Old Fred here

Here we go Brookers, it's been a long year with lots of BFPs and newborn snuggles for the Brookers. We're just a sleigh-ride away from 2013, when the rest of us will get our get our 12 week scans (because of course we will all have BFPs under the christmas tree this year!)

So come all ye brookers, it's tinsel and baubels all the way!

How on earth did I miss the maternity spreadsheet?! This is amazing. How are you both feeling today Geek?

Keep that's great news! The HCG is for the timing. It it's means they can know when your egg is mature and ready for Sperm101. How exciting. I so would PIACC. But then I am a geek.

How much will the test cost Sweetie? Totally get what you mean about covering all bases.

SweetieTime · 10/01/2013 08:40

keep it is just me mentalling as we have a very strong family history of thrombosis, strokes and high blood. So I have been worrying this may increase my likelihood of having sticky blood. Although I have never had a miscarriage I have also never been pregnant either. I am just thinking if I get pregnant through my donor ivf only to miscarry from something that could be prevented I would be devastated, of course I would be devastated whatever, and it wastes our very precious chance. The clinic said they would only test if I miscarry but then it is too late.

geek I am very impressed with the sound of the spreadsheet. You sound super organised. Grin Grin

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 08:20

Family history of m/c sweets?

geek has a week by week finance mat spreadsheet. We tried to catch her out but she's thought of everything - heating being on more, how many washing loads, saving on pubs while preg. Try it, you won't beat her!

SweetieTime · 10/01/2013 08:11

keep all sounds very exciting for iui - - I would poas just as a reference point for future Wink - - Glad you managed to watch the baby makers too. I haven't seen it yet but have it recorded. Grin Grin at you getting all Blush with the Dr. Brooking super hard for tomorrow for you my dear

face stop that knicker checking, it is pointless as that is bean isn't going anywhere for 8 months. FACT

Geek how are you guys doing this morning after the dust has settled? Hope all is ok. Have I missed the maternity spreadsheet? What on earth is this?

Well I have found a local place that might do sticky blood testing so I am going to give them a call this morning. I know I am probably being over paranoid but with my family history I just want to make sure everything is okay before we go ahead. If it only serves to bring me piece of mind then money well spent in my opinion.

Withalittlesparkle · 10/01/2013 08:08

Keep Thats fabulous news, it looks like it might all be coming together! I think your doc might be right about ensuring correct timing!! squeeeeeee by tomorrow you'll be so far on your way to be diffed its untrue!!! and lol @ you inability to talk about sex in front of your doc, I was the same when I went to see my doc about the irregular periods etc, and my doc asked how often we were dtd and I just blushed and started mumbling!!

Face stop it!!! you're diffed end of!! not that I still pant check everyday or anything

Geek my experience wasn't all favourable BUT I can certainly help you guys avoid the mistakes my twunt father made! And even now I can fully appreciate the love of your parents, so not at all bitter!!

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 07:57

PS, I triggered with hcg, so for the first time ever I suspect I have hcg in my body. Dh suggested I do one of my many preg tests 'to see if they actually work'. It's not the tests not working, love, it's the lack of baby!! Grin

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 07:50

Hi face!! Stop that knicker checking. It's all good.

So, my lining was 8.2mm!!(last month 3.1) so plenty good enough. One fat follie at 25.4 so they gave me a shot of hcg, and iui tomorrow lunchtime!! Grin Grin

Now, I did question the point of the drugs, as I produce a good size follie and lining all on my own, and was given vague murmurings about timing. Ah well.

Wasn't expecting it as soon as tomorrow but apparently smacking the rat last night is fine.

I came back from putting my pants on, in time to hear the Dr telling dh our iui will be tomorrow. So I started to ask if that was OK since we had sex last night, but totally froze, couldn't think what terminology to use, and was so embarrassed. How ridiculous, the man had just been looking up my foof, but I felt like a teenager admitting we'd DTD!! Turns out dh had already asked, and he laughingly came to my rescue, realising what I was trying to say. Grin

Weirdly excited, despite low chance.

cartoontrickster · 10/01/2013 07:09

bless u and Mr g geek I really hope you get the out come you want.
welcome to another day of my obsessive pant checking Grin

We are turning into a bit of an Assisted Conception thread, aren't we, cups!

I have scan today, so am nervous.

Luckily that programme was on iplayers main page, so no deception was needed... We watched it, I cried a little. I think it was helpful to reiterate to me that I shouldn't expect results first time. Also was v interesting to see all the embryology bit. geek they said you need to be a perfectionist/bit ocd, so I thought of you and your maternity spreadsheet, and how you'd have made a good embryologist! Grin

OK, am readying myself for scan and potential bad lining/egg news. Urgh, why can't we just dtd a few times and that's that, like normal people?!?!

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 02:23

Oh geek... Did he buy cards and presents each year and never send them?

Well done, to both of you. To you, for your detective work and being so supportive, and to him, for managing to write. I'm so glad her initial reply was positive, it may not be an easy road all the way, but it'll be worth it!

You lovely people. Massive good luck, and hugs.

ControlGeek · 10/01/2013 00:47

Withalittlesparkle · 09/01/2013 23:24

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2013 22:17

Oh Geek that's such lovely news. Well done MrG. And we'll done you for being so supportive x

NewYearNewBoo · 09/01/2013 21:50

Oh well done you for finding her, and it is so promising that the message from her was full of hope too. Aah, give Mr G a little squeeze from me (you don't have to tell him it's from a brooker though) well done both of you! Thanks

ControlGeek · 09/01/2013 21:35

^should say they came over a week before christmas 11 years ago, not this christmas just gone

ControlGeek · 09/01/2013 21:34

You're not nosey at all boo He's been trying to write them for 11 years. He last saw them our firsrt christmas together, they came over a week before Christmas and we had an early celebration - tree, presents, meal, the works. Then his ex changed the phone number, no response to cards, letters, gifts. We didn't know if they even still lived at the same address. Every year he has bought them birthday cards and presents, and this Christmas I found a pile of the most recent ones, written on and never sent, but kept all together in a brown paper envelope. I did a bit of googling and found out his eldest, his daughter, has an online profile so I sent her a message asking her where the best address was for her dad to contact her and her brother. Her response was so hopeful and wonderful (to me and mrG, anyway) that it gave him hope that if he wrote a letter from the heart he might not be rejected. It's been a really hard evening. Sorry for this being a long ramble, I really have no-one else to talk to about this and MrG is so emotional I have to stay strong for him tonight.

Thank you xxx

NewYearNewBoo · 09/01/2013 21:29

Can I be really nosey and ask what prompted it? Did he do it out of the blue or has he been trying to write for a while? You don't have to answer I'm just being really nosey :)

ControlGeek · 09/01/2013 21:15

sparks thank you, you have no idea how hard. I wish nobody else in the world ever had to go through this.

NewYearNewBoo · 09/01/2013 20:51

Oh well I'm going to spare him a bit of brooking and hope he gets a nice reply.

Grin
Withalittlesparkle · 09/01/2013 20:48

Well don't MrG, it must be so hard! I'm sure letter will be well received

ControlGeek · 09/01/2013 20:47

Thanks sweetie and boo

Yes boo I thought it was a Toddly thing to do too Wink

NewYearNewBoo · 09/01/2013 20:26

Blush lovely not Toddly!

NewYearNewBoo · 09/01/2013 20:25

Ooh well done Mr G, good on him :) such a brave and Toddly thing to do.

SweetieTime · 09/01/2013 20:24

Aw geek {{{hugs}}}, well done brave MrG. Hope those letters are well received

ControlGeek · 09/01/2013 20:21

Hello ladies, I don't normally do this kind of thing as you well know, but I have nobody else to tell. Brave, brave MrG has just written and posted letters to his two children (both now adults) that he hasn't seen in over 11 years. I am shedding a little tear here.
