Funny old day. Didn't have the CVS in the end as 'the Prof' was a bit more positive in his outlook than the previous doc I saw and recommended I wait to get my Harmony result. The wait is on...
Hope everyone else is ok? x

backwardpossom · 09/01/2013 22:14

Thinking of you yikes Thanks

buzzybeetop · 09/01/2013 21:43

Just wanted to say Yikes I'm so sorry. Hope today's gone ok.

oo00PIXIE00oo · 09/01/2013 20:11

dorita I was 32 when I had my DD 10 years ago, had an MC at 6 weeks and an MMC at 10 weeks last year - EPU told me to give my body a little rest before tryin again but hoped to see me back soon! At 42 next birthday we will try :) x

Dorita75 · 09/01/2013 20:10

Thanks everyone, and for the stats cheese I've been excited for the last week and feel like I've had a big jolt of reality (that I was blocking out) even though we don't know anything more than we did before....it's going to be a looooooooong 9 months if this one sticks!

Jollyb · 09/01/2013 19:41

dorita I'm a spring chicken at 35. Sounds a lot older than the 32 I was when I had my daughter.

Phew what a day at work. On train home and just demolished a whopper.

yikes hope you're ok

Congratulations ladyflump talk to your mh team, plenty of people take ad and stronger meds during pg. How much is your dose? If you do decide to come off them it's better to do it slowly with support from your team.

yikes I'm really sorry, I know they usually have threads in antinatal/testing with regards cvs and high indicators for downs x

35 weeks now. Stitch coming out on Friday. I'm now further along than I was when my waters broke with ds2&3 so it seems my cervix was to blame for the prem births

lotsofcheese · 09/01/2013 18:55

Hi Dorita - just to answer your question: yes, most miscarriages are caused by chromosomal abnormalities, which increase with age, especially over 35. Above 40, it's even higher & the miscarriage rate in your 40's is pretty much 50/50.

I'm 40 and have had 2 m/c in the last 18 months- am currently 21.5 weeks pregnant. So it's still possible to have a healthy pregnancy at this age. Once you get past 12 weeks, the risk of chromosomal abnormalities at 40 is about 1% - which I don't think is too bad.

Good luck, hoping your bad luck is all behind you & this is a sticky one! X

HJBeans · 09/01/2013 18:16

Congrats on the BFP, ladyflump!

dorita, I'm 36, will be 37 by my current due date.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 09/01/2013 18:09

dorita I'm 39 now, was 38 when I conceived this one. 37 sounds good to me! I know lots of people who conceived in their late 30's

Dorita75 · 09/01/2013 09:59

Morning ladies, just a question...we've just seen fertility doc and told him our bfp news. He said our mc last time would have been due to my age and my body rejecting an abnormal set of cells (my words there) There is no reason to expect another one, we have as much chance as anyone else my age of having a baby. So my question is, for my own reassurance, how old are all you lovely ladies who are pg now? I'm 38 next month. Thank you in advance x

Dorita75 · 09/01/2013 07:15

I'm so sorry yikes I can only imagine how you're feeling but hope you get all your results soon xx

Congratulations ladyflump welcome to the gang! Good chat with your doc should answer your questions? We're off to fertility clinic this morning, hope they don't tell us off for not cancelling but got questions for them and some results due

tasmaniandevilchaser · 08/01/2013 21:31

ladyflump congrats! Smile lovely news,

tasmaniandevilchaser · 08/01/2013 21:30

yikes so sorry, a very difficult time for you Sad, keep us posted, thinking of you

MrsHerculePoirot · 08/01/2013 20:18

yikes big hugs. Hope you are OK, so sorry you are in this position.

ladyf - congratulations!

A friend let me know she was pregnant yesterday. I was so pleased for her, and she was so sweet not wanting to upset me bless her. Of course when she said that I then cried, but all was fine. I swing wildly between being positive that this is the month and thinking it will just never happen for us again and I should move on.

backwardpossom · 08/01/2013 19:01

Big hugs, yikes, hope the CVS goes ok xx

Congrats ladyflump xx

Jollyb · 08/01/2013 18:00

ladyf I'd definitely ask your midwives or GP about being referred for an early scan. Some trusts will others are a bit stricter. I had a routine early scan this time but this was only as I had been seen in the recurrent MC clinic. If you can't get one this way, for your sanity it may be worth having a private scan at around 8 weeks for reassurance - costs between £50-£100

Now regarding the citalopram - I'd speak to your GP but in your position I wouldn't rush to come off it. Anxiety tends to worsen during pregnancy and I think you'd be at risk of relapsing. Citalopram is one of the safer antidepressants to take during pregnancy - I know this as I've just been started on it. This was after a long discussion with the local perinatal psych team. I'm on 10mg and 2 weeks in am feeling much better (though this could be down to coming to the end of the first trimester too).

Many congrats again -

LadyFlumpalot · 08/01/2013 17:33

Ok,

So, I have been absent for a while, for which I apologise. Basically I went crazy. Well, not quite, but ended up sobbing at the GP about how I couldn't cope, and how I was sure I had caused my last miscarriage (in a row with DH, I yelled that I didn't want to be pregnant).

Anyways, I'm on Citralopram and am seeing a mental health team so feel a lot better. I was in such a shit place I didn't want to inflict myself on you lovely lot. Also, reading Mumsnet became one of my anxiety things, stupid, huh?

Have caught up now and have a few questions if I may?

I miscarried in November, and BFP'd today, should I book in early with the midwives for an early scan? Also, can I still take the happy pills? Bit scared that if I stop taking them I will go downhill again...

Sorry for the long, self indulgent ramble.

Also, am spotting a bit, but had a very strong BFP, could this be implantation or breakthrough?

YikesHereWeGo · 08/01/2013 15:06

Don't be daft flump, what's not to get excited about - a BFP is the Best Thing Ever! Great news Grin

Jollyb · 08/01/2013 14:50

yikes what a stressful time for you. I'm glad things are happening quickly. Will be thinking of you.

ladyf many many congrats. It's been a good week for BFPs

Congratulations lady....xxx

LadyFlumpalot · 08/01/2013 13:46

Well, I feel like a bit of a cow posting this after Yikes's post below, but I have just pee'd in a plastic cup at work and... BFP!

I'm sorry for what you are going through Yikes. Hmm

HJBeans · 08/01/2013 13:19

Oh yikes, I'm so very sorry. Sad

YikesHereWeGo · 08/01/2013 11:22

Thanks all. Just getting over the shock. Been sent home from work. My 1:2 result was from the combined test at FMC. Harmony results not due til next Weds but as the combined score is soooo high they are recommending CVS ASAP anyway - likely tomorrow. But they didn't seem to be giving me any glimmers of hope that this will have a happy outcome. Blood results were bad, nasal bone absent, tricuspid regurgitation, absent ductus venosus. All pointers of Down's. Not looking forward to the next couple of weeks.
Hope you all have a better time of it than me. Someone's got to get the good luck ;-) xx

HJBeans · 08/01/2013 08:09

So, so sorry to hear that, yikes. Is it based on the FMC or NHS tests? Have your Harmony results come back yet? And what are your next options?

I've been reading alot about the various tests on the forums (my NHS NT not until 13w2 so wondering about going private to give more time to consider, etc.) and read a lot of stories about people whose NHS odds were terrible but had good odds from FMC tests and happy outcomes. I hope yours is the same.

Will be thinking of you as you face this lousy situation. I really, really feel for you. Xx
