I hope nobody else has started a May conception thread; April isn't going to be it for me, so onwards and forwards ladies!

trace2 · 12/05/2006 21:44

i myself on day 15, no sign of ovulationSad,
also have very bad af pains looks like clomid not helping me

coggy · 12/05/2006 21:32

WannaBe I feel really cross for you. Angry
I am not going to type what I nearly did as it won't be useful and I'm sure that you've felt it already!!!
Do your test tomorrow...be careful in how you look after yourself even if it's another bfn because you never know.
I don't know what else the gp can do. I can't believe that they won't do a blood test or that you had to phone up to find that out - she should have told you surely?!!

Oh dear...I've started!

I have been so mucked around over the past 10 months by various bits of the NHS and calmly waited until, last month I finally had enough and got assertive and they instantly pulled their finger out!!
Don't really know what to suggest for you though - how frustrating.
Do you still have all your symptoms?

wannaBe1974 · 12/05/2006 16:50

well I am going to test tomorrow morning and that is really the last time. If that test is bfn then I'm just going to resign myself to it as the medical profession seems uninterested.

wannaBe1974 · 12/05/2006 16:48

Klou am so sorry to hear you’re feeling down. From personal experience I know how disheartening it can be when af arrives month after month. Only you can decide whether you really want to continue going through the ttc process, after all, saying you’re going to stop does effectively mean accepting that you’re not going to have another baby – are you prepared for that?

It can take a perfectly healthy couple at least 12 months to conceive, and that is 12 months with a cycle every month, as you’ve managed to conceive in December, as sad as it is that you did m/c, you have managed to conceive, and I would hold on to that and persiveer – the baby you are meant to have is in there J

soundbites · 12/05/2006 14:21

Sorry you are feeling down, Klou. Since I am so new to all this I don't have any answers for you but can just send lots of good wishes. Same to Wannabe - how frustrating for you not really knowing.

TuttiFrutti, thanks for your post. You are right that 9mths (minimim) + 6mths maternity leave is a long way away with plenty of time to get things sorted and a business going for DH. (The 'hobby', by the way, is not too straightforward: composing music!) It does make sense for us both however. I just want to plan everything perfectly - hopefully having children will teach me that things are not really like that! Having decided to just go for ttc is a bit liberating in itself and I'm now just as keen as anyone on here really to see if it works out for us this month despite the nerves (first time trying so don't really expect so).

lots of luck to you all xxx

klou · 12/05/2006 12:54

It's not my month either,,,,,,i was very sure, but no bang on time. i was very upset last night and began thinking of giving up, my son is 3.5, i always wanted a big family - but age is not on my side - i'm 34 in july and my husband is 41. we had a m/c in december and i just cannot believe i am not pregnant again, at what point do you start to think maybe there is something wrong?

wannaBe1974 · 12/05/2006 11:52

hiya all :)

just a quick update, I just spoke to my gp surgery for my blood results, and she said that they've had a note back from the lab saying "sorry we no longer do blood pregnancy tests, please use a dipstick". she said if I go in they'll give me a bottle to take in a urine sample, but said that the hpt's are generally more reliable, well that's why I've already done 4 of them which were all bfn and was, I thought, the reason why gp wanted me to have a blood test? It seems I'm just destined never to find out :(

flowertot · 12/05/2006 07:55

I am still waiting. AF not due til about Thursday but had heavy boobs for a good week. Keep trying to convince myself I feel other symptoms too but I don't!
Don't really expect to be pregnant but I guess while there is small degree of hope I am hanging on to it!
Trying to be patient and not test til Thursday - will keep you posted

pussycatmomma · 11/05/2006 23:15

Hi, just thought i would let you all know that i am bowing out of the May thread. Af arrived today after a slow start. I had been building myself up to thinking I had lots of symptoms and genuinely believed myself to be pregnant this month. However Auntie f had very different ideas so if anyone was wondering I am deflecting to the June thread.
Best of luck to everyone, Im sending positive vibes and babydust to you all .
Good luck and take care of yourselves for the rest of the month.
Love and hugs , pusscat xxx x

jusapea · 11/05/2006 20:38

Congratulations EPM! Lovely news, hope you stay well and happy! Smile

elliepippamummy · 11/05/2006 19:29

Thanks and I take back what I said about my dd being well behaved as she is currently throwinn almighty strop about going to bed!!

maazaa · 11/05/2006 19:01

CONGRATULATIONS EPM!!!!!!! Look after yourself and fingers crossed the next few weeks go well!!!

TuttiFrutti · 11/05/2006 19:00

This "trying to conceive in May" thread must be on its last legs now, as we seem to be dropping like flies. Jusapea and maazaa,I joined you this afternoon and got my af a few days early. I can't help feeling a bit disappointed, even though it was our first month of trying and dh was away for 5 days over the critical period, so I knew it was a long shot.

Soundbites, don't be nervous, what your dh has suggested sounds like a really good idea to me - well, depending on how realistic turning his hobby into a job is! Even if you get pregnant immediately, you'll have 9 months of pregnancy and then 6 months of maternity leave, so you've got lots of time to get used to the idea and fine-tune the details.

elliepippamummy · 11/05/2006 18:44

Hi Everyone

I have posted on here a fewtimes and sorry to hear that that AF arrived or some of you, I have just taken a PG test an found out I am expecting again am 5 weeks (have long cycles) but keeping my fingers crossed as had mc in feb at 7 wks sure my dd aged 20 months knows something going on as she has been extra well behaved this week!!

jusapea · 11/05/2006 17:28

Hope that you are feeling a bit better today maazaa Smile. Aunty has been busy today, as she has decided to pay me a visit too, so I will be joining you on the June thread. Am quietly releived in one way, as havent had AF since Jan Shock, although am bit dissapointed too. Had some crazy idea that I might get pg without AF raising her little head again!! How easy to be so wrong!!!

Onwards and upwards.................!

coggy · 11/05/2006 13:16

Sorry to hear that AF came this morning maazaa. You're right tho' - it's good that you're disappointed cos it shows that you do want to be pregnant.
It's always such a big decision when you first decide to start ttc isn't it?

maazaa · 11/05/2006 12:49

Thank you all so much for your kind and wise words. I know you are all right. I am disappointed that I don't fit into that irritating catagory of "pregnant first time", which I am sure most people don't! So, my disappointment tells me I am ready to be pg, mentally. I know there will never be a good time. Aunty Flo arrived this morning so will look forward to having a go next month! Should be joining the June thread, I guess!

soundbites · 11/05/2006 10:02

Maazaa - same dilemma here (have gone on about it on other posts!) but I have a dh 7 years older than me (he is 35) and absolutely desperate for babies. I am 28, in an excellent job and know I could put it off another couple of years. But we have reached a compromise and have started ttc this month - a bit earlier than I wanted and a bit later than he did. And to further stress me out, the plan is that after 6 mths maternity leave for me I will return to my job and dh will take over and try to be a 'househusband' whilst pursuing the working from home career in an utterly different field (serious hobby) that he has always wanted to do. This terrifies me, to be going into completely untested territory with the responsibility of a new human being riding on it. So I agree with Coggy that there is NEVER a good time (I could think of reasons forever to put it off!!!). Best of luck with it all, and you are not alone … xxx

coggy · 10/05/2006 22:22

Can I add my bit of philosophy.......
.....there's never a good time.
Sometimes it's just not worth putting these things of for a 'perfect' moment cos there never will be one. There's always a big bill to be paid or a promotion or a.......

There we go....from the Old Wise Coggy Wink
...talking of which...I've just left some VERY wise advice on the twiglet thread for you jusapea!! I think you'll like it!! :)

jusapea · 10/05/2006 21:44

Maazaa, sorry to hear about your forlorn-nessSad. We are in a similar situation, in that I am currently at university and it really isnt the best time to be TTC, but when those hormones kick in and you know that you really want to become a parent, I dont think that theres much that you can do to get away from the feelingsSmile.
IMO, if its worth anything(!), I would remember that you have your whole life to further your career, but only a limited time to bring children into the world. At the end of the day, you must do whatever your heart tells you to, and the rest will fall into place. HTH Grin

maazaa · 10/05/2006 20:29

evening all. How are you all? How are you wannabe? Hope your bloods come back quickly.....

I am sooooooo premenstrual. think cm is getting pinky so m'aunty is on her way, sorry tmi. Feeling really confused. Things are going really well at work and they'd be so annoyed if I got pg, yet it's in my heart and soul to try.....men just don't seem to have the same dilemma. I don't know if I feel relieved or sad that AF is on the way. Which seems awful to admit to when I know everyone is keen to conceive. I really want to keep trying but don't want to miss an opportunity career wise. I know that if I wait until the time is right, I'll be pushing retirement!! Any advice? Feeling very forlorn.... :(

Debbsy · 10/05/2006 18:37

really i ould check that out cos when i had my early mc i was sent to early pg unit they took bloods and i got my result the next day.

wannaBe1974 · 10/05/2006 18:18

well the nurse who did the bloods said that it normally takes between a week to 10 days to get a result, although with hcg's they try to get them through quickly so to ring at the end of this week to see if any result.

One other thing I've noticed is that I seem to have lost my libido - and this happened when I was pg with ds as well.

Trace what does your radar tell you? :)

Debbsy · 10/05/2006 18:03

oohhh still sounding very positive then how long have you got to wait for blood results?
