Anyone else waiting to TTC?

There was a thread here a while back but I seem to have lost it.

DH and I have decided to start trying in Jan, but I am now getting very impatient! We're going on hols in Dec to sonewhere it would be pretty hideous to be suffering with early pregnancy symptoms, so it makes perfect sense to wait, but it's driving me mad!

It's not so long ago that I was in two minds about getting started and holding on for as long as possible Hmm

Anyone in the same/similar boat?

I don't know whether I belong in here but I'm actually going it alone, I started charting from my September cycle with a view to hopefully starting next year, but need to lose a few stone first Hmm

Bought some folic acid tonight though Grin

KittenCamile · 26/09/2012 18:26

Hey, can I join?! DP and I are starting ttc our first (he has a DD) in dec. Like most of you it seems so far away, I'm getting really impaitent too but me are moving house (extra bedroom for hopeful bump) and I have a huge work thing on that I couldn't risk early pregnancy sickness with.

We are both sooo excited but its hard not to talk to anyone else about it.

We are going for the just shagging plan, I have never been on the pill, we just use condoms and its getting harder for both of us to keep using them, we both want to say 'stuff it' and go for it but we have decided on dec so will try and be good!

MTBMummy · 26/09/2012 13:10

We've had an interesting turn, we've decided if we don't conceive by Xmas - we're going to then delay it another 4 months, as we already a large number of family Birthdays between September and Xmas - so it gets so expensive (and it would be nice to have one birthday we can celebrate in summer)

Malteaser1982 · 26/09/2012 09:05

Quite a lot going on next Jan lol Grin There'll be a baby boom towards the end of 2013 Smile

Had my last breakthrough bleeding starting Monday and this will be my first pill-free cycle. Will see how long it takes for my cycles to get back to normal. I should really start on the folic acid, but at the moment I'm SO SO busy, I really don't have time to pop to the pharmacy. We'll be moving in around 2 weeks' time, possibly less, so atm it's packing packing packing!

Thundercatz · 25/09/2012 19:34

Emmylu I'm glad you've got the folic acid excitement too - never has popping vits been so fun! Grin

Thundercatz · 25/09/2012 19:31

Hi all (courgette love your name! Begs a few questions?!) hope everyone's well! We are all so impatient aren't we?! I wonder if we can try and appreciate the time before pregnancy someone to make the most of this time rather than wishing it away... I will be ttc my first so I guess I have to appreciate what might be the last year or so (though could be longer dep on how long it takes) of it just being dh and I relatively carefree, lots of going out at will, undisturbed sleep and some selfishness.. It's hard though as you don't appreciate what you've got till it's gone - I am trying though! Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

CourgetteSmuggler · 25/09/2012 15:47

OOH Can I join to?

DD1 turned one recently and although I thought I would want to leave it a lot longer DH and I have decided to TTC in January. DH is being deployed to Afghan in April and I'm a terribly moody pregnant woman so it will be perfect that he misses most of it he says Wink

I am so desperate to do it now, but i know it makes sense to wait Sad

MrsWajs · 25/09/2012 15:26

Can I join too please?

Going to start TTC #2 in January as well, although may consider coming off my pill before then and just see what happens. Currently due to finish ADs for PND so want to wait until that's out of my system first.

My DD is 17mo and I have a DSS who is 4.9yo.

NovemberAli Your name looks familiar, have I been on a thread with you befoire? Were you a Frolicker too?

Emmylu · 22/09/2012 18:44

Hi Thundercatz, I've told my 2 very best friends but no-one else. I don't really want the expectant looks every month! I am with you on taking the folic acid, it's the closest thing short of dtd that I can get to TTC! I have also been charting my temps since I came off the pill just to get a bit of a handle on my cycles. I had also planned to lose weight and exercise more but that isn't proving quite as easy......! Blush Biscuit

BoyMeetsWorld · 21/09/2012 23:08

Used to be on cerazette a long time ago. Made me super moody & lost my libido completely lol. Didn't take long to get back to normal - both periods & moods - after coming off it, about 1-2 months.

NovemberAli · 21/09/2012 22:59

Seems like a long time to wait at the moment, am so excited about having a brother or sister for DD.

Has anyone else been taking cerazette? Was taking it as i was BF DD until early this year, but really didn 't get on with it, now cycles are all random!

Thundercatz · 21/09/2012 15:08

It's funny (but comforting) to hear others echoing my own thoughts!

MTBMummy · 21/09/2012 08:43

We're very much taking the approach of letting nature take it's course, although my control freak has started at least noting when I'm ov Blush

Purplemonster · 20/09/2012 20:44

I'm 30 and DP is 32, it will be my first (fingers crossed) DP has already got a 12 year old son. I'm not coming off the pill until the last minute and going to try to relax and go for the 'just shagging' school of thought and see what happens at least until after Christmas to give my body chance to get back to normal. I might get a bit more serious and scientific about it after that Grin

LadyEmmaHamilton · 20/09/2012 20:43

Oh blimey, there's going to be a lot of shagging going on in January!

Can I join too? Starting in Jan, DD just turned two and don't want a big age gap but started a new job this year so need to wait a little longer to qualify for enhanced mat pay Grin. Dp is 34 and i'm 32, we think we'll probably stop at 2 children as i don't think we could afford 3 Smile.

Last time i did the temping/fertility friend thing as i was quite irregular after coming off the pill. Stopped taking pill in march this year and have been having shorter cycles than i used to so hoping things will settle down soon.

BoyMeetsWorld · 20/09/2012 20:23

The only people iv told are my mum (weirdly, as she'll be helping with childcare!) & my closest work colleagues. In a bit of a race with 1 of them as she's going to start TTC same time as me waves if she's lurking on here somewhere

Purplemonster · 20/09/2012 20:14

I'm afraid I have told lots of people, foolish I know but I just couldn't help myself, I feel like I've been waiting sooooo long and now it's getting close I can't NOT talk about it. I'm almost certainly boring everyone at work to tears Smile

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 20/09/2012 19:19

Thunder I know that we need to save a certain amount a month each month I'm pg to cover my mat leave and hopefully a bit aside for initial child care after I go back to work. But can't save that money while crippled with credit cards, so have to clear them before TTC.

If we got a surprise BFP before debt had been cleared we could just about manage but it'd be a struggle and as we are very much trying to plan DC1 it'd be better if we held out until we're debt free.

I'm a bit romantic about it all once we do get going though - am hoping to avoid too much science and join the 'just shagging' philosophy and do the deed every other day!

DP is well up for this plan of action ... Unsurprisingly!!

pinkbuttons · 20/09/2012 17:52

DH is 24 and Im 22, Our DS was unplanned but a completely lovely surprise, we got married and have been very lucky. Now I feel that since have Ds already we want to have all our children first and then I can still have a career thats the plan anyway, also never really wanted a huge age gap between my children, DS is 20 months so feel like soon would be a good time.

Think I will have to stay away from any extra tests as would risk becoming a complete obsessive control freak about the whole thing and DH is more than happy to just DTD every other day throughout the month :) saying that think Im going to struggle to not become obsessed considering I've been counting down the months for the past 4 months already...Blush

Thundercatz · 20/09/2012 17:21

I see exactly what you mean Boy and my doc said just that - don't use tests just get jiggy every 2-3 days.... I guess as long as you can do that you're doing all you can ..but we don't always at the mo. so that is my plan a from jan to just focus on sex every other day at least,,, if I can resist the whole "wanting to know what my chances are each time we do it"! If it doesn't work I may test as I have pretty long and irregular cycles so knowing the window will help ensure we don't miss opportunities. I think reading forums like this and hearing of difficulties sometimes just scare you into over thinking it and assuming there is only one day per month.

BoyMeetsWorld · 20/09/2012 17:09

I can't quite get my head around the point of OV planning unless you're a couple who have sex v infrequently so need to schedule the precise dates or it wouldn't happen at all / you'd miss all chances (not saying this is the situ for any of you!!!) . There's not only 1 day per month you can possibly conceive is there? (or else the millions of women who get preggers unintentionally were mega coincidental). So surely if you just get merrily shagging as often as poss, you've got as much chance as stressing yourself out timing things? Grin

Thundercatz · 20/09/2012 16:15

Haha me too - that's what I'm worried about ! I really want to relax and let it happen but knowing my desire to control and my impatience I'm going to find it hard! Am defo going to try and avoid ov testing etc for a few months and then maybe become more proactive. Well that's the plan! Grin

Malteaser1982 · 20/09/2012 15:37

well, and also because I'm a control freak Hmm Blush

Malteaser1982 · 20/09/2012 15:36

Thundercatz lol first time round was unplanned.

This time round it'll be planned. Reason for opk is also to know when/if I'm ovulating since in Jan I will be having a regular checkup at gynea and want to be able to settle any issues before conceiving.
