The old thread was getting chocca so lets start again lovely ladies -

Bunnygirlie - 32, married, TTC since June, AF due 5th Oct

OP posts:
cwtching · 20/09/2012 12:56

oops hit return by accident! I was going to say that was 3 days pre AF due I can't remember exactly but the packet said it was something like 98% accurite 3 days before and have been having lots of AF cramping just no AF yet Confused.

cwtching · 20/09/2012 12:51

Smile me too normally Janey its just I had a negative on Sunday using FRER - that would be

HazleNutt · 20/09/2012 12:37

Should probably add my chemical/mc I had in September to the list as well.
AF due - no idea, I'd guess Oct 15?

janey I'll be 34 in 2 weeks. I know, not exactly ancient, but still. When my mum had me, they marked her records as "elderly primigravida". She was 25!

And you should be shagging a few days before OV, as you want to have the sperm present and waiting when you ovulate.

Oh, just googled the spelling of primigravida and you know what a medical dictionary (McGraw-Hill Concise Dictionary of Modern Medicine. © 2002) says?
elderly primigravida
Obstetrics A woman who delivers her first child after age 35; these women are often professionals who delay childbearing to pursue a career

WTAF? In a medical dictionary?

janey1234 · 20/09/2012 12:27

cwitching - am VERY impressed with your ability to resist POAS! I would definitely have done it seventeen times by now if I were you!

cwtching · 20/09/2012 11:40

Still no AF... sorry I am lingering a bit long at the top of the list! Should I test again or is there no point? I hate seing the BFN.

Thanks Hazel it looks lovely. I'm always looking for new holiday destinations and really like slightly 'out of the way' places Smile. Love the sound of your OH's book - Saving Private Ryan! V. funny.

I'm totally agreed that waiting is so frustrating and annoying and sad. Particularly when you are used to having so much control over other things in your life.

Lol - you're back on the list!:

janey1234 · 20/09/2012 10:44

hazle - you're only 33, you have loads of time Smile. And horrible as the 'chemical pregnancy' (hate that phrase) was last month, at least it proves that you both have, urm, working parts...

Anyone know how long after you detect the LH surge that you actually ovulate? Got a hilarious text from my bf yesterday saying (this is honestly a quote) "is it worth shagging tonight?". Who says romance is dead Wink

HazleNutt · 20/09/2012 08:11

Quod try with some "pregnancy for men" books - my DH was highly amused as the one he is reading compared what happens to sperm after orgasm to first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan. A carnage!

Lol I feel the same, mindset has definitely changed after my last month's chemical pregnancy.

The failure has such an effect on me personally probably partly due to the fact that I am one of those horrible women you read about in Daily Fail, who postponed having children because they wanted to concentrate on their career (nothing to do with the fact that I only met DH 4 years ago Hmm).

But I have indeed been concentrating on the career while I was looking for him and am used to generally getting what I want - just have to work hard enough. So it is really frustrating that I have little to no control over what happens with this egg floating around..Kind of "What do you mean I could not have a baby? Everybody else can! Of course I can!!" Grin

Lolcbcblemonlime · 20/09/2012 06:39

I am with you all on the frustration thing. Up until my mc I wanted a baby but wasn't desperate if you know what I mean. Then fell pg in June and since then it feels like my life has changed. The worst bit is that DH does not want the 'timetable sex' as he calls it so it's even harder! Pretending to be in the mood after a long day at work is well hard Sad

Quodlibet · 19/09/2012 22:41

Haha. I did explain the process between ovulation and implantation to DP the other day and he was genuinely amazed - though clearly he's forgotten it all as has been asking me if I'm pg at 6DPO. Have tried getting him to read 'Taking Care of Your Fertility' with approximately zero success.

Rache1S that 20% thing is a bugger isn't it? It's like every month, even if you do all the sex at the right time, you're basically just getting to the starting line where you get to roll a dice and hope for a 6.

ella0 · 19/09/2012 17:53

Lolcbcblemonlime It's a relief to know I'm not the only one on here it has affected. I wonder if anyone has let them know.

Rache it's not over until af arrives; some people don't get a BFP until a few days after it's due to arrive.

I find the whole month goes slowly - waiting for ov and then waiting for af. I'm wishing my life away more than ever.

Quodlibet I'm 1DPO now and I'm imagining what could be happening in there!

When we started ttc I bought a fab book that shows what's happening on every day of a pregnancy (from day 1 - 1st day of af). Month 1, I was so excited, reading what was happening every day (especially when I got the spotting). And then af came. So it's now gathering dust until I get my BFP!

Rache1S · 19/09/2012 17:08

HazleNutt I will make sure AF has arrived before I pop the cork! I tested with a Sainsburys cheapie which reckons it is 87% accurate when used 2 days before AF. I read somewhere that for every attempt to conceive you stand a 20% chance of success so my current chances this month are 13% of 20% =

janey1234 · 19/09/2012 14:47

Oh and hi max and lol - glad you found us! x

janey1234 · 19/09/2012 14:46

I know - sooooooo slowly. RIDICULOUS. Feels like I've been trying for about a year and a half, whereas I only came off the pill six weeks ago. How does that happen?

Sorry to say this everyone, but in my (massively limited) experience, it gets worse: when I was (accidentally, ironically) pg last year the 12 weeks before the miscarriage were the longest of my life. I couldn't really do anything but think about the pregnancy, and time virtually stood still. Surprised I didn't get the sack... Then or now....!

Think I'm ovulating now-ish (due to smiley face yesterday morning, and this morning actually - can that be right?!) and dreading the 2ww already...

Fingers crossed for us all.

x

MaxDaisy · 19/09/2012 14:29

Well to fill you in, got my AF with a vengence! Just finished so i get to try again this cycle, however really really really wanted that BFP for my birthday this saturday but guess i'll have to settle for lots of lovely wine. (on the brightside though, hubby says he feels bad so has spoilt me a bit more this year, yay!!!)

HazleNutt · 19/09/2012 14:16

Grin that's why I got DH the book about pregnancy. Last time I mentioned that it's around OV time and he wakes up next morning "So, are we..??"

Quodlibet · 19/09/2012 13:30

Oh god REEAAAAAALLLLLY SLOOOOWWWWWWLY.
Have just been sitting here wasting time thinking about the possibility of a free-floating little fertilised egg drifting around waiting to implant - or not. DP seems to have even less patience than me and keeps texting to see if I'm up the duff yet.

HazleNutt · 19/09/2012 13:23

cwtching well we were there a couple of years ago, so maybe they have built something new, but we stayed here: www.idyllicresort.com/
Lovely resort and it was at the end of the Sunrise beach, so it was nice and quiet. If you want more life on your doostep, stay on Sunset beach. But the island is small, so it's just a few minutes walk from one side of the island to the other anyway.

rache1 if the AF is not even due yet, it might be too early to test, go easy on the wine!

My cycle is probably messed up after the chemical so it's time for us get busy, just in case. Persona monitor claims it's already a "red" day, but they say the monitor might not be accurate after a m/c and it will give you red if in doubt.

Is it just me or is time going by reaallllyyy slowly since you started TTC? Especially those days after OV and before AF?

Pipbin · 19/09/2012 13:10

I'm liking this thread, we are all over 30. Brilliant.
Not sure when AF is due as I seem to have ov'd a week early!

Lolcbcblemonlime · 19/09/2012 12:31

Meeee please! Can I go back on the list?
Lolcbcb 38, married, had mc in July. Ttc ever since. Was just "seeing what happened" until then!

cwtching · 19/09/2012 12:22

Sorry about the BFN Rache but Grin for the Wine and the "practicing".

Hazel I just did a google image search for Koh Lipe, it looks absolutely beautiful - do you have any tips for places to stay on the island?

Rache1S · 19/09/2012 10:31

I cracked and did a test this morning and it was unsurprisingly BFN Shock AF due in 2 days so I cheered myself up by ordering an OPK and a BBT thermometer for next month. Grin I'm not too disheartened as it was our first ever month TTC and I quite frankly enjoyed the "practicing." Wink I am also looking forward to a nice Wine at the weekend. Every cloud....

Lolcbcblemonlime · 19/09/2012 05:28

Hello ladies
I've been away for a week and all my threads have disappeared!!
So I'm now rejoining if I may Smile
Have I missed any exciting bfps?
I'm 11 dpo here with not much to report.
I also had spotting with pregnacare so decided not to take it anymore. I'm currently taking the wilkinson ones which were on special offer and when I checked content it was pretty similar to pgcare!

cwtching · 19/09/2012 01:30

No AF today but I think it's on it's way! I'm definitely definitely going to try using OPKs this month as it sounds like they do reduce the stress of it a bit! ella I've just booked an appointment with the GP for H and I (we have to wait 3 weeks for one on a sat). We wanted to give it a decent try before we saw anyone as I think normally they say to try for a year and I didn't want to seem neurotic! Wink!

Blimey that's awful re the pregnacare conception! I've been taking pregnacare so i'm defo going to be doing some googling. ella that's terrible with the spotting I would have taken it as a sign too.

mixology it is a tad early to test ... I think there's still hope this cycle!

X

ella0 · 18/09/2012 21:34

rache fingers crossed it is implantation for you.

I'm taking Sainsburys mum & bump tablets now as I can't take my usual multivitamins due to the vitamin A they contain. I haven't had spotting with these (they only contain 100% RDA of vitamins, unlike the Pregnacare conception ones). I did really get my hopes up when I had the spotting, especially as it was on exactly the right days you would normally get it.

zombies I've read that too - that it affects ovulation etc. There's a thread on one forum that goes on for pages, with people talking about the side effects they experienced. Wish I'd read that before I bought it on offer!

mixology I agree with hazel, surely it's way too early to test.

HazleNutt · 18/09/2012 21:16

mix, no, it's simply too early to test.
