We filled the last one so I thought I would start no 2.

kick I'm not a lawyer either but I suppose if you go then if something were to go wrong with the other job (although I'm sure it won't), you would have other options...although it sounds as if you might not want the other ones? It seems like you are an attractive candidate to these companies so I would do what feels right for you.

Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of nausea?

redstrawberry · 15/08/2012 09:59

Kick completely agree with kitten - recruitment consultants are not to be entirely trusted. Just go with the flow - you know you already have the offer, no harm in going for the other interviews and being honest. I was in my interviews and the culture in another firm actually changed my mind and I joined them instead as I hadn't signed the dotted line with the first offer.

nicola really hope you find out one way or another. Its crap being in limbo land and that tiny sliver of hope wears us out.

Kittenkatzen · 15/08/2012 09:50

^"Yes, it is rare, but it DOES happen. Maybe I'm one of the special ones.
Or maybe my body is just playing tricks on me. Only time will tell."^

Just to chuck my tuppence worth in....I think that this ^ shows that nic is keeping a balanced head about things. I don't think there's anything wrong with being hopeful and excited and discussing possibilities/anecdotes etc. Equally there's nothing wrong with being much more cautious about things and playing devil's advocate. Everyone's personal view is valid imo.

:)

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 09:45

I hate interviews. And neither of them are as good as the one I'm going for. The first one isn't a great product while the company sounds nice, but they won't be able to move as quickly as I would need.

The second is erm...a public transport provider through the UK but it's a contract until December...

Kittenkatzen · 15/08/2012 09:44

kick I'm not a lawyer-y type, but have dealt with a lot of recruitment consultants, and personally would suggest you should still do the other interviews. You have nothing to lose by going, and everything to gain (by covering your arse in case the first offer is retracted, and also you never know what spectacular offer one of the others might have up their sleeves to blow the current one out of the water).

I would be up front and just tell everyone that you've verbally accepted an offer already but are happy to have a discussion with them if they still want to meet you. Think of it as bridge building for potential future moves :)

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 09:39

I will join the "baby dust" brigade - but only on this thread.

kittykatsforever · 15/08/2012 09:35
  • later with dd, and sorry for spelling Blush
kittykatsforever · 15/08/2012 09:33

Ohh I never read the posts before as writing mine but I don't want to raise people's hopes unessisarily but this genuinely was my experience and no I've never had the symptoms before or said I have I openly admitted I didn't have them with mc or until with dd

kittykatsforever · 15/08/2012 09:25

I agree Nic, if you read my post while still getting bfn I had bleeding gums, never normally and metallic taste, I also had those weird pulling pinching things, the sickness was after I'd had the very faint frer test though, however on a weirder note my first blood on the Thursday 6 days after frer + it was only 20, I had the + on digi 2 days before aswell which is only surposed to register 25+ and surposed to double every 2 days hows that for strange?

winkle2 · 15/08/2012 09:22

Nic I hope you're preg too but it might just be your body getting back to normal after being on the pill? I'm speaking from my own personal experience where I've had no two cycles the same length since coming off the pill in Nov 2010! It's bloody frustrating isn't it?! And annoying cause I never know when I'm late grrrrrr

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 09:22

Sorry. I guess my advice isn't the advice that you want then. I will gracefully shut up and leave the other advice then - the ones that you do want.

Sorry again for not trying to get your hopes up.

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 09:19

Question for Lawyer-y Types:

Ok so I've had a "formal" offer through the recruiter - he asked (over the phone - I know that doesn't make it a formal offer) if I would accept and I said that I would.

He BCCed me into their thread of emails, where they emailed him the offer and he has subsequently accepted the offer.

I have a few recruiters (and their clients) who have begged me to go to the interviews with them today, even though I've emailed and said to cancel said interviews as I have accepted another offer.

I am SHITTING myself that if I cancel those interviews and the offer gets recanted, that I am then up shit street because I've cancelled (very likely) additional job offers. The one has basically said from a telephone interview that they would move very quickly to get me on board.

I am happy with the job offer and would like to turn down the additional interviews but I am really, really scared that if I do that and the offer gets taken off the table, that I am then out of a job and out of pocket.

Any advice?

NicolaHazel · 15/08/2012 09:17

No, actually I don't, kick.

I just want support and advice.

And without being nasty, I'd actually appreciate you not putting words into my mouth.

And I am also talking about more extreme situations.

But I'll take your comments on board.

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 09:13

Nicola - it's not "some" people. Approximately 2% of pregnant women may have positive tests about a week later than the arrival of AF but it is very rare and largely, it's because they didn't ovulate when they thought.

Certainly not trying to "put you off" but I've had WTF cycles for the better part of the past 6 months and I got all excited and looked online and chatted to people who ALL told me that "it's not over til AF arrives" but I kept getting negative tests.

AF did arrive eventually in all her glory in every single one of those WTF cycles.

I know you want us to tell you that you're definitely pregnant but I think we're all trying to make sure that if you are pregnant, we will be thrilled for you (AND it won't go anywhere until you know for sure). But if you aren't pregnant, it just hurts more because you've worked it up so much.

So it's not a nasty thing, I promise. Just playing devils advocate...

resipsa · 15/08/2012 09:11

Winkle I was a bit worried I'd given enough info to ID myself in RL but then decided I didn't really care as there is no way anyone I know is on here (she says hoping very hard it's true).

winkle2 · 15/08/2012 09:04

I'm not a lawyer, I work in the marketing team.

Shit am I outing myself here?!

Sorry for bfn nic

Cd25 today!

RIBS · 15/08/2012 08:37

Wow! Do they break up earlier or not have
As long during the summer?
Happy first day back little weechops! I have enough attitude at nearly 4, god knows what she'll b like in a few years!

NicolaHazel · 15/08/2012 08:33

Having researched it, that isn't entirely true, RIBS.

Some people just don't get positive tests for many weeks, even though they have symptoms. Some people only get confirmation with an ultrasound.

Yes, it is rare, but it DOES happen. Maybe I'm one of the special ones.

Or maybe my body is just playing tricks on me. Only time will tell.

weechops · 15/08/2012 08:24

No I'm not evil mum :) we live in Scotland so our schools are back today. She is going into p2 and thinks she knows it all now :)

resipsa · 15/08/2012 08:19

Oh, unless you don't live in the UK in which case happy first day!

RIBS · 15/08/2012 08:19

Weechops. I'd love to b a sahm. At least for a little while. Because I'm self employed my maternity leave was almost non existent. Was back after 5 weeks after dd born, and had emergency c section. It was shit.

Fingers crossed something happens soon Nicola.

I didn't get any symptoms until 6 weeks. But felt like I'd got the worst jet lag ever combined with flu. My first symptom was bleeding gums and very Heightened sense of smell. Like kick would say if you've got symptoms you'll have enough hgc to get a positive test!

resipsa · 15/08/2012 08:18

weechops I'm assuming you're just buying the kit (oh, remember the excitement of a shiny new pencil case?) today rather than sending WC1 back to school 3 weeks early???

woody17 · 15/08/2012 08:13

weechops I'm going to be a SAHM when we have children.

Hope weechops1 has a good day at school!

Kittenkatzen · 15/08/2012 08:09

weechops "poor relation" don't be silly! My ambition is to be a stay at home mum sometime soon. Happy first day of school to weechops1 Grin

resipsa · 15/08/2012 08:06

I meant more time at WORK!
