlady I'm with you on the erratic cycles. I hope AF or BFP turns up for you soon. I may try ovulation sticks next month if this isn't my month (which I suspect it isn't)

123 fx this is your month!! Exciting stuff!!

PistachioTruffle · 07/03/2013 10:50

The Taking Charge book seems really good, easy to follow and dip back into if you need to (I just skipped the section on using it for contraceptive purposes!). Unfortunately the thermometer I ordered hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't been able to start with temperatures yet. I used the Mydays app, free and really easy to use and record different signs. I do ignore the ovulation calendar on there though as they just seem to be based on average 28 day cycles, as mine is 36ish.

123234345 · 07/03/2013 10:00

Madratlady - you're in the most difficult time, waiting for a late period. Hope it (or a bfp) arrives very soon. I've been using cheapie ovulation tests from the internet and they're pretty easy to use - you just wee into a cup, dip the test in for 10 seconds and wait for 5 minutes.

I'm on day 28 now. My nipples are feeling sensitive which hasn't happened before so I really am wondering whether this will be my month. I've not told my husband though as I want to at least have a late period to back up my suspicions. Now I need to decide when to test: my last two periods were 25 and 44 days, but the ovulation stick only tested positive a week ago so I think it'll be best to wait until day 35 before testing. I know you will all help me to stay strong for the next week!

Madratlady · 06/03/2013 23:42

If my periods carry on being this erratic I may have to try those ovulation stick thingys. Are they easy to use?

Madratlady · 06/03/2013 23:41

Still waiting for AF, now on CD42. Been feeling a bit like AF is going to arrive for a couple of days but no sign yet. Since I'm definitely not pregnant I just want this cycle to end so we can try again next cycle!

barkingtreefrog · 06/03/2013 23:20

I use fertility friend (the free one) and because I'm sad and have to back everything up even though they have their own backups, I also use woman log. I'm on android. FF lets you log opks as well as temps and loads of other stuff.

WakeyCakey · 06/03/2013 21:49

Juhannas I like the one I use as on the home screen it tells you how many days until AF and if you pass it how many days late you are.
It just gives me somewhere to track everything down to moods, symptoms and everything I need.
It's just about finding one that suits you and you can turn to

Juhannus · 06/03/2013 21:45

Thanks WakeyCakey

I will have a look, I have an android phone. I will look for My Cycle and noticed My days has lots of good reviews too :)

WakeyCakey · 06/03/2013 21:44

Unfortunately my imagination is running away with me. Planned my birth before the BFP, that's never a good idea haha

Bartlet4America · 06/03/2013 21:33

Haha I'm watching it too!! Don't do it!! Hold out for a little longer!!

WakeyCakey · 06/03/2013 21:33

Watching one born every minute alone with preg tests upstairs is driving me mad!!!
