I hope nobody else has started a May conception thread; April isn't going to be it for me, so onwards and forwards ladies!

Hi ladies I'm new here, I'm 30, dh is 31 and my dd is 21 months, I've just come off the pill (well in March) and my last period was the 4th of April.
Obviously TTC and still haven't had a period. Getting exactly the same symptoms as when I got pregnant with dd (sore, red nipples, montgomery tubercules on them, tiredness, slight nausea) but here's my problem. Because I've been so focused on it, I reckon my mind is playing tricks on me. The fact that my period is 2 days late means absolutely nothing for me as I don't know how long my cycle is going to be after stopping the pill.
With dd it took me 9 months to conceive, but I wasn't really trying, I'd stopped the pill for another reason (although was aware that I might fall pregnant), and didn't even find out until the baby was 15 weeks (that's how much attention I was paying to the whole thing).
Now it's a different thing, we're consciously trying (especially me Wink) and I tend to think about it more than I should.
I probably read too much into the symptoms and they are probably premenstrual symptoms that I never noticed before (although I have to say the last time I had sore nipples was when I was pregnant with dd!).
The best thing is to wait and see.
I did have period pains earlier at work.
So has anyone had a bfp yet?
By the way, what does af mean? I'm new to this so I'm not familiar with abbreviations.

mummy2jake · 03/05/2006 14:27

hi feeling fine except im for feeling exhausted and sore boobs. and i suffer quite bad with period pains before and during af normally. decided imnot gonna do another test till im at least a week late as getting that bfn is so deflating. just worried as i have to lift/ push really heavy trolleys/trays at work and dont want to do any damage incase i am . a girl i work with had a miscarrage last month that started at work
sorry to go on things are looking good hopecat and ll fingers crossed.

maazaa · 03/05/2006 14:19

I had a period about a week after stopping, which was a bit odd to start with but caught up with itself. Am treating that as CD1. I had only taken two weeks worth of pill having taken a 7 month break. Decided to start again, then we made the big decision, so stopped. Body is probably well messed up!

HC - i would say encouraging signs....! :)

wannaBe1974 · 03/05/2006 14:14

hopecat keeping fingers crossed for you :)

I also have lots of vains on boobs, for what they're worth, lol.

I actually think that there's a lot to be said for not testing until two weeks after af is due. I think that by testing on the day of af, and then two days later and so on just plays right into the hands of the manufacturers of pg tests. How many posts do we see on here of people who have tested on day of af and got a bfn, only to test a week later and got a bfp. If we totalled up the amount of money that people have spent on pregnancy tests that didn't give them the result they wanted/needed, we could probably buy a nice house somewhere in the country. and meanwhile, the manufacturers are rolling in it. And testing early just makes the stress that much harder to bear.

laughalot · 03/05/2006 14:11

Sounds good hopecat, mazza I did the same thing when I came off the pill I stopped it right in the middle of taking it as I had to have some antibiotics so I thought well it affects the pill so I might as well stop it, I had a period straight away though.

Hopecat · 03/05/2006 14:03

CD16 is pretty early for PMT! Did you come off the pill last month? Guess you can't get an overview of it all for a couple of months. You could easily get PG in the meantime, of course Smile

Boobs are outrageous - they used to be this size when I was a slightly overweight teenager. It's quite nice having them back actually.

They're also tender, and they've got little sebaceous gland bumps that have just come up all over them. Also aureoles have got darker and veinier (sorry for TMI).

maazaa · 03/05/2006 13:58

Going by the first day of my last period, CD 16. Have no idea how long my cycle is. Usually PMT arrives 3-4 days ahead of AF, but with halting the pill, I imagine I'm all over the place. Who knows. Am so tired and groggy. Can sympathise with Hopecat's double boobage! Have more spots than my students! All ties in with PMT!

laughalot · 03/05/2006 13:50

It could also mean you are pg what cd you on ?

maazaa · 03/05/2006 13:44

Hello Ladies! am FURIOUS today!!!!!Angry And for no good reason. Feeling irritable and annoyed. Add sore boobs and that must mean I am pre-menstrual. ARGH!!!!!!!

laughalot · 03/05/2006 13:42

I hate the waiting

Hopecat · 03/05/2006 13:40

I'd never heard it until I came on this site, but then my Mum said she had strong ovulation cramps both times she conceived, and they carried on for months.

I've got stretchy feelings too.

laughalot · 03/05/2006 13:30

I never knew that hopecat maybe its not af then

laughalot · 03/05/2006 13:29

That would be good

Hopecat · 03/05/2006 13:28

Lotta - stretchy feelings can be a sign of PG. Smile

Hopecat · 03/05/2006 13:27

Weekend was mad busy, but that's a good thing really. Last thing we need at the end of the 2ww is lots of thinking time, eh?

The highlight was probably standing onstage on Saturday afternoon in front of lots of people with 15 kids in pirate outfits. We had to sing The Pirate Song (don't ask).

Anyway, as some of us May Ladies are getting to the end of this cycle, we may be starting a June Thread soon. Scary thought! Unless, of course, every single one of us gets PG Grin

peachygirl · 03/05/2006 13:12

I thought you weren't on as you had a mad weekend with lots going on How was it?

laughalot · 03/05/2006 13:12

Hi hopecat I feel fine no af symptoms but as I said before my last af was 35 days which means I cant really test untill after next tuesday, just been in garden with ds and was pegging washing out and I kind of got cramps when I was streatching so maybe af is on her way

Hopecat · 03/05/2006 13:09

Thanks Peachy Smile

peachygirl · 03/05/2006 13:08

fingers crossed hopecat Smile

Hopecat · 03/05/2006 13:04

Hi Everyone! Been off for a few days - decided to have a short break from obssessing to make the days go faster, and it worked!

I'm on CD29, no sign of AF -no bloating, no PMT (which has happened like clockwork 2 days before AF since I was 13 - DH most relieved).

Also, tits are HUGE. None of my bras fit - I'm Mrs 4-tits. Most shaming.

If AF doesn't arrive, I'll test Saturday morning. I would test on Friday, but DH is going to an awards ceremony, and if it's a BFP will probably not be able to resist telling half his company.

Lotta and mummytojake - how you feeling?

Wannabe - I really feel for you at the moment - mega frustrating.

My Doctor friend didn't test for either of her PGs until 2 weeks after she was due. Who the hell has that much self-control?

wannaBe1974 · 03/05/2006 12:33

hiya all, ll and mymmytojake am keeping everything crossed for you :)

CD45 here, don't even really know why I'm still counting, lol. Woke up feeling fine actually, no nausia or anything, but now I've just got back from dropping ds off at preschool am feeling nausious, could just be because I've been out in the warm though :).

laughalot · 03/05/2006 12:08

mummytojake lets hope we arent imagining things, its hard not to think about it.

mummy2jake · 03/05/2006 11:27

laughalot · 03/05/2006 10:34

Jenswish · 03/05/2006 08:30
