We've filled out thread - I do hope you all find your way here. I can't add a message on the old thread to let you know it is here...Smile

This new thread, will no doubt have its own set of bfp's and babies. I am excited to see what it brings.

Hello everyone, can I join? I'm 40 and just about to ttc dc4. Ds1 is nearly 11, ds2 is 8, and ds3 will be 7 in 2 weeks. I had my coil removed yesterday! I would like a dd, so am following special high magnesium/calcium, low sodium/potassium diet at the moment. But I'm quite sure it will be a ds anyway, if I'm lucky enough to get pg now Smile . I've not had any mc or problems before and never had any trouble conceiving, but I guess it could all be different now. I had a blood test and had a high level of progesterone, so doc thought I shouldn't have any fertility issues. Hope dh doesn't either - he is 47yo.

calendargal · 23/02/2013 09:29

What wonderful news about the screening test, sparkly! That sounds quite incredible for 40+. How far along are you now?

Yes, SW, aspirin is as gum says, to stop clots causing probs.

DH happy - he got in late and needed to eat so didn't manage to talk much and we have a family gathering this weekend so will try to squeeze in a chat some time!

sparklysapphire · 23/02/2013 01:04

gum, crossed posts, just haven't had chance to post all week, and posting on my phone is so time consuming and rubbish. Enjoy the party, and good luck with the iron will!

Southwest · 23/02/2013 00:39

That is an amazing figure for risk!! congrats

Southwest · 23/02/2013 00:38

Thankyou I had a friend who took aspirin and it worked for her (under 40 though)
my target is embarrassing around 20 kg but that will put me slap bang in the middle of the ideal weight range

good luck with your party and not drinking Grin

sparklysapphire · 23/02/2013 00:25

Isabeller, good to hear from you, I'm glad your break sounds like it's been good for you & DH. Enjoy the salad Smile.

Notsoold, I kept waiting for the nausea to kick in, and when it didn't I was convinced that the pregnancy had failed as I had no nausea when I had the m/c and felt terrible with DD, but I've had none this time and I'm now 13 + 3.

Gum, I hope you're now enjoying a lovely weekend after your not so great week, no wonder you were cross about your professional learning in your own time...and the trousers.

Calibee, I agree that Travelodge can sometimes be a reasonable option if you're not fussed about a luxury hotel experience (!), you know exactly what you're getting. But I can't imagine any where in London will be inexpensive, I hope you find somewhere suitable for a lovely break. Sorry you've had a few wobbles this week, and you too JBrd.

I hope you're DH is happy with your news calendargal.

Diege, are you feeling sick yet?

Lovely to hear from italian and miasmum, and welcome shifty.

I missed the call from the hospital due to the rubbish mobile reception where I work, so had to the listen to the voicemail 3 times to make sure the midwife said the screening result gave a Down's risk of 1 in 20,000! I'm going to call on Monday to confirm. I haven't told DH yet. Things are basically no better, though on the surface things are ok, and we had a good trip to MIL's and a reasonable week this week. We didn't tell her, I haven't told any family yet.

Hi to everyone else I haven't name checked, have a lovely weekend

hopefulgum · 23/02/2013 00:13

Hi southwest. I am not sure about your first question. I always refer to Dr Google with my medical questionsHmm

I don't think aspirin helps to get you pregnant, it is taken during the tww. It helps keep blood flowing and may help micro clots that can develop.

Well done on losing a kilo and a half. What's your goal?

I have been doing a 30 day detox thingy and I feel I may have lost more weight but I won't weigh in until the 30 days are up (I'm on day 24).

I have a fortieth party tonight. I am not supposed to drink alcohol (for the detox) and also I'm on the tww. I think it will take an iron will, but I will try.

I watched the tv show "The Midwives" this morning. Talk about torturing myself!Confused It was fabulous and so interesting, but it just makes me want a baby even moreSad Lots of tears, but mainly of happiness for the people having their babies.

Just really really want to do it again.

Sparkly -I hope all is well and that you can come on the thread and catch up soon.

Deige- the fact you are feeling a bit sick already is a good signSmile

I hope everyone else is well.

Better get organised.Want to hit the farmer's market before all the good produce has been soldGrin

congratulations calendargirl
Can I aks a couple of questions? IS there anywhere I can look up some medical type info (I have the chance for some free blood tests but for 1 month only and I want to try and use it)

Also I read something about baby aspirin but am I right in thinking that is only to keep pregnant not to get pregnant.

I have lost the kg I gained and another half.......!

calendargal · 22/02/2013 20:43

Thanks for all the congratulations everyone. DH back home in an hour or so - will tell him then. JBrd, DD didn't actually run in and tell FIL - it was just my fear that she would!

notsoold, don't worry about sickness - whilst I've heard about the correlation between sickness and sticky pregnancies, my one successful pregnancy was a dream - I hardly knew I was pg. Whereas in my first pg I vomited early on - ended in mc. So you can't really tell.

gum, I 'cheat' at FertilityFriend too sometimes Grin. Btw, my rating was only 'good' this month - obviously good enough then...

sparkly, look forward to hearing your news - hope things are better with DH.

Diege, I left off temping today, though I might start again - a drop in temp did give me a heads-up about my second mc (though it drove me nuts with my successful pg too - so i don't know...) My due date is 26 October - what's yours?

CaliBee, Travelodge and Ibis are usually much cheaper than Premier Inn - not nearly as nice but London is so great that it doesn't matter what the hotel is like (within reason).

I am absolutely knackered, and DD decided to have one of her (thankfully rare) difficult days today - honestly, argued about everything from opening the curtains this morning to changing her nappy at bedtime. It's a very odd thing, but I found myself looking at DD differently today, knowing I was pg again - anyone else find that?

CaliBee · 22/02/2013 17:41

I can't even begin to imagine how you are feeling Is...remember we are all here to support you.
Ok I think I may have changed into one of those "tearful women who cry at anything" types. Traffic in the town where I live is notoriously bad and whilst waiting in the never ending queue to travel to the other side of town I spied the flashing lights of an ambulance in my rear view mirror, trying (mostly in vain) to negotiate the bumper to bumper cars on the roundabout behind me. I dutifully pulled over and as the ambulance passed I looked forward to see in perfect poetic motion, all the cars ahead pull back into their lanes. Why oh why oh why would that make me well up??? Oh my. [huh].
On a plus side its Friday, I feel good even tho DP not coming home Sad and I may even partake in a small glass or two of Wine to celebrate getting through another week.
diege I dont envy you the sickness but at least its a good sign no??

Isabeller · 22/02/2013 17:07

Hope you find somewhere lovely to stay Calibee. I think the doctor will be able to say when the next cycle can start Diege, I'm feeling impatient and nervous at the same time...
Congratulations calendargal and thankyou hopeful for the encouraging stories

Diege · 22/02/2013 08:49

Morning Smile. Isabeller your holiday does sound quite restorative, and so good that you have got that closeness with your dh. Will you find out at the meeting when the next cycle commences?
Many congrats calendergirl Grin!!!! Are you stopping temping now? I have banished the thermometer and the other 49 tests - for now at least! Do you have a due date calculated?
calibee I see what you mean about paying all that money for cloud and grey skies... Hopefully a London-ite will be able to advise some good deals. Have always wanted to go to London for pleasure only,as opposed to work - am sure you will have a great time xx
Feeling a bit sick in the evenings now, hoping it signifies the start of proper sickness (afternoon/evenings always my worst time).
Love to all xx

CaliBee · 22/02/2013 07:55

Congrats calendergal ...thats good news.

Hi to isabeller I'm glad you and your man have managed to recapture that closeness and take some time out. It's a sad fact that we women can tend to get a little caught up in the ttc business and neglect that side of our relationships. The sunshine holiday is definately off, but I am toying with the idea of a few days in London perhaps. Anybody know the best sites for London hotels? I do quite like Premier Inn...but they are coming in at about £500 for just 4 nights. I feel just a tincy incy bit begrudging to spend that and get no sun.
Its the first weekend since Xmas and the mc, that dp cant make it home ...I feel a little abandoned if I'm honest. I know, I know its a little selfish, its just that trying to maintain a relationship on the phone is so difficult. Part of me wants to go out and party [devil emoticon] the other half wants to snuggy up and do nothing...and I mean nothing!!
So I'm 10dpo today. Af should arrive next Tuesday(ish) marking the first cycle and a new round of Clomid. In the absence of sore boobs I do have some amazing right sided pinching pains...enough to make me suck in breath. Is this a new LP symptom I wonder??
We have a brief from our chief executive this afternoon re the Francis report....hmmmm should be interesting!!!
Have a lovely day all x

Isabeller · 22/02/2013 02:02

Back in the land of internet and wanted to drop in with Thanks for the messages of sympathy, your support really means a lot. I'm so glad there is happy news around for a few people (or perhaps lots!) and I will catch up properly over the weekend. It makes me feel better to hear about other people's success, a lovely warm glow.

It was very sad for us to get the negative test result but being away together gave us time to talk and feel a bit upset and in the end rebuild our closeness after a long time of stress and worry. Not having the internet was probably a blessing too because we concentrated on each other.

I'll be at the clinic for a review next week and find out about a frozen cycle meanwhile back to salad and C25K Wink.

Love to all xx Is

notsoold · 21/02/2013 23:12

Diege...I am only 5+5....oh my....a long way to go!!!

Calendar...congratulations:):):)

Gum...I totally agree with you as I am learning the hard way that pain comes under different disguises....thinking of you xxxxx

Just a quick post to share that I told dh about pg and he was cautiously happy....I know I said I wasn't going to but the mad, mad man wanted help carrying heavy furniture from ikea. So I told him among the houseplants and he was cautiously happy....not romantic at all ....

Xxx to everybody here!!!!

sparklysapphire · 21/02/2013 23:03

Just popping in to say Congratulations Thanks to calendargal, lovely news. I haven't had chance to post this week, but I have been reading, so hope to have more time tomorrow or Saturday.

hopefulgum · 21/02/2013 22:45

Oh lovely news calendargirl. Congratulations Thanks May you have an easy, calm pregnancy.

I hope this is the start of a run of BFP's on this thread. Wouldn't that be magic!

For some reason that I can't fathom, FF wanted to change my O day from 13 to 14. But I wouldn't let it! I am sure that 13 was O day (or night actually). Whichever, I just hope I it was perfect timing, a perfect egg and a nice little baby...So I took the second "peak" off my chart and that sorted it.

Morien, my DH read the books, and loved them, but it seemed an onerous task to me - they are huge and there are so many. Every now and again he'd give me titbits of information, it sounds like there's much more to come in the TV series. It is great, quite addictive.

My DD has just started a regular babysitting job for a friend of a friend who is pregnant and has a 2 year old. She has been very sick with this pregnancy (she's 12 weeks today) and needed some help. Poor thing looks awful, and I hope she feels better soon, but I have to say I am Envy of her.

I really hate this secondary infertility. I don't even know if you can call it that. I am sure someone with infertility would hate me for saying that, as I already have children, but I have been trying to have one last baby for three years now and as time goes by my chances are less and less. It sucks. Maybe, as the once "fertile Myrtle" I used to be, this is a lesson in compassion, understanding a little of what it means to ttc for a long time and not get your heart's desire.

I will try to remain optimistic, what else can I do? My life is good and happy. I just know someone is missing from itSad

BTW, thanks to the old snug poster (whom I don't recognise) further up the thread who mentioned Nicole's grandmother who had a bub at 49. I also have a good story. Waiting at the classroom door last week I got talking to another mum, and she is noticably pregnant. She's really petite and slim and has the cutest bump. I was surprised that she is only 11 weeks pregnant. Anyway we got talking and she told me she had her first baby, at the same time as her sister and her mother! She has a 4 year old son and a 4 year old brother! Her mum had the brother at 44! Isn't that a wonderful story. My granny also had a baby the same time as my mum. I have an aunt who is two weeks older than me. My granny was 42.
Anyway, this mum at school told me she'd lost a baby last year, so I am very happy her pregnancy is going well. She is only 30, so loss can happen, whatever age you are.

I should go and get ready for work. So glad it is the weekend again tomorrow.Although we are very busy, at least the working week whizzes by.

JBrd · 21/02/2013 21:09

Congratulations, calendargal Thanks!!! The BFPs keep coming hard and fast now. Fingers crossed it'll be a sticky bean.
BTW, what did your FIL say when your DD told him you'd weed in a pot?!? Grin

calendargal · 21/02/2013 20:42

BFP here Shock Grin Sorry I couldn't update earlier. Tests arrived mid-morning - I practically grabbed them from the postman - but had FIL with me and (v articulate) DD following me into the toilet so had to resort to great subterfuge to do one - could just see DD coming out and telling FIL all about mummy weeing in a pot.

The line didn't come up immediately (not FMU of course) and my reaction was "Huh?? Wtf? Where's my BFP?" Then I peered at the test and saw a faint line form before my eyes and felt...relieved I think. So on that coin-flip reaction I suppose I do want this (I have mentioned the vvv bad timing). Then I felt calm, happy and excited all morning and all through lunch - before feeling increasingly knackered in the afternoon. I have been feeling that early pg tiredness for a few days (though have had a bad cold too).

It's funny that you all think I'm the soul of patience - I'm so not, but I knew I was pg (because I chart) so I wasn't in suspense. Just needed to confirm what I already knew.

Now, will read all your updates!

galwaygal · 21/02/2013 20:36

Hi all, sorry to butt in, old snug resident here, please excuse the quick message to my old friend.
Thanks Diege Thanks, hey me old friend, congrats on being preggo again, (not that I really believed that you has stopped ttc!!!). May I wish you a sticky little bean, and perhaps one without the puking Envy being quite so horrendous. Hoping that this one gives you the nice even number of children too. (so not twins, but one or triplets!!!! Hehehe). I miss having the fun in the snug, but do keep a little eye on how everyone is doing. [Hug]

CaliBee · 21/02/2013 17:30

morien very quickly as I'm doing about ten things at once here.....books are fantastic..more detailed and I learned more names after reading the books. I even went back and watched the series' again after reading them.
Bless your DS, what a little love.

Morien · 21/02/2013 16:48

Thanks Diege. I've actually had a really nice few days but at the back of my mind there's the thought that in a parallel universe my due date was this week. I felt really sad about it last week but this week has been better - the anticipation was worse than the reality. During my blip last week I posted about wanting to go back to just making the most of my DSCs because after all, they might be the closest I ever come - and then last week they were just so lovely and gentle with me. We always get on well but it was as if they knew I needed them to be like that with me. (It reminded me of the evening I found out about the mmc - I was crying, and DSS (3 at the time) came into the room. DP tried to send him out so I could have some privacy, but DSS refused to go - instead he stomped over to me (he's a little bruiser), climbed on to my knee and put his arms around my neck. He nuzzled his face against mine for a minute, told me not to cry and then stomped out, closing the door behind him!)

CaliBee, thanks for the info about Provera etc, and thanks gum for mentioning it too. I'm going to call my gynae this evening for an appointment. (I'm not sure if that's how other people make appointments with her but we bought our house from her so I get special treatment!) Still no sign of AF.

Shifty, welcome! Sorry AF got you (wish she'd get me though!)

notsoold glad your son survived his trip had a good time!

Waiting, waiting, waiting for this evening so we can watch more Game of Thrones... Cali, jbrd are the books good?

hopefulgum · 21/02/2013 10:53

Jbrd, don't worry about being a day out with the CBFM. It will start asking for sticks early enough for you to catch the surge.

Greenlizard, I did a bit of research about the CBFM and apparently it will keep asking for sticks, til it has asked for 20 if you haven't had a peak. And even if you do have a peak, it will ask for 10. So when I get a peak, I will stop testing. I do wonder if it is just a way of raising revenue by selling a truckload of sticks to everyone. I think I may need to buy more, but, I am hoping I won't need to. However, by the time AF turns up, It is too late for the box of sticks to be ordered to come in time for the next ovulation.

I've had a bit of tingling in my breasts on and off today. I really don't want to think much of it, but it is a good sign. I know many people say pregnancy symptoms don't kick in until after implantation, but I don't agree. With each of my pregnancies (and I've had nine), I had had symptoms in the tww. BUt these days I seem to have them in the first week of the 2ww then they sem to disappear, which tells me they aren't implanting. At least that's my theory and I'm sticking to itGrin

The copyright meeting was bone dry and dull, and it seems we now have a whole lot of extra work logging everything we use for work from the internet. Bloody hell...Angry

Deige, cross hairs just means that FF has identified ovulation. SO I'm now 3DPO, just like G.Lizard.

calendergirl, I cannot believe you haven't tested yet. Wow! Will of steel. I would have been out to the shops by now if I were you. But at the moment I have approx 30 internet cheapies, 7 First response and 1 clearblue digital tests, all waiting to give me the BFP I deserveGrin (If only it was a case of most deserving, but we all know that isn't the case when we see abusive,chain-smoking troll screaming at their toddlersSad)

OP posts:
JBrd · 21/02/2013 09:34

Good morning, everyone!
calendargal Everything crossed for you! Keep the BFPs coming, ladies!

notsoold When I had my last BFP, I poas for weeks before I really believed it... Stay positive, wishing you a sticky bean! And to everyone else, too, of course!

Question for those of you with experience of using the CBFM - I think I must have missed switching it on properly on day (I've done it first thing when my alarm goes off for taking my temp, so barely awake, probably not a good thing...). So when I checked properly today, as I was expecting it to start demanding to poas, I realised it's on CD5, but I am on CD6. Does this now mean I can't use it for this cycle anymore, or can I continue in spite of being a day out, since this is the 'getting to know you' cycle? I'm using OPKs alongside with it, so I don't think I'll be likely to miss ovulation. Am I right to think that in the worst case, I'll just have to use more of the stick?

Only 2 more mornings of work to get through, then I'm on holiday! Can't wait! I want to chill, read lots, get some nice spa treatments, do lots of fun things with DS, and some different fun things with DH Wink and, most importantly, sleeeeeeppp...

However, from the looks of it, the reality will be that I'll be spending a significant amount of time working on my CV and job applications Confused. Ugh. But at least I can get on with it, at the moment it all has to happen in the evenings, when I'm shattered.

greenlizard · 21/02/2013 07:49

Morning

notsoold glad you can finally believe it! If(when) i get a Bfp I would imagine i would certainly pee on every stick going for a long period of time. Re MS I would think that every pregnancy is different so not necessarily a sign. Fingers crossed for you.

diege?I understand you wanting to keep your news to yourself for a while but really I don't know how you can - I would be busting a gut!! Hope you feel sick very soon Grin

hopeful we are officially cycle buddies now. Temp was up again so got my cross hairs and am now officially 3DPO (the same as you I think). Still using my CBFM and it is still giving me highs. I have been testing every day since CD6 and it is now CD15 - is it going to keep asking me to test until I have used all 20 sticks? I am starting to wonder about the wisdom of buying this machine as it doesn't seem very illuminating for me at all. I got a high shag rating on FF but didn't manage to BD on the actual day of O so we shall see! Sorry your day sounded so frustrating (but I did chuckle about your DS - kids are very funny and quirkey though not so when you are trying to get out of the house!!)

calendergal please test! I am impatient.....

Welcome to martha and shifty and hello to everyone else - I am off as late for work!
