Afternoon all.
Just checking in. Its sooo hard to keep up. Have had a quick flick thru the last few days. Have been loving the erm, plots for the new film. I REALLY want to be in it. Iv always had a feeling I was meant to be famous, im just waiting to be discovered. I could play the lovely midwife, (looking like Kate Beckinsale - with a LOT of make up and soft focus) struggling to conceive due to misbehaving bits, and I could deliver the babies only to find out im also up the duff. Smile

Sorry your feeling crap red It sometimes really gets to you. Ive found more lows than highs in the last 20 months of it. It should be fun. Its shit that sometimes it just isnt. Can your DP whisk you off somewhere nice for a night?

resipsa Do you think we could patent some sort of pregnant women blinkers so that you just dont see them, anywhere!!

resipsa · 24/08/2012 15:01

Red sorry you're feeling crappy. Don't worry too much about your friends going first. Like kitty said, you meet loads of people in ante/post natal groups anyway + cause the babies are the same age, they get it. 1.5 yrs on I am part of a group of about 15 with babies born within 6 weeks or so. We meet up regularly, with and without the babies! Great friends are waiting to meet you in due course.

swimmingnotdrowning · 24/08/2012 14:57

I sat through a meeting yesterday where someone announced they had had a pregnancy terminated. Some days it is all just too difficult so no apology necessary red. Please keep lurking. It is a bumpy road but it is better with company and we value yours.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 24/08/2012 14:34

red sorry you are had such a shocker yesterday. I too tend to feel better once I have cried it all out.

I know it all feels so unfair and cp just knocks the stuffing out of you. Have a good holiday.

thanks kitty i'm so sorry for getting the thread down. I guess I will one day look back on it and think nothing of it. But right now life feels so cruel and unfair.

I hope I find a good friend like you did at the ante-natals. Lately though it is like someone up there is having a good laugh at me. my best mate falls pregnant by accident, I get bfns then a cp and then bfns again, DH has to go away longer days for work, I have been roped in to plan baby showers for most of the bumps and then if that wasn't enough I met a mum who's a really bad parents (not feeding her children and starving them for hours) Angry I am not sure how much more I can take.

Kittenkatzen · 24/08/2012 13:31

Oh red bigs hugs to you, sorry things are so crappy Sad. Its so easy for it all to get too much with the daily symptom spotting and monthly crashes. I think you're right, a lovely relaxing holiday and two fingers up at TTC could be just what you need.

when you're right, I think a healthy dose of common sense should be taken into account with these things. It's not hard to work out where the "big" risks are (rare meat/raw fish and eggs/mouldy cheeses). Over and above the main things I think you'd probably find its possible to infer a tiny risk into pretty much anything. And life must go on!

kittykatsforever · 24/08/2012 13:03

Sorry to hear that red Sad we will miss you if you go, but I understand
A Holliday is the best idea and enjoy everything you know will be a distant memory when you have your bubs
Try not to get too down by it all, as I've said before one of my best friends was on her second pregnancy while we started trying together originally but when I did get pg I met another girl who has become one of my best friends at our anti natel class and she has been brilliant through the last few months much better then my other friends so there are positive things that can come from different circumstances
Love and hugs to you

redstrawberry · 24/08/2012 12:55

swimming just as others have said no harm in ordering it for now, if you are preggers you can phone in advance and change the options / pretend allergy :)

I haven't tested anymore and was very down yesterday. Cried bucketfuls and very depressed. Let it all out. Now I am not bothered by it. I don't think I have an ounce of optimism left. I am expecting AF to arrive and I will be expecting AF to arrive on time every month.

Can't cope with watching bumps everywhere around me. It would have been a little better if people didn't keep announcing pregnancies. Not because I am jealous of their news, I just always wanted to be pregnant at the same time as friends - be on maternity leave at the same time - join the same mother/baby groups. And now all of them are due at the beginning of the year and still no sight of a BFP for me.

So I have decided....screw TTC and book a holiday and not wait for it to happen. Might be on here a bit less than usual.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 24/08/2012 12:10

Trouble is the Internet says virtually anything is bad when preg. I think I read somewhere that camomile tea was a no no. I paid no attention to this.

Kittenkatzen · 24/08/2012 11:34

Thanks when, that's good to know. It really is a minefield isn't it!

kittykatsforever · 24/08/2012 11:24

^ only do that if you are pregnant though or you'll look crazy Grin

frustratedpants · 24/08/2012 11:08

Perhaps phone the establishment and ask whether eggs are used in the moose, and how the cheesecake is made?

fatasbutter · 24/08/2012 10:48

Just to be controversial I would go for exactly what I like most as I have lost all hope of pg, and also it's highly unlikely that one episode of eating these things will make a difference, but I am a daredevil. Wink

kittykatsforever · 24/08/2012 10:40

When, I'm a little scared, even though your river cottage sounds the picture of tranquil

Swimming I'd opt for atleast one safe choice as you know you'll end up panicking if you are, that said there is very little risk to any of it, I think all are hens are vaccinated in this contry and most things are made from paturised egg which is fine anyway, both desserts are essentially off bounds so go for the one you'd like the most

swimmingnotdrowning · 24/08/2012 10:32

Thanks all. I'm going to avoid the pg riskiest foods as the other options sound nice too. I am clearly driving myself potty for this even to be an issue.

However, I'm taking kick's advice that a small glass of vino isn't going to do any harm this evening....

At the moment I think my super power would be to travel forward in time each 2ww! Although paying off the mortgage would be nice......

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 24/08/2012 10:13

The trouble with that advice is that the reasons for avoiding some foods was not about the transfer of nutrients but the risk of infection.

So you avoid eating raw eggs because of the risk of listeria (it can induce miscarriage) not because of the nutrients.

Ok going back in time plan. Wait for next big euro millions jackpot. Go back time a claim huge fortune.

Probably best I don't win it though. I was fantasizing about what I would do with 100 million. I ended up planning for a zombie attack / end of world scenario. I would build a huge house / fall out shelter and fill it with food to survive a major catastrophe. It would also be a small holding with sheep, pigs, hens and other livestock and veg gardens (think Rivercottage).

It would be in a secret location so that come the apocalypse we could hide from gangs of Zombies / motorcycle mobs. Clearly 2 weeks post massive win I would be completely insane.

Kittenkatzen · 24/08/2012 10:02

Oh yes fatas I an certainly thing of a few people I'd like to play tricks on.....I think I'd choose invisibility as my super power :)

swimming I believe (from the ever knowledgeable, sadly departed kicktheguru) that the food and alcohol rules are not strictly necessary prior to roughly week 6 of pregnancy, as the nutrient transfer from mother to baby isn't in full flow until then. Personally I would just order what you want to eat and deal with it at the time if you do happen to get pregnant. If it did happen you could always feign a newly discovered allergy and request to change your order! :)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 24/08/2012 10:02

Hmm the white choc mousse could have raw egg white in it so maybe best to opt for the cheesecake. I think you should order what ever you fancy though.

OP posts:
swimmingnotdrowning · 24/08/2012 09:52

And in less crazy question... If the options for desert are cheesecake or white chocolate mousse, what would a pg person eat anyway?

swimmingnotdrowning · 24/08/2012 09:45

I'm a little anxious that fatas imp would have to touch the groins of the men we all like least (I'm sure we all have a list....). I think you'd need a complementary superpower like Mr Tickle's arms but sexier

On a different note, I've just been asked to select my choices off a menu for a dinner I'm going to in a few weeks' time. In an attempt to preserve what's left of my sanity I have promised myself to make all decisions on the assumption that I am not pg and not even entertain the thought that this might be the month. But.... there are only two choices on each course - one of the starters is a pg no-no and one of the mains is a ph no-no, both the option I would normally have gone for. Should I break my self-imposed ban on decisions that take pg into account? Assuming I'm not (and the evidence of seven months would tend to suggest not) that will make me sad and mopey at the dinner. But if I was I would need to eat the safe food. What to do?

kittykatsforever · 24/08/2012 09:35

Lol when I wasn't imaging my own body clad in cat suit, it was nearly my head superimposed on to Michelle pfeiffers!!
If I really did have a superpower I'd definatly go for teleporter!!

fatasbutter · 24/08/2012 09:31

Well it's more ... impish? Not evil per se!! And when could you come back from the future with a few winning lotto numbers? Not necessarily all of them, just enough for a decent deposit on a new house?!! Ta Wink

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 24/08/2012 09:29

I thought you were meant to use superpowers for good not evil.

Then again I can think of a few blokes at work that deserve that treatment.

fatasbutter · 24/08/2012 09:27

Ooh that's a good one, also freeze time so you can run across the room and undo someone's flies so suddenly they are standing there with trousers around ankles GrinGrinGrin
