I think that it is latin and it's two words - res ipsa which is latin for "the thing is". Most commonly used in the phrase res ipsa loquitur meaning "the thing speaks for itself". Am I right resipsa?

Ha! *resipsa" - I just got your nickname! I've been misreading it as re-is-psa and assuming that it at least had some significance to you but now I get it! Made my day (which tells you something about how much fun I am having at my desk....)

To be honest swimming the Maths isn't that hard. Most primary school kids would have no problem with 35 minus 7.

I felt the same about my GP, really just didn't know what he was talking about. I think in about 10 - 20 years we won't have GPs any more everyone will just go to Dr Google.

I fon't know what the problem is with the receptionists, some are lovely but there are so many that are complete cows it makes you wonder.

I can picture it! Grin I think there must be a new training scheme where they learn the attitude. (No offence to anyone here who works as one; sure you're lovely!).

Yes I did have to explain to the GP! Although, in fairness to him, I think he was more confused by the arithmetic rather than lacking in medical knowledge and he did a good job of putting me at east. He was trying to tell me that day 21 is the same as 7 days before your next period and it took a while to persuade him that on a 35 day cycle that simply doesn't add up....

It made me very grateful to everyone on here for all the knowledge I've acquired during my lurking active contributions on here. It was when I asked whether the tests were 21 days after the first day of menstruation or 7 days after possible ovulation that the penny dropped. Trying to explain to the reception why I had to book an appointment with the nurse on a particular day was a whole new kind of torture though! All the people I know who used to be doctor's receptionists are lovely so why are none of the ones I've ever met behind the reception desk capable of being understanding? Are all patients normally horrible to them?

resipsa I think so, don't take my word. I know they will be checking the quality of my eggs too, to see if there any cysts and what size etc

I think you can get your egg "reserve" tested but suspect that's not a test the NHS agrees to fund.

resipa I don't think it can tell you that as you keep producing eggs. It surely only shows how many eggs you've produced in the month
