Preparing to TTC

Gerbera08 · 21/08/2012 08:24

Hi everyone, My husband and I have decided to start TTC at Christmas so I'm now getting ready to prepare myself for that! I've recently lost about a stone and want to lose a little more to be right in the middle of my healthy BMI. I've also started reducing my anti anxiety meds so that I will be completely off them by December. Is anyone else in the same boat? Are you planning to start TTC soon? Let's start chatting babies and healthy eating so we can be happy, healthy and ready together!! Gerbera08 xxx

Hello country exciting to hear you are now ttc. We're still officially waiting until late December to resume trying but keep taking a few 'risks' here and there. I have a sneaking suspicion that DP is still trying to get me pregnant even though we've supposedly agree to take a break. There seems to be rather too many 'heat of the moment' incidents.

I'd be absolutely delighted to be pregnant but at the same time (following my miscarriage earlier in the year) am looking forward to a Christmas without any ttc or early pregnancy related anxieties.

Hello, can I join Smile I have a 6mo DS and have just been referred to pre conception clinic :-o I have various medical conditions that means I need an ok before we ttc. Should prob start on some frolic acid I guess!! Good luck to those already ttc Smile

countrybumpkin2 · 22/10/2012 14:38

Hello all preparers! How are we all doing? Anyone now ttc? We are! We were going to wait until our anniversary at the start of November but just couldn't think of any reason to wait! Smile We are defo taking the stress free JSing approach for now. Just so excited!

Luisa82 · 17/09/2012 02:11

Oh and also whole heartedly love the idea of a stress free JSing approach xx

Luisa82 · 17/09/2012 02:10

Hi all,

I would love to join this group.

I am 29 (30 in Dec - eek!) DH and I have been married 4yrs and together 5yrs.

I have been taking folic acid, Calcium and vit D3 for about 2 mths.

My diet is ok, stopping alcohol will be hard. I'm a very social drinker but I don't smoke. Exercise could be better.

I have a coil which I have a date to get removed on 5th Nov - woohoo!!! But we are on two minds to whether or not we should wait until after Xmas. Partly to do with hols, my b'day etc and it may be easier not to think about it.

I love baking, enjoy going for walks, love sunny holidays but my biggest passion (don't laugh) is cats!!! I have 2 but dream of a house in the country with 3 cats, a dog and 3 children - not that I have put much thought into it of course!?!? I have also recently started volunteering for the cats protection league (a non-alcohol related activity - woohoo! Go me!!!)

Anyway, pleased to meet you all,

xxx

Hey all!!
The return to school has been terrible for my diet!!!!! I have not stopped eating biscuits and cake! I skived weight watchers today as couldn't face it Blush

Other than feeling fat the return to work has been good but very busy!

Going to get back on with the healthy eating so I don't put back on the stone I've already lost! I also need to start remembering to take the folic acid!

How's everyone else? December is getting closer... Eek!! Grin

Another obsessed one here. Have been broody since December 07. Me and dp got together may 10 and I have finally convinced dp to talk about ttc around Christmas. Dp is very practical and talks about financial implications, wanting to qualify as an accountant, earn 10k more, so i can enjoy being a sahm, enjoy being able to continue treating ds and new baby, not having to worry about money etc. all of which I'd prob think sounded very sensible if I'd only just decided I wanted a baby but iv wanted one for years and now dp is talking about being ready I want one NOW stuff financial implications!!!

It says on the nhs website it's best to have sex at least every other day. Am I right in thinking that during the fertile period that means it would be better to do it every day?

shanghailady · 11/09/2012 01:01

Hi littlehelp, I haven't been too bloated in recent days, although I think it's very common when coming off the pill. I guess it affects everyone in different ways. I'm sure the bloating won't last long. Lucky you that you escaped without a headache!

Good luck with cutting down on your caffeine - yesterday I was so proud of myself for having only had 1 small cup of coffee with breakfast. But mid-morning as I gulped down a cup of tea it dawned on me that was full of caffeine. Then when I went out for lunch I had a can of ginger ale, guess that had caffeine too! Doh... I think tea and pop I can easily do without (as long as I remember...) but coffee is another matter. Let me know how you get on!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/09/2012 14:03

Zombies fingers firmly crossed for you that the PCOS doesn't cause problems. You never know, you might get that BFP sooner than you expect. So much of this ttc business seems to be sheer luck!

Strangely enough I am much more daunted this time around than I was ttc DC1. First time ttc I was in blissful ignorance about everything and completely unprepared for the realities of parenthood.

littlehelp · 10/09/2012 10:55

Hi shanghailady

I am in the same boat been off the pill for coming upto 2weeks,

Not had the headaches but still need my caffine intake in the morning to get me going, i seem to get headache if i dont lol, must have an addiction to it, will try to cut down tho.
Really bloated since coming off the pill did you experience this?

shanghailady · 10/09/2012 01:29

Hi everyone!

I just came off the pill about 3 weeks ago, and started taking a prenatal multi vitamin around the same time. I've been trying really hard to choose what I eat carefully, and have cut down on alcohol ALOT (although still allowing myself a glass of wine or two spread over the weekend)... but coming off the pill has given me the world's worst headache for the last 2 weeks and as a result I can't face coming off my morning caffeine fix yet - this would multiply my headache. Anyone else managed to give up coffee? Any tips?

About me - I am British but I live in Shanghai, very happy to find this forum where I can talk about TTC because I'm ready to burst keeping it secret here! Two of my close friends are 6 months+ in their pregnancies and love talking about it, keep apologising for boring me... I only wish I could join in! Oh and NOT a teacher...

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 09/09/2012 21:45

Anyway no chance of anything happening anytime soon because of my PCOS. Sure we will be headed to IVF this time next year.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 09/09/2012 21:45

Hi Bridget I think what's daunting is having thought about it for the longest time, actually putting myself in a position where something life changing (for better and worse) could happen pretty soon. Ie if it happens there's no going back!
Have bit the bullet anyway- work thing still iffy- but at 32 am not getting any younger and have been with DH for almost a decade so high time Grin

pinkmoonlight · 09/09/2012 19:40

Hi buttons!
I have exactly the same worries as you! I've been on the pill for 9 years and when the lady at the family planning clinic asked me whether or not my periods were regular before I started taking the pill I had no idea at all- can't remember! I'm hoping all will be ok! Am also worried about a) having to tell my head teacher I'm pregnant and b) whether I can work part time after maternity leave. Am being particularly positive, helpful and hardworking at school at the moment! x

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 08/09/2012 23:47

oh Zombies that's exciting - did the job thing work out? Or have you just decided to crack on with it?

If you don't mind me asking, what do you think is behind the cold feet? Do you think it would help to just ditch contraception for a while rather than pro-actively ttc and deliberately DTD at the right times etc. Would that be less daunting?

Although, strangely, I sometimes find the TWW in cycles where I've taken a casual approach harder to cope with. I think it's going through all that waiting and hoping anyway but you don't even know if you stand half a chance that month.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 08/09/2012 00:31

So.. Undecided! Could start TTCing as soon as next month!
Now that it is (probably) upon me I am getting cold feet Confused
On the other hand very long cycle and PCOS so cold feet have to be shoved firmly into metaphorical socks.

littlehelp · 04/09/2012 14:06

Can i join in too please?

Me and my partner are just on the road to ttc, just off the pill this week started on the folic today, i already have a DS but this will be our first together, took me a few weeks last time to conceive from what i am reading 2nd time round may be a bit harder,

HazleNutt · 04/09/2012 13:50

Can I join? We've just started trying for the first one and I'm 34 in a month. Were actually about to start a year ago, but then was diagnosed with thyroid problems (Graves). All sorted out now and i can't find any more excuses not to Grin.

(Have a fertility monitor, I don't think at my age I have those years and years to try randomly.)

countrybumpkin2 · 04/09/2012 13:35

Hello all, hope you are having a good week! Still haven't managed to remember to take take one folic acid tablet yet!!! Bad Me!
On the plus side I lost 1lb last week and every little helps. Had a really good chat with DH about baby making last night and everything was quite positive!

Is it bad to have names for a boy and a girl already chosen? They are family names...........

Off to get the folic acid out the cupboard.....

crazyhead · 02/09/2012 10:38

I'm going to start TTC number 2 in March or April - a bit of time to settle back at work after current maternity leave, though I'd love to start TTC a bit sooner!

I'm 35 (will soon be 36) and I want to lose 10lbs, get on the folic acid, cut down on booze, salt, and get fit. Not at all ambitious then? I'm going to start charting soon just so I'm in as good a shape as possible when I do start.

I'm anxious about getting older too. Time just flies, and there you find yourself in the TTC red zone of the over 35s....

Gerbera08 · 02/09/2012 09:12

Hey ladies Grin

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

My healthy eating has gone totally wrong this week and I've also drank lots of wine and cider! Not good for losing weight.

Good luck to all our teachers for the first week back! I can't believe how quick the holidays have gone.

Xxx

I have good food day and bad food days. I am going to start keeping a food diary. I reckon that's the only way I'll ever stop eating rubbish.
I am really hoping for something to work out (job related) which may mean we can start TTC soon. Fingers crossed.
I would love to start by November but it'll probably end up being later I suppose. Something lovely about being up the duff at Christmastime, I think. As have never been up the duff, couldn't actually say!
