Just popping in briefly as I have a mountain of ironing staring at me...

Hello purpleaura nice to have you with us. Yes, we are quite an 'elite' group at the moment - I think the title is so cryptic nobody new stumbles in. Oh, I will definitely put a good word in for you with Mr Stork.

Flowers, I feel a bit horrid but I have to confess that my first emotion on hearing about the royal baby was a sharp pang of jealousy.

LoveYou hope today went ok at work. I just think we have different approaches - not better, not worse. I would love to be as positive and enthusiastic as you, but I guess I'm trying to protect myself from too much disappointment.

flowersfortea · 03/12/2012 20:35

Hi all, thanks for your messages. Massive glass of red wine in hand watching the royal variety performance... And have savoured several cups of tea today! As you said LoveYou, I'm glad to know my cycle has some sort of pattern although would have loved to have a BFP !

Wierd how DH found out about Kate Middleton before me!

Welcome purpleaura join in the fun! I just had my 'first ' 2WW and that was so strange, never been actively hoping for a late period before!

purpleaura · 03/12/2012 15:39

Hello fellow ttc-ers! V excited to be joining this elite group (thanks loveyou for the invite :) ) DP and I have just begun ttc and before now I had no idea that it would be such a long wait for that magic bfp! How slowly can a month go by?! I'm so reassured that there are other people going through exactly the same thing at exactly the same time.

I am very pleased to have had what might turn out to be my last period for 9 months! DP keeps telling me not to get my hopes up, that it might not all happen so quickly...and I know I that he's absolutely right but its so hard not to!!

I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for us all. bridget - can you send the stork over to me too please?!

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 03/12/2012 06:54

flowers that sucks am sorry af reared her ugly head but at least you've got a short cycle and can try again soon...fx for you. In the meantime enjoy wine and banned foods while you can because it wont be long!

bridget it aint over til its over! Did the spotting stop or turn into af? If it is af am so sorry - treat yourself to some chocolate and look forward to trying again v.soon, at least the wait isnt too long.

You're both so much more practical than me, you have a much better attitude about ttc and you'll both get your bfp very soon!

Oh, and it definitely isn't implantation bleeding. A 26 day cycle isn't that odd for me. I sort of hover around 28 days, but a couple of days either way isn't that unusual.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 02/12/2012 16:47

Hello Flowers, nothing like finally buying a test to tempt AF out of hiding - she really is such a terrible tease!!

Glad you are out of that horrible limbo now though, and onwards and upwards for next month.

I'm on cycle day 25 and more certain than ever that I won't be having an August bundle; classic PMS symptoms, very un-pregnant boobs and the start of spotting. It's been a strange month really. On the one hand, my body has been very kind and not tricked me into thinking I could be pregnant. Yet, on the other, it's been rather dull not having the odd secretly hopeful day.

C'mon stork - please, please fly in my direction very soon and stop off at Flowers' place en route!...(LoveYou I'm hoping he's already paid you a visit)

flowersfortea · 02/12/2012 15:49

Hi girls

Loveyou I hope you have had a good couple of days now and going back to work this week can only surely start to get a bit easier especially as you get into the routine of it. Good luck Smile

Well things here this weekend were getting weirder and weirder because I was getting more and more overdue! So studied the pregnancy tests in tescos this afternoon and agreed with DH to do a test today - but then, just as I toddled off the loo with stopwatch and stick, discover AF has arrived in true tardy fashion! So looks like we at least know my body is working post-pill, but no BFP for another month or so. To be honest I'm just glad to know either way, with or without resorting to testing, because it was so strange each day to not have a period yet no real symptoms of pregnancy or other signs to help us know! I hope you girls have better luck this month!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 01/12/2012 20:48

Oh LoveYouForever it sounds like it was an incredibly difficult day - well done for getting through it.

I'm the worst person in the world to give advice on this I'm afraid, but I'm happy to listen whenever you want.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 30/11/2012 23:04

Thanks for the support bridget and flowers...it was painful leaving dd. Cried leaving her, cried on the train, cried in the toilets most of the day. Please tell me this gets better. I want to quit.

flowersfortea · 30/11/2012 21:19

Evening all.

Loveyou how did you find it?
Thank goodness it's the weekend already (at last). I had a long and grumpy day at work but luckily had bought easy dinner and threatened with dire consequences Asked DH to cook tonight, funny how that can make life seem better! And he found chocolate for pudding :-)

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 30/11/2012 12:32

LoveYouForever it's lunchtime already. Chin-up, hang on in there, and it'll be the weekend before you know it.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 30/11/2012 09:40

Morning Creamtea1, I think December is a really good month to give a more relaxed approach a try. Like you say, there is so much other fun stuff to keep your brain occupied with and it would be a shame to let over-obsessing about ttc 'take the shine off' such a special time of year.

I don't think it is ever possible to completely switch off, but taking a more casual approach (even just every so often) I think can help prevent ttc becoming too emotionally draining. It has worked for me this cycle anyway.

I'm definitely going to try to spend the festive period appreciating and enjoying
everything I already have. Although, I will make a secret wish to Santa and, if DP wants plenty of 'seasonal greetings' Wink I'll be happy to oblige!

(I love your nickname by the way; it reminds me of sunny summer holidays in Devon scoffing scones)

Creamtea1 · 30/11/2012 08:47

Bridget I think I'm going to try to adopt your attitude now as well. It will be month 4 for me, so this time no opk's, no counting cycle etc. just going to try and dtd regularly and at most keep an eye on what my bodies doing - cm etc. and no testing until I know a period is due.
And yes it will be really hard! Lol. But I think with it being Xmas month it will be easy to be like that as plenty other stuff going on.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 29/11/2012 23:19

Thank you so much bridget already spent the day randomly bursting into tears while dd was napping, so hopefully it won't be as bad as I'm imagining.

Looking forward to poas time and hoping I won't be at work for too long...

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 29/11/2012 22:11

Good luck with tomorrow - I hope you manage to get a good night's sleep.

I'll be thinking of you.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 29/11/2012 11:40

bridget not at all, you sound very sensible, wish I could be sane about ttc its doing my head in and only 1 month in!

OP posts:
BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 29/11/2012 10:32

Oh, really hope I don't sound all "little miss perfect pants" - I'm still doing the odd boob poke and obscure google search - I'm just not letting it play on my mind every second.

It helps that I have quite low expectations of success.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 29/11/2012 10:26

LoveYouForever - I'm just at a stage where I'm fed up of putting myself through a roller-coaster of emotions each month. At the moment, I'm just trying to think it will happen, but I've just got to be patient and enjoy life while I wait.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 28/11/2012 23:17

Thank you bridget, hopefully going back will be easier than I've imagined and dreaded.

bridget and flowers you're both really level headed about ttc whereas I've one full on nuts(!) how are you managing to not freak out like me?? I hat being like this.

OP posts:
BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 28/11/2012 21:04

LoveYouForever I didn't realise your return to work was due to happen so soon. No wonder you've been feeling emotional about it all. Like flowers, I hope, together with your DH, you can put plans in place that work for the whole family.

Mini Bridget is now nearly 6 and when I look at the children in her class it is impossible to tell whose parents have always both worked full time and whose haven't. They all appear equally happy and well-rounded, and they all seem to enjoy close loving relationships with their mothers.

I know it will be a wrench to be apart from your DD but please do not think it will weaken your bond.

Flowersfortea, so pleased you've popped by! It's great you are managing to keep a level-head about this ttc-malarkey; it's something I'm determined to do this time round.

Don't be jealous of the dog! She is well and truly in the doghouse. Cheeky blighter decided to disappear after rabbits this morning. Initially, I called her and she came running back. So I made a huge fuss of her, gave a tasty treat, and - just as I was enjoying a smug dog owner moment - she looked at me as if to say "Sod this...I want rabbits" and buggered off at top speed.

Finally, after I've stood shivering in the rain for 45 minutes, she decides to come back. To rub salt in the wound, she's clearly soooo very, very, pleased with herself, and trots along with her tail aloft for the rest of the walk.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 28/11/2012 17:56

Welcome to the thread flowers! Am either 1dpo or ov at the moment so I'm going to ave to resist temptation to poas too early over the next 2 weeks...good luck with when you do, make sure you keep us updated.

Any symptoms at all?

OP posts:
flowersfortea · 28/11/2012 15:09

Afternoon all, thought I'd come and join you!

love you sorry to hear about this - I hope you and your DP can find some plans that work for you as a whole family.

Bridget was getting jealous of your dog-related anecdotes on the other thread! Somehow a 5th floor apartment in city centre isn't quite right for a pet, but would love to one day!

On a me note, got through the 2WW without (too much) neurotica, but now in that funny phase where AF should come any day (who knows what the pill had masked in terms of my cycles) but I really don't think I should try and test for at least a week - so being really good and haven't bought any tests yet (or stolen from work...). Good luck to the rest of you! As mentioned on the last thread, some symptoms but probably PMS so trying not to get my hopes up for a few more days at least.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 28/11/2012 02:44

The thing is sorelip we technically could live on one salary but its our housing situation that is pretty much forcing me to go back to work. Plus because we do want a second baby it would be a shame not to take advantage of the maternity leave at my work place which is very good (6 months full pay, then stat, 1years leave + hols), is just I would be prepared to give that up (bigger housing and even a second child) if it meant I could stay at home and raise dd but dh isn't happy with us scraping by and wants my salary for our future. He says in a few short years she will be in full time school and then I will be unemployed and will find it harder to find employment in my field. (Shrugs) I know he is talking sense but the thought of parting from dd full time 5 days a week is heart renching.

OP posts:
Sorelip · 27/11/2012 21:28

Ah shit LoveYou, is there anything at all you can do to afford to live on one salary? Cutting back, or going back part time, anything? I'm sure you've thought through options, I just know that horrible feeling and would do anything to avoid it. The Money Saving Expert website has really good tips on living on less. In fact, I'd credit the site for my being able to be a SAHM, and not have astronomical amounts of debt.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 27/11/2012 19:08

sorelip due back end of the week Sad

bridget I dont feel very optimistic about this month either but pleased I'm ovulating at least.

Tmi question but does dtd yesterday and more than once today help chances or does it make no difference?

Also has anyone started thinking about names??
