Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

thank you!! good to know :)

IamKuma · 15/03/2013 15:08

I don't think having the odd drink is a problem during the 2ww. As implantation is around 10 dpo I can't see much chance of the alcohol having any influence on the egg as it would not have any link with your bloodstream. (disclaimer - this is not based on any scientific information just IMHO Wink!)

roofio87 · 15/03/2013 15:06

just popping back in, interestingly I asked my midwife about drinking before you know you're pregnant, she said that many women do it and she's never known it cause a problem, in those first few weeks before you get ur bfp your little poppy seed sized bean hasn't formed its placenta yet and isn't getting any nutrients (or alcohol) from you until about 5 weeks. so while u wouldn't if u knew for sure and should stop as soon as u find out it won't course harm if you do!! hope that helps!!xx

sairwa99 · 15/03/2013 14:58

Slug_ I drank on holiday, I was sat drinking the all inclusive cocktails googling ' what if I drink before finding out im pregnant' there were lots of stories that reassured me it was fine. I hardly ever drink so not really an issue for me but while away I enjoyed a couple gin fizz's! Enjoy ur wine!Grin

TheSlug · 15/03/2013 14:21

Hi all, can i just ask a quick question? Does anyone refrain from drinking on the 2ww? I'm not quite there yet, I am due to ovulate on Sunday, just wondering. I only drink very little anyway, a glass of wine at the weekend. thanks xx

sairwa99 · 15/03/2013 13:10

Hi Holly. Sorry to hear you are in pain, I get either bad cramping or a 3 day headache! It sucks doesnt it, but at least it means everything is working and its all part of the baby making process, without AF there would be nothing to fertilise! Hard to be positive when it hurts I know! Im stuck at work, AF is gone but headache is lingering! At least its friday!
Are you using any online or phone app calendar to work out when you are ovulating?

Holly1977 · 15/03/2013 06:55

Hi, 1st time poster. Lying in bed now, af (or sfp, stupid fuc**ng period) has just arrived :-(

been trying since August last year. Dtd every other day for 7 days starting at day 14 on doctor's orders. Can I get other people's points of view on when and how often we should be doing it? keep reading different things. Sfp always comes every 28-31 days. And really fu**cking hurts so as well as being bitterly disappointed, I'm in agony.

And feeling very sorry for myself. Almost everyone I know is pregnant or has kids. And they all caught on quickly. I'm 35, oh is 34. Really hope it happens soon. Before I totally lose the plot or send my poor oh crazy!

WakeyCakey · 14/03/2013 11:29

AF is gone so starting opk's again tomorrow. Going to try to DTD a lot more this month! The su. Us out and I'm in a much better mood!

sairwa99 · 14/03/2013 11:08

Lozcat_ congrats, fab news!

Bartlet_ keep trying! The bfp will arrive soon!

Smoked_ hi its nice to get out of the stalking shadows isnt it! Ha! This thread is good, its lovely having other people in the same boat!

AF is almost gone, cant wait to get trying, and be on the 2ww! It will be my 1st official 2ww! Grin

SmokedRavioli · 13/03/2013 21:32

Hi all, can I join? I've been stalking following MN for a while.
DH & I are 28, and will hopefully start our ttc journey from next month.
DH works away a lot so time together is fairly limited. Added to that I suffer from PCOS & I'm pretty sure Endo too, although that is undiagnosed.
I'll start folic acid ASAP. Exciting times Grin

Lozcat86 · 13/03/2013 17:23

thank you everyone! so so happy and excited right now... Im feeling a few twinges here and there and had some back ache yesterday also quite nauseus around 5/6 pm the last couple of days, and you know what? I love it! Im so glad to be having 'pregnant' things happening! xxx

Bartlet4America · 13/03/2013 17:21

Getting sick of seeing BFNs now! Still no period :( am carrying on DTD regardless, I figure if my body is as crazy as this, then I may just DTD all month round!!

good luck gilly, hope it goes quickly for you and that you get a BFP!

gilly86 · 13/03/2013 17:06

Congrats lozcat! So happy for you and hope we all get the same BFP soon!!! I've just crossed the line and officially in the 2 week wait!

Hoping this is my month! XSmile

serendippidy · 12/03/2013 22:14

Hi All,
First time on here - swore I wouldn't get too sucked into the whole TTC thing but can't help it (DH would be horrified!)! First timer - me & hubby both 28. Came off the pill on New Year's Eve and not had AF yet...! Started TTC just over a week ago, a day or two after CM suggested I might be ovulating... no real idea though!

I know I shouldn't be, as have only just started but SUPER impatient to use HPT - problem is, I have no idea when AF should be, so don't know when to test. HPTs seem ridiculously expensive, so don't want to waste one unless there's a real chance, so holding out til the end of the week at least...

A bit nervous about the whole thing due to family history of problems. My aunt never conceived and ultimately adopted. My mom had no problem conceiving but had 4 MCs and another baby that only lived a few hours... no idea if those sorts of problems are hereditary or not. Trying not to think about it too much as stress is THE biggest inhibitor of getting pregnant!

Fingers crossed anyway...! Smile

Lozcat86 · 12/03/2013 21:10

Hi Ladies,
I posted awhile ago, we've been trying for a baby for around 18months with no luck.
I was due my period last tuesday - 5th March, i did a test on the thurday which was negative. Felt a little out of the ordinary as i wasnt getting any of my usual 'period' issues so instead of getting sore boobs they just felt heavy, i wasnt having period pains or anything etc. Every day since then i cross my fingers when i go to the loo. Yesterday i started feeling a bit sick in the afternoon and had a slight metallic taste and i was convinced i was imaginging it. I bought a clear blue test this time and tested last night....and got a faint positive. Tested again this morning and got a very definite positive! I can't believe its finally happened. Now im allowing myself to feel all the things i was trying to convince myself werent really happening.
I think im around 4-5 weeks.
so so excited! Hope this gives others who have been trying for a long time some hope.
xxx

SloeGinFizz · 12/03/2013 20:36

Hi ladies!

I originally joined Mumsnet last year thinking we were going to start trying in December. In the end we decided to wait until now to try sooo now i'm excited!

I stopped taking the pill in Sept 2011 and it's only now that i've had 3 'normal' periods in a row. How crazy that it takes that long to get back to normal!

I'm going to start taking folic acid tomorrow and am looking forward to getting started with TTC number 1! I'm 27 and my DH is 38 - bit of a gap but it works for us!

Looking forward to seeing lots of positive news from you lovely ladies! x

WakeyCakey · 12/03/2013 18:45

I've just been out and bought some folic acid, I didn't think about it at all but I guess it can't hurt!
Waiting for AF to disappear so I can get back on it, stocked back up on opk's so I'm ready to go!

ticktock1979 · 12/03/2013 17:47

Hello all! Welcome newbies!

I've been taking folic acid since stopping taking the pill. SiL who is very pregnant also bought me some of the pregnacare multivitamins to take after the illusive BFP & first few months of pregnancy.

I've read back through some of my posts & must apologise ladies for my persistent pessimism Smile In RL I am very chirpy!! Grin but I guess TTC makes us all a little crazy!!

Loving the support this thread offers xx

Blondie276 · 12/03/2013 17:33

Afternoon all!

I'm also taking folic acid whilst ttc- they say that you should before due to chance of falling pregnant and the spine being one of first developments of embryo. It also takes a few months for levels to be right after the pill. My other half also takes it daily as it is good for production of healthy sperm!
I'm
Also taking zinc ( for cell divisions ie foetus and growth) and magnesium as apparently deficiency is linked infertitlity and mc ( all according to my book!) as well as multi vitamin

Hope that helps!

I think I O'd on sun or mon so after dtd for the last 6 days in a row ( how I don't know!) I'm now on the 2ww. Not sure how I feel really but appear calm and not obsessing too much about it (yet).

Hope your all having a good day
