viv Yey for you, legs in the air! Don't worry about the big O, you can have that after your BFP!

captain an alternative opinion... I'm a size 8 (not by choice, I never diet), I eat mostly crap, snack and sugary food, and don't exercise. (Courtesy lucky metabolism and laziness... I am not proud of being unhealthy). I am pretty much convinced, despite weight, you are much much much healthier than me and more likely to get a BFP. Remember a modern day size 8 or 10 was pretty much never heard of in the 'Olden days', ie modern culture has made people believe they need to be thin but it was not always this way. Appreciate I can sound patronising etc being thin already however I truly believe healthy is best and you tick that box well. (Also everyone has their own natural weight... It's the weight you stay at when eating normally for you and exercising normally for you... People look strange when they go too much under their natural weight in my opinion...) either way good luck in what you aim for x

Pipbin · 22/01/2013 22:06

Captain I lost loads with Weightwatchers. And even though I've stopped going now I've kept the weight off and even kept losing. Although I do run, I don't find it makes any difference weight wise. If found that after I got my BMI down below 30 my cycle went from 5 to 4 weeks! Worth doing just to get more chances in a year.

Aquarius1 · 22/01/2013 22:05

captain i'm no expert but you definitely shouldn't do a diet that makes you feel rubbish. It sounds like you're already taking marvelous steps to improve your health and you're way fitter than a lot of people, including me. I wish I had your energy! I'm a lazy so and so and I rely too much on my low bmi to tell myself I'm healthy, but I know that doesn't cut it (and my blood test results don't paint a great picture either).

On what basis did they advise you to lose weight before surgery?

Pipbin · 22/01/2013 21:54

Viv I would say that the dark line means that would have got a peak on your CBFM, if it were working. Therefore you should ov in the next 48 hours.

MotherOfCleo · 22/01/2013 21:46

captain Ive lost weight on both weightwatchers and slimming world, both have their pluses and minuses, tbh I would say slim fast is one of the worst things you could do as its all processed and will shock your body. I would probably suggest looking into slimming world, it isnt so much a diet as a way of monitoring and learninf about healthy eating. You can eat lots but it is healthier stuff, it really helped me learn about not only healthy eating but what worked for me to lose weight. Plus there is no measuring.

Ive not heard of the issues you mentioned, Im not sure that losing weight slowly and safely can ever be bad for you though.

Hope that didnt come across as bossy or annoying. FX you find something which suits you soon, half the battle is making up your mind to make the change so youve already taken a huge step in the right direction Grin

captainmoll · 22/01/2013 21:36

I'm a gin convert. Hated it in my 20's but now I love the stuff but not at the moment because boozing is bad
Right ladies. Opinion canvassing time..
I'm a fatty. I always have been. Even as a perky teen doing competition swimming (training 4hrs or more a week, plus all the netball/hockey/athletics my school could throw at me) I was never less than a size 16. These days I sit pretty stabley around the 16-18 mark. At my MRI last week, I found out my BMI has me just on the border of the overweight and obese bit of the chart. Shock
I swim twice a week (jogging's out - jiggered knee, bad ankle and the ferocious dogs that get walked by ferocious owners round my way).My life means I'm up and about most of the time - I don't have a desk job, I walk for about an hour each day. I eat a healthy balanced diet - since TTC I've cut down on the booze dramatically and made small changes like cutting out butter, and generally being better behaved all round.
Now here's the thing - I know I need to lose weight to increase my fertility BUT it turns out dieting can also reduce fertility (something to do with IGF1). So what the effing heck am I supposed to do?

I'm currently giving Slimfast a go as a last ditch desperate attempt to shed some pounds as I've been told I should try to before surgery. It is so depressing, and leaves me ratty and cold and stupid by the end of the day. This evening I've been looking into the 5:2 fasting diet, but again coming up against the fact that it appears to be bad for fertility.

So what's worse? Being fat, or being on a diet?

Boodle9 · 22/01/2013 21:06

Smile twinkle. So basically, the rule is, whatever we are doing, DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE!

And gin? How I do wish for a vomiting smiley right now.

twinklestar2 · 22/01/2013 20:54

Boodle I've beaten you. I'm now on cd19 as AF is on her way.

Viv - I'm going to chuck the CBFM out of the frickin window! Luckily I did dtd after the peak but I still didn't catch and I did focus on dtd around the fake peak. Did it 4 days in a row.

MotherOfCleo · 22/01/2013 20:51

haha viv i've never been very good at being politically correct Confused they freak me the heck out, they are horribly codependant aren't they! They just have no empathy for anyone else and always think that it has to be their way or the highway! I wonder if they've been doing reality shows and playing characters for so long that they have forgotten who they actually are? Either way they need to go back to the USA asap! Their continual moaning about the UK and UK people, mocking our accent etc is bugging the crap out of me!

Oh an gin is foul! Its my best mates favourite tipple and just means I cant nick her drink Sad makes me thirstier after I've drunk it than before!

Boodle9 · 22/01/2013 20:42

(Allows talk of CBB to whoosh gently over her head.)

Hello! Ooh, talk of cervical dipping! How very interesting! In the spirit of sharing too much information, I nearly always climax at the same time / just after DH.

Given that (as previously mentioned about 100 times) I am on cycle EIGHTEEN, my advice is for you to steer well clear of the big O. Seriously, dry and frigid must be the way forward...

viviennewestwould · 22/01/2013 20:23

Mother, when you called them 'retards' last week I howled laughing . I know it's a horrid word and mumsnetters usually reach for the gin (why does every woman on mumsnet drink gin? It's vile. Even as an alcoholic I had to hold my nose to get that shit down) whenever un-pc words are uttered, but you made me laugh. Yeah, 'Speidi' are completely separate species to the human race, aren't they? I am endlessly fascinated by them, though; their co-dependency is frightening. They really are scarily made for each other. I reckon, given the chance, they could rule the world.

viviennewestwould · 22/01/2013 20:18

Twinkle, the creators of the CBFM should be thoroughly investigated and publicly flogged. Lying bastards one and all. These machines give a 'peak' sign a day late, making it less likely you'll get enough shagging done (unless, of course, you've been having sex daily since CD5 which this ridiculous gadget demands) Angry

MotherOfCleo · 22/01/2013 20:17

viv i agree re the orgasm lol.

we are watching CBB too but it just makes me angry! Speidi are the most horredous poisonus couple ive ever seen, Heidi needs a slap and Spencer needs a damn good kickin'! Think Rylan is doing himself a lot of good though he is coming across really well.

viviennewestwould · 22/01/2013 20:12

Aquarius, what's an orgasm? Hmm Seriously, though, a woman's orgasm and the concomitant vaginal pulsing assists the sperm on their northbound journey. However, if conception only occurred through the female orgasming this planet would not be quite so populated. At this point I would like to brag that Mr. Viv managed to ejaculate yet again tonight and I climaxed, too BlushGrin

But I don't want an orgasm...I want a babby.

Captain, Mr.C and Mr.V will be fighting on the medal rostrum at this rate! Both champions, eh? I'm proper chuffed he pulled his finger out, love.

Anyone else loving Celeb BB?

twinklestar2 · 22/01/2013 19:25

Pink when I wipe and cramps. Roll on cycle 19. 30 day cycle which means the CBFM was lying as it peaked cd10.

Thundercatsarego · 22/01/2013 19:20

every month, bunny?

Bunnygirlie · 22/01/2013 19:02

2cats that sounds like a fab honeymoon, I got married sept 2011 and it took me months to get over the post wedding blues!

AF due Monday or tues according to my apps, was few days early last month so we shall see! Just waiting for my usual hideous pre-period bout of (sorry tmi) thrush, gee I am so lucky!

Oh FFS every time I go on bookface somebody else is pg and the news sites are full of people posing butt naked pg! Why why why!!!

Aquarius1 · 22/01/2013 17:49

Thanks all Smile well that's a new one on me - and I just had a load of ewcm this afternoon too so better get 'dipping'! That's what I'm calling it from now on!

Oh, and Yay captain Smile

Thundercatsarego · 22/01/2013 17:35

My goodness, every day's a school day here- cervical dips eh?! Hmmm when we're up to it the lovely OH erm helps me out first, so I'll be subscribing to the pelvic floor number too. Totally agree with captain that it helps mid act.

MotherOfCleo · 22/01/2013 16:23

Yay MrMoll glad he got his act together Smile

captainmoll · 22/01/2013 14:20

Claxon! Bells! Party hats!
DH got his blood and SA tests done today!!
*proud wife
Grin

MotherOfCleo · 22/01/2013 14:13

aquarius I rarely orgasm, I do the legs in the air number and the pelvic floor number too though so FX they still find their way Smile

captainmoll · 22/01/2013 14:05

post-script - the cervical dip is the reason many women find they orgasm just after their partner - we're sort of programmed that way by evolution. Maybe encourage DP to keep up some kind of attention in the moments just after he's 'arrived'?

captainmoll · 22/01/2013 14:03

Aquarius - yes to the cervical dip - was just going to say the same thing - BUT - even if you don't climax, you can kinda do the dip anyway. It's a bit like pelvic floor exercises, and I sometimes find that trying to do it helps me get there anyway when mid-act. There's also the old post-coital legs-in-the-air, which I'm totally convinced all helps too..

2cats222 · 22/01/2013 13:59

aquarius i've heard/read it helps provided it's after he does. Read this about the beautifully named cervical dip! www.sheknows.com/love-and-sex/articles/811826/the-cervical-dip-orgasms-trying-to-conceive
