Old Fred here

Here we go Brookers, it's been a long year with lots of BFPs and newborn snuggles for the Brookers. We're just a sleigh-ride away from 2013, when the rest of us will get our get our 12 week scans (because of course we will all have BFPs under the christmas tree this year!)

So come all ye brookers, it's tinsel and baubels all the way!

OP posts:

cup mine just pulled up my top for my back, then legs, feet, head. Come on, you can't be embarrassed you've had so many people look up your bits this'll be nothing...

Am not sure how I feel. Am looking forward to seeing her, but dreading the inevitable horrid feelings. As well as how to cope with conversations about her pg, and my lack of...

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/01/2013 14:34

Luckily even though my girl loves playing with other dogs she still loves treats more, so she is very easy to train. She has only just got interested in a ball after years of trying to get her to fetch. It does get easier as they get older and tire easier Grin

What OPKs are you using Cleo? If its the cheap ones from amazon/ebay I sometimes got a positive for a few days and kept testing until the line went feint again.

MotherOfCleo · 16/01/2013 14:23

Ahhh cupcakes we tried the either sides of field and hiding etc, ours is a proper hound though, she just thinks 'ohh hang on a minute mum, I'm just following this smell'....little rat bag lol. We do have the 'leave it' command sorted though, not tried it with dogs though...that's an idea. Smile

Quick question, so I just did another OPK and it's positive again, is it usual to have a positive OPK two days running? Hmm

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/01/2013 14:21

By the way I've booked my first acupuncture for next week. I'm starting to get worried about the needles. What will I need to wear? I'm worried about having to strip off!

Keep how are you feeling about your sister visiting?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/01/2013 14:19

Scarlett that is awesome! So glad the appointment went the way you where hoping. Not long now until your BFP Smile

Geek hope the g & t helped, I can't believe I missed the party Sad I was busy catching up with DH as he got back from his work trip last night.

Sweetie my doggy has good recall most of the time (it can be difficult around other dogs but I can still get her back most of the time). She was terrible as a pup, we used chase recall with her which really worked. DH and I would go to other sides of the park if it was quiet and get her to run to one person while the other one hid and she would then have to find us. She loved finding us & it worked a treat as she never lets us get out of her sight now. I've also taught her "leave it" as a command in relation to food and it now works if we are out and I don't want her to approach people. Btw it only took us 2 years to get the recall sorted Wink

SweetieTime · 16/01/2013 09:38

face your bottom makes me Grin

keep was told to drink loads of water and eat protein. But have read up on it and loads of suggestions on milk & eggs being good. I hate milk so there is no way I can drink it. But as hot chocolate or ice cream now you are talking my language Wink Wink

Solars enjoy your acupuncture later and share all you news with the lady, it so helps to offload. I have really missed going for reflexology for that reason.

Still no sign of af here, think it should be tomorrow or Fri. I will have a word with reflexology lady. Last time I saw her was Oct so a lot to catch up on.

keepitgoing · 16/01/2013 09:23

You guys!! I'm only 5 days after iui!! Face, was told to test next Friday, but I don't usually test, just wait for AF. No symptoms yet. Am sat here eating pumpkin seeds, for protein. What a hassle, and I keep eating bits of wood.

solars scarlett sweetie were you told to drink lots of milk during ivf?

cartoontrickster · 16/01/2013 09:11

Oooo! breakfast! ill fetch some lemon curd for that toast.
sweetie yes I can do it that way and from today I will be. I had kinda thought just get it out the way and do both but I wasn't too well last nite from it! anyway I'm sure ur all bored of hearing about my bottom!
keep when can you test? I'm sure uve probably told us already but I can't remember. do they have cb over there? you really should get ur bfp on a proper testGrin

Solars · 16/01/2013 08:43

I missed the party too :(

Keep I could do with a running machine too at the moment, would save having to go out and run in this freezing weather at the moment! Any symptoms to report?

Sweetie I have my first acu session since the ivf later today too. I spoke to my acu lady a couple of weeks ago when I booked the session and gave her a synopsis of what happened and she was saying she couldn't wait for me to come in and tell her what had been going on.

Lots of hugs for you Cups I sympathise with all you are feeling and hope it passes soon. You will get your baby. FACT

Maybe it's all so frustrating isn't it, but hope that means they are looking into your case now.

I will try and be back later, but work is keeping me very busy at the moment

keepitgoing · 16/01/2013 04:52

Ooh, looks like y'all had a party last night while I was in bed!

Scarlett that is freaking awesome about your appointment. I think we'll be doing it end of Feb too. Have an appt with the consultant on Sunday (am changing clinics as don't really like my current doc) to see what protocol I'll do. So pleased for you!

maybe grrrr that they've not heard of you. How long have you been waiting. What about the 18 week target??

sweetie enjoy your reflexology. How long since you last went?

In other news, we're being lent a running machine for the next six months. Am excited as means I can run at home in the a/c, rather than having to get up early and go in the heat.

Of course, I'm pregnant, so will soon just be using it for walking on.

Oh, and my sis comes on Sunday. Eek. Just bought my niece a sunhat, but have no idea how big a 2yo head is, and the man just kept saying yes to all sizes!

:)

MotherOfCleo · 15/01/2013 23:53

maybe sounds familiar, mines a clever girl, knows what to do but will only do it when she fancies. I back up the running away thing, with mine I try to get her attention and then be more exciting that whatever she was attracted by, I have run down the field, arms waving and squeeling before just so she came back to me rather than running off .....has mixed results though. If it helps mine is getting better, it also helps that if its a big dog or more than one dog which we meet she gets a bit scared and comes closer to me....just incase. Dogs a tricky creatures huh. I do get told she is 'good for a basset' which i guess is good a backhanded compliment

NoMaybeAboutIt · 15/01/2013 23:05

It's so nice to know its not just us with a nutcase!! Cleo we work so hard with training. We still go to school every week! He knows exactly what to do. He just chooses not to do it!!

Sweetie our train infers have suggested a recall chase. You call her back then run away from her either getting her to chase you, or tie a toy to a long lead and trail it on the floor. We are yet to have to try it!

MotherOfCleo · 15/01/2013 22:36

maybe and sweetie im in that boat too, we have a 16 month old basset hound who has good recall in the house...alas, add a dog or new person into the mix and shes a delinquent! The rest of her training is good (i habe worked really really hard with her) but to her the best thing in the world is another dog so I stand no chance! Sad Oh and she loves a good chase, when she was little it was everything, cars, bikes, dogs, birds...everything. I used to walk her down the main a road by us to try and make cars boring....thankfully it worked. Think we chose the wrong breed for obedience lol. Shes so cute tho Grin

SweetieTime · 15/01/2013 22:24

Maybe pup is spaniel cross so very strong chase instinct, she also chases birds that are outside!!! She sticks 2 fingers up when we try calling her in from outside, only thing to work is to rattle a few biscuits in her bowl. Think training may be a labour of love Wink

NoMaybeAboutIt · 15/01/2013 21:57

Oh Scarlett that's amazing news!! Hurrah! And after a dirty weekend too! Perfect Wink

Good old MrG, I'm having a vino blanc in solidarity.

Sweetie Otis has the perfect recall when no other dogs are around. He is whistle trained, they pick it up dead quick. If there is a dog, he literally look at me, sticks 2 fingers up and bolts towards the dog! Does your pup have a good chase instinct? Only we have been given something to try, as Otis has a crazy chase instinct. To the point he was headbutting the window today trying to chase the birds outside!

SweetieTime · 15/01/2013 21:38

Great news Scarlett all the worry and it turns out ok in the end. I did short protocol last time and it was fine. Good to get your dirty weekend out of the way before you start. Bes thing about the short protocol is as the name suggests, it is nice and short!

Geek gin & tonic sounds fab, I sometimes get those premixed cans. I am sure they are cheating but sometime I just fancy one and I am not really a wine drinker. Hope you are feeling better now, more relaxed.

Face your DH is amazing without a doubt to do the administering of those progesterone bullets, can you not do one in the morning and one at night rather than both at the same time?. Mine offered to do the jabs but I am far too much of a control freak to let him do any, even though I really had a hissy fit when I had to introduce the second nightly injection. I was just worried it would be somehow different, of course it wasn't and I was fine after the first one.

Maybe completely off topic but how is Otis's recall? We are really struggling with getting the pup back whenwe let her off lead. She just finds EVERYTHING so exciting. Any tips? I am trying to train her to a whistle but yet to try it for real. Currently even treats aren't as exciting as other dogs, people, children, joggers, kids on scooter or skateboards - you get the picture?

Going back to reflexology tomorrow and so looking forward to it. I can not wait to catch the girl up on all my news, she will be amazed as so much has happened since I last saw her.

ControlGeek · 15/01/2013 21:37

we sure know how to live it up boo !!

Oh, I saw Les Mis at the cinema last night - was fab, would highly recommend it (though not as good as the stage show, and Russell Crowe has proven that he can sing, and he can act, just not at the same time)

NewYearNewBoo · 15/01/2013 21:16

Mmm thank you Scarlett, the plan sounds good, BFP guaranteed!!!

Turning in to quite a party here tonight :)

2 slices eh Geek you old lush you Grin

cartoontrickster · 15/01/2013 20:43

< clinks glass with geek>

ControlGeek · 15/01/2013 20:35

Oh scarlett that is fab, fab, fab news!!! Brooking that short protocol is the one for you, and your guaranteed BFP is in the bag x

ScarlettInSpace · 15/01/2013 20:33

Hiya everyone,

Just a quick update from me, saw consultant today and she's totally up for us going short protocol on next cycle, nurses appt next week then we can go when we want! Missing next cycle and going for one after, so starting again end of Feb without the hideous down reg hooray!

ControlGeek · 15/01/2013 20:27

Thankyou maybe Smile

MrG has made me an honest to goodness G&T (not something I have very often, so a real treat) with a slice of lemon and a slice of lime!
