Janey I am a day ahead of you then with my ovulation. What is your EDD? It will be interesting to compare on Monday.

Pipbin · 22/12/2012 19:02

Quoid. AF/BFP due Boxing Day. However, we are at the inlaws and I have no stick to pee on.
So if AF doesn't show then it'll be the 27th.

janey1234 · 22/12/2012 17:59

Say = day.

And I have been date scanned. Basically DTD sun night, got Smile mon morning, DTD mon night, got pg Tues (I think - assuming scanner got it right!)

janey1234 · 22/12/2012 17:56

Hi golden,
I'm not quite as up to speed on this as quod - although I think we ovulated on the same day, and got pg the same month. Anyway I used clear blue ov predictor sticks. DTD on the say before I got a smiley face in the morning, and then the evening of smiley face too.. And it worked Smile. Also used conceive plus, not because I needed it necessarily Blush but because like quod I thought they might like some refreshments en route....

Quodlibet · 22/12/2012 17:52

Yep exactly. Though the -1 was on the cusp of being day 0, as you are planning. And who knows how long it takes for OV to translate to temp rise? So many variables. Oh I forgot to mention that DP was also away abroad until the midnight of CD15 which meant I was hoping OV would hold off until he got back - we had a tiny window!

goldengirl71 · 22/12/2012 17:38

Quod, thank you for sharing. So, you had sex -1 and -2 days before ovulation, am I right? If we DTD again tonight it will be -1, -2, -3 & -5 days before ov. I think I will wait until the early hours of the morning to have sex so that I can count it as Sunday AM on my chart - the day of ovulation itself!

I'm using Pre-Seed because a) Clomid dries up cm and b) I've read sperm will not live beyond a couple of hours without the most fertile of cm being present ie. egg white. I tend to believe this, I am afraid Sad

Quodlibet · 22/12/2012 17:30

Golden, I was using cheap OPKs and charting when I conceived. I like the cheapies because they gave me warning that OV was approaching. The month we hit gold my pattern was:
Day 15 - v v faint line on OPK. Action stations manned.
Day 16 - dtd first thing. DP flies to Sweden. Faint line on OPK in pm.
Day 17 - strong OPK line in pm, DP returns from Sweden (!) dtd last thing at night.
Day 18 - temp has started rising, OPK line fading.
Day 19 - temp above the cover line to stay. FF reckons OV happened on CD 18.

I am yet to be date scanned so it will be interesting to see if it correlates.
It was a month when DP was away a lot - we were v lucky with our targetted shagging.

The other thing of note was it was the first time we had used conceive plus lube, and I maintain that DP's swimmers needed a drink and a snack on their long journey.

Pip that sounds promising... Is it a Boxing Day BFP you are due?

Pipbin · 22/12/2012 15:33

Now 9dpo. Halfway to the inlaws. Had indigestion like cramps. Just stopped at the services and I have red spotting.
My spotting is normally brown ......

goldengirl71 · 22/12/2012 15:29

Thanks, Bellissima and Rache. I have heard that Clearblue smileys can be 'innaccurate' in that they indicate an LH surge before its actual arrival. How else to explain you ovulating four days after your smiley, Bellissima? I use the cheap One Step internet OPKs and always get my positive the day before ov. I have no doubt I'll ovulate tomorrow but with DP being out at a badminton tournament all morning I think I'll pretty much rule out sex tomorrow. There will be plenty of semen in situ when the eggs are released anyhow (yes, I said eggs. I'm on Clomid and two juicy big bastard follicles were there on the scan!)

Rache, I, too, am temping and charting and I would say you ovulated on the Thursday if your temp shifted on the Friday, meaning you ovulated 48 hours after your LH surge. I have read so many reports that ov can actually occur as little as 12 hours after an LH surge or as late as 48. That is a huge window of hours in between for guessing when's best to shag.

Hazle, I quite like Louisa (reminds me of Little Women) but Louise reminds me of Thelma as in the feminist road-trip movie, Thelma & Louise (especially if you say it with a Southern drawl).

Belissima, DP's tests showed he has fast Michael Phelps-esque swimmers, however his 3% morphology leads me to believe that the majority of them are three-headed cyclopses Sad

Rache1S · 22/12/2012 14:27

I really like Louisa Xmas Grin
I am going to bite the bullet and order some.

HazleNutt · 22/12/2012 14:22

As we discussed names, what do you think about about Louisa? I like Louise better, but this would be pronounced differently in French and Estonian, Louisa would be pretty similar.

Oh and bought some maternity trousers already - if your regular trousers are not that comfy any more, do it, even if you are just looking a little chubbier and not actually showing yet. Ahh, the comfort!

Rache1S · 22/12/2012 13:53

Hi Golden and welcome!
I am currently 13+4 and my dating scan suggests conception was on Wed 3rd October. I got the LH surge on the morning of Tues 2nd October and apparently the swimmers should already be waiting and ready to pounce at the first sight of the egg so I would suggest a shag tonight should be enough, but for peace of mind I would probably try to get one in tomorrow morning as well. When I got my BFP I was also temping as well and my BBT didn't go up until Fri 5th October so it wouldn't surprise me if conception was actually on the Thurs 4th. I guess what I am saying is I would shag as much as possible over the next 3 days bleeding nob permitting to make sure all bases are covered!

BelissimaLol · 22/12/2012 13:37

That's a tricky question golden. I had smiley on sat and only shagged on fri and sat. As it turns out I didn't conceive until the wed so I guess it depends how strong the swimmers are! Might be safe to demand one more tomorrow but you might also be ok like I was!

goldengirl71 · 22/12/2012 13:32

Yaaaaay! Just got my LH surge at noon. Yesterday's OPK at 5pm was only a very faint line. When should I assume my LH started (I am obsessed with the 24-36 hr window between LH and ov)? I guess what I'm really asking is do we need to have sex tomorrow aswell as tonight? We DTD Tuesday, Thursday, 1am this morning and are doing it again tonight. Seriously think DP will commit Hara-kiri if I make demands on his bleeding knob manhood tomorrow, too.

janey1234 · 22/12/2012 12:32

Ps bunny where are you? Nearly time for a new thread, and we all know it's your job Wink

janey1234 · 22/12/2012 12:30

Oh I'm definitely going to get that chat - in eating for four out here! And coming back home for Christmas won't help. Mind you, think of all the booze calories I will be saving... More Quality Street for me!

Def not high brow - but when your brother you adore buggers off to the other side of the world, and takes your gorgeous nephew you have no choice but to save and visit them. And much as I like Singapore, it soon gets boring. Air Asia are the equivalent of Ryanair so a few days elsewhere is very cheap!

Last night in Thailand tonight Sad - then a boat trip, tuk tuk, plane and another plane home - then straight to central london for bloods and scan. Got the fear!

BelissimaLol · 22/12/2012 11:54

strike through fail

BelissimaLol · 22/12/2012 11:54

Welcome golden. I too got fed up of joining monthly threads when I met a girl who was desperate for her seventh. No kidding!
You are never too old.
Well I had mw app yesterday and she made me feel so much better. Said most of her patients are over 35 these days and pg is not high risk just because we are elderberries. Told me to be positive unless proven otherwise and as far as she can see I'm doing well but may be eating too much and was told to slow down or I'll end up an elephant

goldengirl71 · 22/12/2012 11:21

Aw, thank you ladies for your welcoming posts. I will try to read back as much as possible to have a right good nosy get a picture of who you all are.

I admit to being a tad worried that you may all be a little high-brow for me, what with your travels to Borneo. The closest I ever came to Southeast Asia was watching Proboscis monkeys shag at Chester Zoo when I was eight Hmm

janey1234 · 22/12/2012 10:17

Hey goldengirl and welcome Smile. Can completely understand why you left the other thread; I understand that the desire to have a second/thurs/fourth child must be almost overwhelming. However I just cannot believe it's as stressful or as powerful a desire as trying for your first; I think we'd all agree we'd rather have one than none. Sorry about your mmc too; a few of us have been there too Sad

Hazle good point re Malaysia. Borneo is nice too, although I only went for four days, and was with my nephew who was two at the time, so we didn't get much chance to see that much of it.

Am on phone so can't remember (not baby brain, just old) if it was you mother, but re salmon I'm just not the person to ask as I haven't really had MS. However I had a weird aversion to some foods, the thought of which made me gag, and one of those was salmon (oddly just cooked - smoked was fine!) So who knows, but Fx it's a good sign!

Quodlibet · 22/12/2012 10:15

Welcome goldengirl - I reckon you are in the right place here, we are all very friendly. I agree with you about the sperm/responsibility/why should they not have to deal with the pressure too thing. Sorry to hear about your mc too.

HazleNutt · 22/12/2012 10:07

Welcome goldengirl, of course TTC the first is very different, everything is new and unknown, so you should feel at home here. We've had many BFPs on this thread already!

MotherOfCleo · 22/12/2012 10:07

p.s sorry to hear about the mc goldengirl Sad

Its hard when people already have what we want so badly....bubba number 1....but think they are in the same place as us. They already have someone calling them mummy, we dont Sad we will soon thoughGrin

goldengirl71 · 22/12/2012 10:05

Just reading back a little of the thread and I can hugely empathise with those whose DP's are suffering 'anxiety issues' around ovulation. My DP finds it monstrously difficult to ejaculate around ovulation and, despite my drawing a veil over the OPK/charting regimes and trying to fudge the date of ovulation..he knows. He knows because I demand initiate sex far more frequently and start to cry if he can't finish the job. I do not apologise for the pressure he is under; he has a seven year-old son from a previous relationship and I will go and prostitute myself in a Mumbai slum if he doesn't get me pregnant soon.

He is as desperate as I am for us to have a baby but, with all due respect to my selfless and wonderful man, it is simply not good enough to abandon sex when the pressure is on. I literally feed him his Viagra. I tell him exactly when I need semen in me and he has to comply. There is no point pretending anymore that romance and relaxation has a place in our sex life around ovulation. It is actually quite liberating to be able to admit that this is now a job - a mission which DP simply has to accomplish. I don't think it's too much to ask our DP's to step up to the plate three or four times around ovulation and I refuse to feel guilty about his anxieties when I am 41 and going insane with childlessness. Thankfully we have a lovely respectful relationship where we can come together (not like that!) afterwards and lick each others wounds (not like that, either!) when things have gone awry.

The simple fact is that sperm is needed to make a baby - and lots of it. I don't buy this 'sperm can live up to five days nonsense' and I don't believe we should pussyfoot around our DP's either. A month is a fucking long time to wait for the next opportunity.

MotherOfCleo · 22/12/2012 10:04

Hi goldengirl welcome to the PMA club Smile

I have a random question, if this is my month for a BFP, which I hope it is, then it woulf be early days! I'm only 4 pos 3 DPO but last night when cooking salmon which I usually love I was gagging, I didnt actually eat it in the end as I couldnt face it. I think this is far to early to be a peggo symptom, but am hopeful as always Wink......what do you lovely ladies think?
