Aquarius & Happy I'm sure everyone is different and some probably OV straight after LH surge, but it is probably worth bearing in mind that maybe DTDing for a few extra days might just pay off.

We had DTD on the Monday and Tuesday but didn't DTD on the Wednesday (can't remember why), but the only reason we DTD on the Thursday is because I was in bed reading up on BBT temping and I read that if you are TTC you should be DTD right up until the temperature rise confirms OV, which still hadn't happened at that point. DH was snoring away next to me so I woke him up and insisted we needed to DTD and I am certain that's the one which knocked me up Xmas Grin DH now refers to our baby's conception as 'the midnight rape.' Xmas Grin

Aquarius1 · 08/12/2012 17:36

Hi rach that's v interesting re smiley face and conception times .... We dtd on smiley face day but then didnt get round to dtding for a few days after... Xmas Hmm think we need to up our game so to speak

Thanks you & brave for the encouragement in the meantime Xmas Smile

Rache1S · 08/12/2012 17:04

I only did BBT for 1 cycle and didn't start until CD6 because the thermometer took ages to arrive off tax-dodging Amazon. Nothing much happened on the temperature front until CD 14 so I wouldn't say it's too late to start.
I tested the next day after the smiley and got nothing so the LH surge must have been just on the Tuesday even though it seems I didn't OV until Thursday or even Friday.

happylass · 08/12/2012 12:43

Hmmm that's interesting. Thanks Rach. Did you keep on testing after you got the Smile? I tested 3 days in a row last month and only got the Smile on the 2nd day. Assumed I'd OVd once it had disappeared but maybe not.....
Also, going to try the temperature thing this cycle but only just managed to get the right thermometer today. Will be cd4 tomorrow. Is this too late to start?

Rache1S · 08/12/2012 11:55

I have no idea why a © has appeared on the end of that!

Rache1S · 08/12/2012 11:53

Great news about your scan Hazle. I am both excited and nervous for ours on Friday.

To all you TTC ladies using the Clear Blue OV tester, after I had a scan last week I was accurately dated at 10+3 when I thought I was 10+4 or 10+5, so it means that I officially conceived on Friday 5th October. The reason I am telling you this is because I had the smiley face on the Clear Blue on the morning of Tuesday 2nd October so I didn't conceive until 3 or 4 days later, which is much longer than I had thought. My temperature also went up on Friday 5th. Apparently it can take 12 hours for the swimmers to reach the egg so I guess the shag that did the job for us was on Thursday 4th. I just thought this might be useful information for those of you planning your shagging around that joyous smiley face Xmas Grin©

navis176 · 08/12/2012 11:30

Bunny - sorry, I'm massively unimaginative...hopefully someone else will be way more creative! I tend to be too overexcited and just run around waving a stick about Xmas Grin

navis176 · 08/12/2012 11:29

Hazle - your scan sounds amazing - cannot wait until I have one of those! Really Xmas Smile for you but also a little Xmas Envy

One of the other threads I'm on everyone seems to be getting bfp on 2nd time of trying - grrr...stupid fertile people Xmas Envy (well, ok, I get bfps fairly easily, but they just don't grow, grrr) Just having one of those days where it feels like it's never going to happen [takes deep breath, rant over]

Hope everyone's having a nice start to the weekend

Bunnygirlie · 07/12/2012 23:27

Hazle I intend to! Just need to kick this cold to the kerb so that mid week we can get down to it lol.
Am thinking this month will just try and DTD every other day rather than waiting for positive ov stick which just piles on the pressure and stress!

Talking of proposals, mine was rather nice. I never thought it was going to happen, we'd been together 5 years, I drunkenly mentioned this one night and he said just you wait. A few months later we went to London for a delayed birthday trip, went on the london eye, it suddenly dawned on me what was about to happen when I realised we were in a pod on our own (apart from guide) with a bottle of fizz and choc truffles and then he dropped to one knee, even though I knew it was going to happen I still burst into tears, not sure if I even said yes lol.

So if I ever get my BFP I will need a dramatic way to tell him!!! Ideas welcome...

Just popping in to say a quick hello and congrats hazle :) Have been travelling and took an (enforced) break from MN, which helped me forget about the whole TTC thing for a bit :)

BottleRed76 · 07/12/2012 14:52

Hey everyone
Having a lovely day off work pottering around and recovering from last night's mulled wine!!

Happy Sorry to hear AF turned up, but if it?s early at least you?re not wasting 4 days of waiting. You can get busy again sooner and booze over xmas to celebrate your engagement!

Milestones like New Year and birthdays do seem to be a big thing. I was really naffed off when AF arrived last time because it was my last chance to have a due date before I turn 37. Tooooooo much thinking!!!

Captain Sorry to hear you have an uninvited guest. Hope you manage to start the eviction process soon.

Pip Another CBFM user!! I love mine but I do need to remember to get busy from the first high, which caught me out this month. Tricksy Ovaries!!! Why can?t they just work to an agreed schedule and stick to it?!?!?

Great news Hazle. Must have been lovely and reassuring to see!

Sorry escorpion. Fx for next month.

Nothing to report here. Trying to make arrangements to do things over xmas with mates that I know I probably won?t want to do if I get a BFP next weekend. I figure that if a BFP was really really inconvenient then it?s more likely to happen! Makes sense to me??..

HazleNutt · 07/12/2012 14:35

Envy Bangkok. Want some Som Tam now..

janey1234 · 07/12/2012 14:21

Hi from Bangkok!
Popping in briefly to say

  • hazle, that's amazing news. Am so, so happy for you both. Absolutely brilliant! SmileSmileSmile
  • happy, also massive congratulations, such lovely news. BFP next please!

Off to sleep, an beyond tired....

HazleNutt · 07/12/2012 13:23

aww Bunny it will be your turn soon! If OV is due over the weekend, you better start working on it at least mid-week!

happylass · 07/12/2012 13:22

Haha Hazle glad it's not just me. Malaysia sounds perfect! Away in Bath next weekend and Edinburgh for New Year so sone potential for romance there. But to be honest, I want the ring now!!

Bunnygirlie · 07/12/2012 12:58

Oh Hazle I did tear up a bit reading your post, so glad your scan went well but so incredibly jealous!

Sorry to hear that escorpian AF really is a bitch!

I have the lurghy so hoping its all gone by next weekend for ov days, according to my apps its due on a weekend and we've taken the friday and monday off too so fingers crossed no work stress, building work nearly done so FX no house stress, just TTC stress aaaaaaagh lol

HazleNutt · 07/12/2012 12:51

happy our proposal was pretty much the same. DH asks one Friday: want to go to town tomorrow, do some shopping? Me - well, I guess, but I don't really need to buy anything. Him: I though we might want to look at some rings..

So we got the rings, but I told him that I still want a proper proposal too, and up to him to decide when he does it, until that I don't consider ourselves engaged. Got the proposal in Malaysia, New Year's Eve, during fireworks. Were travelling with my family, so they were present, everybody cried, as you do. Indeed better story to tell than a Friday morning "wanna buy a ring?" question.

HazleNutt · 07/12/2012 12:47

We just had a department Xmas dinner yesterday and boss, while remembering last year's events also started talking about a colleague who had a baby last year, in June. That oh yes, I remember thinking that Kathy here was getting a bit chubbier this time last year, but didn't make the connection..
I quickly tried to suck the stomach in. Grin

Quodlibet · 07/12/2012 12:25

Ahhh great news Hazle! How fantastic it must feel to have passed that milestone. Mine is 2 weeks away on Monday which still feels like an age. I am dying for some actual evidence that something is going on in there other than this awful bloating which is now pretty much the only symptom. This morning I woke up feeling like I had just eaten a massive Xmas dinner, but also hungry for breakfast. It's so confusing (and uncomfortable!). Going for a long beach walk tomorrow which hopefully might get things moving a bit.

I told my colleague/friend last night (we run a company together) and he was a bit surprised, and also I think a little bit worried - we've for such a big year this year.

escorpion · 07/12/2012 12:13

Congrats Happy!! What a lovely moment for you Hazle!

I am out this month, the bitch turned up this morning Xmas Sad and I am out for next month as my Mum is coming to stay with us over Xmas for three weeks which runs over the entire shagging cycle. As we have a small 1 BR appartment, not sure how we are going to overcome this. Oh well, on the bright side I can have a Wine over Xmas. Not liking this game at all.

Purplemonster · 07/12/2012 11:46

Aww congratulations Happy! That's so exciting!

Glad you had a nice scan Hazle, I still feel like I have to wait FOREVER for mine, it's only two weeks away but I'm IMPATIENT Grin

happylass · 07/12/2012 11:08

That's lovely Hazle! Must be amazing to see your little one on the screen. Can't believe your all having your 12 week scans already. Only seems like yesterday you were getting your BFPs!

Unfortunately I don't have a lovely proposal story to tell the grand kids as DP doesn't have a romantic bone in his body bless him! We were out Christmas shopping and he just dragged me off to the jewellers saying "Come on, I want to buy you a ring". I was like "Whaaaaaaat?" and he said "Yeah let's get married". This was about half hour before closing time so didn't even get the ring! Going back tomorrow though when I will make him get down on one knee and do it properly!! Going to carry on with the TTC for a while yet before we think about wedding plans Grin

HazleNutt · 07/12/2012 10:40

Well at the moment it's more like: "oh dear, it really is a baby! what have we done!?!" Grin
