9 days late for AF but 2 x BFN. Anyone else been through this?

I am now 9 days late but have no BFP Sad
I did a pg test early morning on 3rd Jan = BFN. I then did a second pg rest after work on 4th = BFN. Both tests were 'first response - 6 days earlier'.
I'm now very confused and worried. Really thought I was pg but now not so sure.
I have no AF symptoms either. Very tired and struggling to concentrate, bloated stomach, occasional cramping and have been peeing quite a bit. Have felt a teensy bit queasy occasionally but why the BFN?
Has anyone been through this and got a BFP eventually?

I have a theory. With first morning wee, it's more concentrate and that's why you have a better result. So if I don't drink much (which isn't a surprise) hopefully it be a better result? Bcos it's using more 'bodily' fluid??

purplefairies · 11/01/2013 11:27

I think it's also because the 99% assumes you have regular cycles and know exactly when you ovulated. If you can't be sure when you ovulated then I suppose you can't really be sure when your AF is really due (applies in my case anyway)

True! But I didn't realise it was quite so common to test negatively at first before a positive test.

PurplePoppySeed · 11/01/2013 11:04

Thanks everyone, I'm on day 37 now which is 10 days late, but I've had symptoms since about 28th dec and been sure I was preg since NYE! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on here waiting and if I get a chance later tonight I'll try as update those stats as it is nice to know who's where.

FamiliesShareGerms · 11/01/2013 10:43

Well, I guess they can be 99.999% accurate if I am one of the 0.001%!!

123234345 · 11/01/2013 10:39

So when the tests say that they are over 99% accurate, it's a load of rubbish (at least in the case of a negative result)? Why don't they say that in the leaflet? Thanks for sharing FamiliesShareGerms. Massive congratulations Girraferama and Purple!

FamiliesShareGerms · 11/01/2013 10:24

I had two -ve tests when I was pregnant with DS. I went to the doctor because I had all the normal pg symptoms (queasy, sore boobs etc) and she simply shrugged off the test results and said if you have all the symptoms then you are pregnant. I took a test just before my 12 week scan because, although by then I was starting swell a bit, I was still worried that I'd get in there and it would all be a false alarm, and that was the first positive test I had.

JellyBeanDavey · 11/01/2013 10:18

Yay! Congrats!! I'm losing track of all these BFPs! Lol I'm past the record of 42dats for a cycle. I'm now 43days lol going to get an Asda one tonight when I take mum shopping. I'm gona do it tomorrow and not on my bday Sunday cos if its still a bfn I don't wana feel disappointed all day.

purplefairies · 11/01/2013 09:57

Hurrah for Girraferama, that is fabulous!! Definitely gives us all hope!

Girraferama · 11/01/2013 09:55

Morning all, I've now done 3 cheapie tests and went out to get a first response this morning to confirm - definite BFP!!

Congrats too purple - looks like we've started a trend and hopefully a lucky thread!! I was cd52 on first positive and I had tested as recently as a week ago, so don't give up ladies - it's not over until Aunt Flo sings!!

purplefairies · 11/01/2013 09:32

No offence taken, JellyBean :)

JellyBeanDavey · 11/01/2013 08:44

Oh! I feel really sorry for my dp, he gets really tired but I don't let him go haha sorry if I offended anyone, I speak before I think.

purplefairies · 11/01/2013 08:34

PurplePoppySeed - that is fabulous news, congratulations!!! Just goes to show there really is still hope!

Day 45 for me now....won't test until the start of next week. I think that would be my last chance.

"I keep reading about people DTD like as little as once a fortnight. I am so shocked! I couldn't survive on that, trying or no trying."

JellyBean, that's me, too. DH works away a lot on business and even when he's here, we both work really long hours with long commutes so are generally exhausted by the evening and can't wait to sleep more than anything else. Sad but true Blush

Leo16, DH is away on business this week so no DTD for us anyway. To be honest I normally get really clear OV symptoms - prounounced pain and changes in CM (usually followed by AF exactly 14 days later), so I think I'd know if I were ovulating. At the moment I feel nothing at all. It's like a total non-cycle.

123234345 · 11/01/2013 08:22

Brilliant Purple! Congratulations!

Update: day 42 and still no period. I have resisted the temptation to test today and will test tomorrow morning.

JellyBeanDavey · 11/01/2013 08:12

Yay!! That's amazing news purple!! How late again were you?

PurplePoppySeed · 11/01/2013 07:54

Good plan, keep going for it Leo Grin

I got a darker line today, I think I might actually believe it now!!! Yey

leo16 · 11/01/2013 06:53

Fab news Girrafarama and PurplePoppySeed about the faint lines, hope they continue getting darker!

Cheap ones arrived and still BFN. Going to re-test when 2 weeks overdue and maybe book dr after if still negative.

What's those that are still waiting doing about ttc? We are still trying but now have no idea when ovulation will be.

JellyBeanDavey · 10/01/2013 23:10

So summary of today: no AF!! And with all these hopeful faint lines, I'm feeling the hope Smile lets get some BFPs and make this the 2 line bus!!

PurplePoppySeed · 10/01/2013 20:39

Hi everyone, wow, it's great to have so much company on the late AF bus Wink

Girra so glad to hear your good news, fingers crossed for a stronger line tomorrow.

I had heart burn last night too as I'm getting ridiculously tired, so I caved a day early and did another first response test and also got a really faint line this morning, so I'm going to try again tomorrow am. I'm feeling hopeful, however having had the MC so recently if this works out I think I'll probably be panicking and checking for bleeds constantly until I get past 13 weeks and I won't tell anyone this time until I cant hide it any more!

Good luck anyone testing tomorrow am xx

Girraferama · 10/01/2013 19:38

I'm afraid I'm one of those Blush but for a good reason!! DH is a shift worker so we can go days without seeing each other or not being in bed at the same time, it's annoying but sometimes life just gets on the way!!

JellyBeanDavey · 10/01/2013 17:49

I keep reading about people DTD like as little as once a fortnight. I am so shocked! I couldn't survive on that, trying or no trying.

bluefreckles · 10/01/2013 15:59

We're about same. I'm 11 or 12 days late... Smile

OP posts:
JellyBeanDavey · 10/01/2013 13:43

Blue I'm gona try. That sound like a good option. I'm on my 11th day late

bluefreckles · 10/01/2013 13:41

Jellybean - how late are you now? Try and get the cheapie tests from ebay or amazon. I got 20 10miu tests for £2.40!

OP posts:
JellyBeanDavey · 10/01/2013 13:20

I tested again and nothing. Been have cramps on and off. I can't afford anymore tests lol so ill just have to wait. I've asked for one thing only for my birthday (Sunday) and that's a test haha I'm going to stop stressing now, what will be will be and we're not going to get anything any quicker, so embrace time Grin
